By using usernames, I meant when referring to other players by their usernames. I guess that could be read either way, sorry.

Display names are on by default. The people who don’t know about them are the ones running around with the terrible name they made when they signed up. People who aren’t seeing them definitely know about them and turned them off on purpose. IMO, even if I hated Unicode bling names, I’d leave display names on because usernames are the worst.

if someone uses usernames, I assume they’re a bot. There’s my pettiness.

The people I find really annoying are the ones who insist on using system names for avatars with display names with no special characters in them.

Something changed in the latest Firestorm and the PTT button doesn’t lock it, even with the setting checked. You have to click the speak button for it to lock.

In 6.4.21 it's under the water reflections drop down. Dunno if its in 6.4.13, I don't have it installed anymore.

If there’s no one else in your home using the data, I’d check the router logs to see if someone is mooching off your WiFi. 1.2TB a month is a lot for SL and web browsing.

I didn't realize it was an option in the Linden viewer until just now. I get a significant performance boost from it in both viewers.

In the graphics settings change water reflections to none, opaque water. You should get a significant performance boost.

I don't believe SL or Firestorm requires anything an 8400gs can't do. If you don't mind 6fps like, everywhere. I tried to replicate the problem with a GeForce 210 (practically the same card) on a fully updated copy of Windows 10 and couldn't. I don't think the problem is Firestorm or the card. I'd try a clean install of the latest version of the drivers from the nVidia web site.

It's probably time to retire it. The card wasn't great for SL when it was new, and that was 15 years ago. The last driver update (342.01, get it from nVidia and don't trust Windows to update it) is almost five years old. It's never going to get better.

The one software related fix that leaps to mind is to go to Firestorm's graphics preferences and in the hardware settings tab uncheck use dynamic texture memory and set the texture memory buffer size manually.

I’m having the problem in the latest Firestorm on Windows. Push to talk is always a momentary switch, instead of clicking to turn it on and clicking again to turn it off, regardless of the settings.

To be fair to the resellers, they're paying for the items just like any other customers. And they do provide the service of making some items available to people who otherwise wouldn't go near a gacha machine (at the expense of filling up the Marketplace with the Unicorn Puke variations of items no one wants).
