Even softer yet, an orb can be scripted to llEjectFromLand instead of llTeleportAgentHome, which is a kinder, gentler punishment.  Of course, if you are given adequate warning time, you ought to be able to leave a parcel the size of a Linden Home before the orb does anything to you.  We'll just have to see.

a little issue with llEjectFromLand is that we have no script control over direction, so sometimes the parcel you are ejected too is also scripted to eject you. I have had that happen to me on old mainland. Boing boing :)

with Experience Teleport then the ejectee could be sent to the estate airfield/docks region(s) where they can easily rez another vehicle and have another go in a different direction. It might be ok this as the main body of complaints do come from vehicle operators who get caught out by all this.  I think I would rather get sent to a vehicle rez zone, if I was to be sent anywhere

Making ban lines invisible in your viewer ...  makes it even easier to run into them while sailing, flying, or driving.  Not an ideal solution, in my view.

i agree with this part. It is not ideal at all for travelers

i just put out here again for Somebody Linden who has nothing else to do one day somehow maybe hope so.  What I would like is that when an avatar on a vehicle hits a banline or hits a no-object-entry parcel then the vehicle is bounced off. It doesn't get stuck in the fence

To be honest, right now I would rather see the moles working on more (and varied) housing regions than on a "city center" which may or may not continue to be popular a year from now when all the hype of the new continent and community has worn off. It's hard to gauge how many of the new residents are really into being part of a community long term, or how many might be if only there were <whatever buildings and/or activities>.  But first, I'd like to see the housing built out.

agree 100%. There are still 1,000s of people currently in the old 512s waiting for their new 1024s

(I'm in a mood today it seems, posting on all types of topics I have no direct experience with, but opinions about, lol)

    good on you :)

i think is okt when people post their opinions about anything. If someone else then comes along and shows there is no actual factual premise to the opinion then its thanks and on to the next topic

That's correct.  The covenant in the NEW Linden Homes allows you to make a skybox above 2000m, but the covenant in the OLD Linden Homes does not allow skyboxes at all.

when you claim an old 512m Linden Home, the web page actually says that you can have a skybox above 2000m. I just claimed one about an hour ago just to see what it would say

    messy

This is a point to clarify, the rules in the info land of the new homes still say that you can have a skybox  above 2000 m.

yes. I was meaning the covenant of the old 512m homes.

I suspect that the Knowledge Base page will have an overhaul now.  It has to be a little confusing to have the Old Linden Homes and the New Linden Homes, and get information about both in the KB.

yes is all a bit messy at the moment.  When buy a old 512m Linden Home the buy page says that you can have a skybox there above 2000m.  In the About Land parcel covenant it still says no you can't

  8. i ran and jumped my way all around the edge of the main continent today. On the east side I went up the river bank as the over the river is not completed yet

altogether it's pretty good visually. I quite like that there are little differences on each region. Nice touch that. I never crashed once on any region crossing so that was good as well

chatted to a person with a name I have seen on this forum. They scored a great location and pretty happy that they did. So that was good.  Saw a girl riding her pushbike. Another girl puttering along on her scooter. And bumped  into a man standing on a footpath scratching his head while looking at his empty house wondering what ever he was going to furnish it with

saw another man with 2 houses. Well more a Linden house and a garden shed. He said he is going to live in his shed. He said he would live in his RL shed if he could but his wife is not happy about that. So SL lets him live the dream as he put it :)

  9. @Qie, as an aside I am going to be interested in how LL implement the security

I was kinda thinking out loud about it in another thread. Would be quite good if they did it as an experience, teleported to an estate zone of some kind, rather than the whole get sent home thing. If the ethos of the estate is to be  a non-harsh community feel then some kinda experience-based thing be a whole lot softer

Proactive neighborhood beautification...good for them!  Ban lines are such ugly things.

only when we totally insist on not ticking off menu: World \ Show \ Banlines. It always makes me laugh a little bit when people (not looking at anyone :D ) insist on not ticking this off. Like since 2007. Thank you Jack Linden :)

Teager.  Just to take this a bit further, where is SSP on the map?  Excuse my ignorance.  Don't use the map much, if at all.  Thanks.

to find the new Linden Homes estate then in World Map \ Find box, type in SSPE100 and click the Find Button.  The regions on the new continent that have yet to be filled with homes, have names beginning with SSPE

  12. LL have turned off the ban lines settings for the whole new Lindens Homes estate. Which means that the ability to add people to your access list is also turned off.  Anybody can come onto your home parcel, (anybody includes your friends) unless you specifically add a person to your parcel ban list

basically it means you can't ban Everyone except for the people on your access list

you have to ban everyone else (who are not friends) individually and specifically by name. Up to 300 everyone elses

    From the covenant :

*Your Linden Home may not be removed, modified, exchanged, set or deeded to group, or transferred.

