  1. We can determine the source of the CO2 that mysteriously started accumulating in the atmosphere about the same time we started burning dinosaur juice by measuring the ratio of carbon isotopes. No prizes for guessing where it came from.

Perhaps. I do sometimes gain understanding from seeing how others misunderstand.

Here are the two claims Arielle made, for which I requested supporting evidence...

I'll bet what Arielle is referring to is the abiotic origin of oil hypothesis. By hypothesis I mean insane rabbit hole.

Now that's a good review. His main complaints:

    • Frame rate sucks. He's right. SL users are way too tolerant of low frame rates. That's fixable, but it takes a viewer rewrite. (I can say more on that in a more technical forum.)

It could be fixed to some extent right now by not enabling shadows or ALM by default on computers where they make SL an unplayable mess.

When, and by whom, and how widely was it believed, and was it actually a prediction or simply one possible outcome based on a a range of possible inputs and assumptions?

Al Gore citing a 2007 presentation by Wieslaw MaslowskI. Of course it’s a cherry picked example of the most aggressive prediction and has never been the consensus. Oops, one guy made a prediction that was at odds with everyone else and it didn’t pan out so climate change is a lie! Checkmate libtards!

worrying about natural climate patters that have gone on for 4+ billion years and thinking we can effect global climate by focusing on a trace gas in the atmosphere is well, lame.

Do you know why the climate changes? You might want to look into that. Do you think it's possible that the scientists who study climate professionally might know something about atmospheric trace gasses effect on climate that you don't? I know that sounds crazy, but it's something to think about.

As I watch the proffered video and still images all I can think of is how much money we spent on those fancy flying weapon platforms and this is the best imagery they can return to us?  I feel like I have been financially abused.

I doubt it’s the best they can show us, it’s all they will show us because most of it is classified. I’m sure there’s a reason the people who leaked this crap as evidence of UFO’s leaked the *****tiest footage they could find, that’s what they always do.

  7. What’s more likely, the video shows aliens with physics defying technology or I don’t know what I’m looking at? I know where my money is going.

I’m not going to pretend I know what I’m looking at with jet fighter HUD footage, because I don’t. I might as well be looking at the Matrix. But I can find people who do, and the videos don’t look nearly so weird after that.

    It’s not aliens.

And on the topic of minimum requirements, it's really arbitrary for SL. You can't really make any good decisions about where to draw the line because SL, unlike other games, are almost unlimited in how heavy the scenery can become so the "minimum requirements" for new users are basically unknowable.

The minimum requirements won’t even run Windows. Personally I think the minimum should be at least something that supports all of the shaders SL uses. Turning it up to ultra may not run well, but at least it should look right. The minimum video cards, if they’ll even run Windows 8 or 10 (and that should be 8.1, not 8 ) won’t run SL right.

I think it is relevant, because whenever someone has this discussion, someone inevitably brings up "most people are on potato pcs" in the mix. Most people I know are trying to run SL on ultra, if you look at the technical discussions forum half the threads on the first page start off "I have a RTX 10000, how can I improve my framerate?" or someone is always bragging about how they're running SL on ultra offhandedly in the general forum. I just don't think the majority of people on SL are on potato PCs anymore.

And the other half of the questions are is this Best Buy deal of the day laptop good enough for SL.

What do people consider a "potato PC"?

Oh Im not wishing it at all. I'm just saying that's a large swath a players that won't play for that reason. Also, I think the main reason twitch bans is because of the likely instances of stream snipers spawning (venus) poofers while you're trying to stream live.

edit: Apparently word that rhymes with venus is blanked out. Replaced.

You can stream SL on YouTube.

I'm not seeing what y'all are talking about, anyone have a direct link?

I assume this is the animation at secondlife.com you get if you aren't logged in. The first avatar you see is a robot guy with super cool animated blue cyborg eyes and the camera flies into his right eye.
