Gopi, I almost invariably enjoy your threads and posts. I think you often ask interesting questions, and your own tone is usually measured and even good humoured.

I'm feeling you've crossed a line on this one, however. It does feel an awful lot like you're using this thread to call out particular forum posters. That's not merely a recipe for drama (and witness what has ensued), but also really not very fair to them.

I'm not going to say anything more here, but I know I'd feel better if you walked this back a bit. This forum has "personalities," of course, and interpersonal dynamics, but I don't feel, personally, that those should be our actual subject.

I know Scylla, I'm sorry. Like I said, I let my anger get the best of me.

I already submitted the report for the thread's closure or removal.

If you feel the thread has "run its course", you can report the thread and request that the thread be closed for that reason.

    It often works.

Otherwise, we can try to get back to your original topic (before you revealed it may have been about certain indivduals).

You can try to steer it back to about disagreeable people in general, I suppose, as the "Mole" has said. But we'll see how it goes before I report it.

You didn't ask me, but:  Disagreeing with some people, even when offering your opinion and framing it such, can be taken as a "grave offense" and invite derision. That's just how it works sometimes.  It doesn't matter what you say or how you reply, if you don't "slavishly agree" (to borrow a phrase), you'll just invite some people to be more and more disagreeable.

Of course, all of the above is just my opinion.

Fine I suppose. I let my anger with her get the best of me.

Ah! So it's ok for you to tell other people how to post., what to think, especially if they don't think the way you want.

Right, so when I disagree with some nonsense you spammed the forum with, I should phrase it so nobody KNOWS I disagree with it. Got it, thanks for the heads up.

Working As Intended. It's not my job to agree with you, slavishly, no matter how inane your statements. You want that you have to pay wages.

    And you can't afford me.

Okay, I'm not telling you, I'm just offering my opinion of what I think about you. You're offering your opinion of what you think about me and my posts, couldn't I do the same for you?

Problem is that when one does not mention or imply a certain person, it leaves others to wonder if you meant them and some that you did mean to think you didn't mean them :)

I already responded to some of those people and implied it was them I was talking about. See my post to @Zalificent Corvinus and @Alwin Alcott.

There are some people, ok one person, on this forum that have overly exaggerated posts that are mostly likely the opposite of how they really are in person. A puppet might you say.  Why do they do it? I suspect they find it more interesting to post in this way finding more and more ways to be disagreeable or just skate under the forum rules.  If you don't see this you are too sensitive and should get off the internet.

I post how I think and feel. I don't follow norms though there are certain people that I find always have great insight or a posting style I like, as do others,  which may make it seem like a pile up.

Some people agree with what I say....A LOT of people don't. Shrugs, if I cared what strangers on the internet thought of me I'd have left these forums a longgggg time ago.  I post here because it's entertainment.  @Gopi Passiflora if you don't find value or the people here to your liking and it upsets you then WHY in heaven's sake are you here at all?   Honestly, go find something better to do with your time because very few people will change because you called them meanies.

First off, I'm not saying everyone here is bad or mean. My post was more just me wanting to vent about certain people on the forum.

Yes, maybe I'm too sensitive but shouldn't I be allowed to vent sometimes? I mean if people are allowed to criticize me then I can also criticize them as well. Maybe my venting is a way to criticize those people as well, to let them know I don't approve of their behavior. Yes I know I can't change them, but I dunno.

I'm also here to partake in and enjoy discussions. I'm not leaving anytime soon.

(I wish I could have phrased my post better, but hopefully you can see what I mean.)

So, not slavishly agreeing with utter nonsense is some kind of "Forum Crime" now?

Maybe it's the "really old people over 25 who are nearly dead" thing, less likely to be posting from a campus dorm room while pretending to be stoned out of their gourds on dried parsley because their "Campus Dealer" ripped them off and they didn't realise that it was taking too long to "kick in".

You know, you could be less harsh with your criticism. It's fine to disagree, but the way you phrase things is just so off-putting. I've dealt with people like you in the past, and they were a pain in the butt.

You say yourself you don't care anymore, why would we?
If we all were the same, how deadly boring would this forum be with even more of useless subjects?
Don't forget the cultural behaviours... Americans talk an hour to try not to step on toes about a color of a dress, Dutchies talk 10 seconds and you'll clearly know what color your dress has.

And to add in general ;  most posts on the forum get closed by mods by bickering between 3 or 4 forumites that pretend to be the most social in their actions here... not by posts made by the less agreeable posters.

Fine, you do raise good points, but see my post to Zalificent. She and other people are so harsh and so hard to please. I know, my complaining could be unwarranted, but I dunno, sometimes it's just too much....

I find the heavy moderation and stricter community guidelines have put quite a crimp on people voicing how disagreeable they really can be if one considers what the forums were like even a few years ago. I see some unmoderated forums that can be a little more chaotic then here nowadays.

I suppose so. That's all I'll say for now.

Push the right buttons and almost everyone can be disagreeable. Some just have more buttons/opinions then others and may be more aggressive in in stating them. The ones that lurk and offer no thought maybe just as vehemently disagreeable without stating so.

So is the issue with people who voice/post their disagreement?

I suppose so. You do have some good points but I just found this forum and many other SL forums is....how do I put it...it's not as "chill" as other places. Yes, I guess maybe there's more aggressive and forthright people here.

As Persephone said, paraphrasing, disagreeable people come in many flavors, mostly bitter.

For example tho on the Forums, you eventually figure out who is "always" disagreeable, who is "just grumpy", who has no filter, and who exhibits a healthy and complex range of emotions and moods.

Worrisome on occasion, you see someone act totally out of character. It can be all too easy judging that they need an "intervention" vs. are having a bad day.

One thing I've learned to look for is if someone "goes on attack mode" or completely overreacts; I try not to let those instances dictate my own mood, and steer clear. Toxic behavior is like stepping in manure; just try not to get any on you.

Thank you for the advice Love. Perhaps the disagreeable people are just like that and I shouldn't take their grumpiness seriously.

Some people might have jobs in which they are never allowed to complain or disagree.

Some people might be old, poor, in pain, and feel like the world has treated them unfairly.

Some people might just be disagreeable out of habit.

I suppose so. I guess it's what they call a "chip on their shoulder",  perhaps?

    Thanks for the insight Persephone.

  12. A few things:

-I realize this is not about Second Life directly, but more about the board. But I notice this about other boards related to Second Life as well.

-I know I'm creating drama and inviting trouble by making this topic, but I don't care anymore. Do or say whatever. I just need to let it out.

There's certain people on this board (I won't name names) who, no matter what I say, they always are disagreeable and always seem critical of what I say or do. I realize I may have a part in it because what I say and do might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I dunno...some people are just very harsh here. I know, I should get over it, but some of the people just seem so harsh compared to other communities I've visited.

And speaking of drama...I know people don't like drama here, but it still ends up happening a lot (with or without my involvement.)

  13. My faves:

Evo: Fleur (I find that it makes a good combination with the "Daisy" skin from Linden Lab. I wonder if anyone else does this with their Evo heads and the Linden skins.)

EvoX: Billie, Sugar, Gaia, and Noel. I use my avi with Noel the most but out of the four I picked, I'd say Billie is my absolute fave.