You can ADD to your home with in themed add-ons or outbuildings or other furnishing. Rereading might be good :D

There are quite a few folks with house rezzing issues and some have put down temporary shelters.

thanks. I was going off what was on blog.  I had another look at the About Land \ Covenant. Is pretty specific.  The next line after the one you showed even more so. "*Residents must use one of the houses provided. ... "

I'm holding out for some new house designs. I liked some of the ones from the old Linden homes; they were just packed in too tightly. I have a beach lot; it needs an A-frame, not a pseudo Cape Cod.

parsing what there is about the estate  on the LL blog. It would seem that you don't have to have a Linden-built home on your parcel. The post says only that what you do build has to be keep presentable and in-theme

some people are already doing this, like one person I saw had no houseboat. Just a yatch which they have furnished as a home.  This may have been triggered by the mailbox rezzer not working for them, so they went with their own yatch

Based on other comments, I don't think they underestimated the demand.  They simply made the decision to go ahead and open some up now rather than waiting until the entire continent was built.

yes this.  It is a good approach. As they have mentioned also since, LL will look at how people are using these early builds and factor that into how to design/build the next tranches

I have put LOADS of my own money into SL since 2010, and feel no need to install a 0 seconds orb that flings innocent travelers all the way home. I stand by my opinion that that behavior is rude.

that it might be rude to boot another person out of your house with zero warning, this is not quallified by what you think the value of their pixel butt is worth. Its worth what they decide. You only get to value your own butt

Still no update on when the orbs are coming?

    not yet

a thought I would add on here about a Linden made and provided orb for this estate

the things that will most exercise the design thinking are: minimum time and range

given that the houses are all of a known size (being Linden-built) then it could be that the minimum time and range are graduated/differential

inside the frame of the house (the box) then the owner can set it to a really short time, even 0. Top of the box be about house roof level - a lot less than the banlines box. On the basis of what does some rando want to be doing exactly inside my house anyway.  Beyond this, like the lawn and water at house level and up to 2000m then the minimum could be longer say 15 seconds. Which given the size of the parcels should not impede any vehicle passing over/thru, or any virtual children who dunno how to get off my lawn on their way to the skate park. Above 2000m then the security uses the short time

is fairly straightforward to script a graduated security system like this. When a agent is detected  on the parcel: Is it inside the house box or is it above 2000m. When so then short time applies. When not then long time applies

ps add.  It could also be done as an Experience. Like instead of sending people home or ejecting them which could easily toss the agent onto another parcel where the security is active also, and the next and next. The experience could just teleport them to the footpath

SO RUDE. I hope their naked pixel bottom is really worth that kind of overly aggressive "security", but somehow I doubt it.

for that person, their naked pixel bottom would at least be equal to he amount of their own money they have put into SL

The "invisible tower of doom" is visible, your aeroplane, balloon or helicopter will be stuck to the ban lines like flypaper because an explicit ban doesn't allow object entry for the objects of the person banned, and you'll stay seated in your vehicle because ban lines don't teleport you home.

    true, my bad

Wow, I didn't even know that orbs could monitor outside of your owned parcel.

that one is just badly scripted. Using a sensor to detect nearby avatars, and not checking if the detected avatar is llOverMyLand() before sending the dialog message

most of the security orbs do the check, just not that one I ran into

  21. i had a good look round. The visuals are great! the LDPW can take a bow

some random orb told me that I had 1 second to get off the public footpath or else. That home owner might want to check the over my parcel thingy on that one. Although the local convenor of the Society of Polite Neighborly Neighbors probably be along soon to politely tell that neighbour that the Police will be informed of their unneighbourly behaviour. Like 1 whole second or death :) The local convenor will have to yell this info at them tho, ever so politely, from the footpath or else it be death for them if they step 1 inch off the footpath :D

and I noticed, because nosey, that some home owners already have lists of people banned by name. So if you are flying around then don't go by their home, as you might be on their list and hit the invisible tower of doom and your aeroplane, balloon or helicopter could end up anywhere, with you safely wrapped once more in the bosom of your own home

but anyways, that will all work itself out no doubt

back to a more positive note before things go all dark and short breathed

I also noticed, that the streets have no names. That could be a community-building activity that people could be engaged in now, organised by the Linden In Charge Of Linden Neighborhoods(tm) or maybe a Mole delegated to be the LDPW Minister in Charge of Street Names

Residents could come up with a list of names for the streets on their home region. The Moles could then go round and put up the street signs and mailbox numbers. Then people could live at 3 Dingleberry Road, Sallie. etc. Would be quite nice that, specially for the people who have chosen the suburbia homes

translate the electronic bill labels to english for them. Point to where your name is on the bill, show that it is the same chinese letters as on your other form of identification: drivers license, passport, etc
