  1. Generally I usually buy mod items, but still buy no-mod once in awhile if it's something I really want (or unless it's clothing, hair or shoes, which I usually don't think to check). If I modify something, the majority of the time it is to change alpha blending to alpha masking if I'm getting alpha conflict issues.  I also almost always turn full-bright off unless it's supposed to be some type of light thing that needs that for some reason.  I do occasionally resize wall hangings or paintings, furniture or flower/grass patches where I need something smaller.  I have run into an issue where having the item mod doesn't solve everything when trying to resize furniture which has prop items that are rezzed - like pots on a stove or dishes in a sink, or desk accessories.  When I've made the item smaller, the props continue to rezz at the original height.  I rarely, if ever, try modifying items that are no-copy - I like knowing if it gets messed up too much, I can delete it and rezz out a fresh copy.  For resizing clothing or jewelry, if necessary, I prefer using a script rather than trying to do it myself.  The script may not work perfectly, but generally works better for those types of items than me trying to do it myself.

  2. You didn't say what things you've already tried, so I don't know if I will be suggesting things you've already tried or not.

If you made the purchases in-world, you can check to see if the store has a re-delivery terminal.

If you've double-checked your Received Items folder, your Objects folder, and your main inventory directory for a product folder, and it's not there, you can check the creator's profile and picks to see if they have a preference for how to contact them (IM or NC).  Contact them in their preferred format, with a polite message explaining you didn't receive the purchase and requesting a redelivery. Be sure to include the transaction information showing your purchase.  The transaction information can be found on your web dashboard, under Account -> L$ Transaction History.  You can copy and paste the transaction details into a NC or IM.  If the creator doesn't have a preferred contact method,  I usually send a NC.  Be patient - not all creators are logged in every day and sometimes RL situations result in someone not being able to log in for several days.

I don't know what the permissions were on the items you purchased, but if the item was no-copy, it may not be possible to get a redelivery.

There still won't be any way to get him to admit he's lost an argument—the title of Phil's biography will be "Undaunted Stubbornness", I  think—but at least we can derail him!

    Unless he's no-mod  :)

  4. I feel more connected to the world when I can walk out and explore directly from where I'm living.  I've always ended up feeling hemmed in when I've had parcels that weren't connected to a road or waterway.  Even though I'm living on an estate sim right now, it's one with a lot of paths and waterways, and a little town area that I can walk to, so I can still walk around and feel connected to a larger community than just my own parcel.

Who goes outside with wet eyelashes?? Or is it from mascara? Or staged?

I was wondering the same thing, but then I was remembering that when I go out walking in (what I consider*) very cold weather, the cold makes my eyes water, which I suppose would make my eyelashes wet, or at least damp.  I was also thinking that having frozen eyelashes must make it hard to blink, which doesn't seem like it would be very good for one's eyes.

    * I don't live where it gets very cold, so I consider anything in the low 30's F to be 'very cold'.  I think the coldest temp that I've been in would be around 17F, and that was when we were coming over the Sierra Nevadas in the winter one time, and had to stop because of car problems.

  6. First time playing around with a mesh head.  I picked up the LAQ Bento Neve head before Christmas when it was on sale, but didn't try doing anything with it until this last weekend.  I haven't played around with make up too much yet.  I wanted to get the shape dialed in first, and then try other things out after I'm used to it and feeling fairly satisfied with the look.

  7. I really appreciate all the help that is provided in this forum.  When I first joined SL, I spent hours reading through the forums - especially the answers section - learning things and getting ideas about things that I wouldn't have any known to ask about or to look for.

I also like to get a sense of the history of places I visit or live, and SL being a world was not an exception.  Between this forum and the other one, I've read a lot of history about SL as well, which was pretty interesting to me.

Many times I join forums that I think I will be doing a lot of reading in, and rarely, if ever, post in them, which was the case here for me until this last year or so when I decided to make an effort to be a little more outgoing.

  8. Also, if the only item in your cart is free, there are more steps involved in completing the purchase than normal (including one step where you need to scroll down a page of ads in order to find the button for continuing with the purchase).

  9. You might want to check with the owner - or a different sales rep - to see if in their inventory of things you can use, there is the RAW terrain file for the design you had picked.  It may just be a miscommunication or a misunderstanding.  If there is, find out if you need to restore the sim to how it was when you received it before applying the RAW file, and ask the best way to do that, if that is the case.

  10. If you use PayPal, you could "pre-fund" the dollar balance in PayPal at the beginning of each month with the amount that you want to spend in SL.  Then just be good about checking the dollar balance left in PayPal as the month goes by, to make sure you don't spend more than you pre-funded.
