  1. I always assume they're just wanting to compliment me and not have an actual conversation when they start that way so I just say "ty" and don't reply to anything after.
  2. It's interesting everyone is stuck on one word. It was the word I saw so that's why it is what I used. I'm also seeing an interesting pattern where it seems like people don't consider their own avi perfect even though they made it?
  3. In another thread I saw someone mention that they find it harder to talk to "perfect" avis and they preferred avis with some flaws or something along those lines. Do you feel this way? I never thought about this before seeing that comment. I realized for me, I'm more likely to talk to interesting looking avis. The meaning of interesting varies. It's just an avi that catches my attention and makes me go "oooo." I don't really notice the ones who look like everyone else.
  4. It might not be SL. It's probably your computer tbh. Since I got a good one, I've only crashed a handful of times. When I was on a crappy computer I used to crash often and had weird things like that happen.
  5. Magika is my favorite SL hair store but unfortunately their products have this issue.
  6. I recently got maitreya petite and I love it. I thought my primary issue with this add-on would be clothes but it's actually hairs. The issue is a lot of long hairs leave too much of a gap between the hair and chest for my liking. I know it can vary from hair to hair but what stores do you guys find don't have this issue as much?
  7. It's not sad. Maybe they don't go on SL much... It's logical to see a bunch of dots on the map and assume there are a lot of people there. It's only after you know how SL works that you know there's a possibility a lot of those are bots and the chances of that are even higher if it's an info hub. There are a lot of factors that go into socializing on SL. Everything from where you go, to how your avatar looks, to how you're approaching people, the time you're online, etc. etc. There are also a lot of factors that aren't in your control. You can have the best avi and be the friendliest person but the issue could be with the person you're trying to engage in conversation with. It's true that most of SL is a ghost town. I've spent hours walking around scenic sims and shops and not ran into another avi. You have to know where to go if you want to meet people. You shouldn't assume your SL experience is like everyone else's and calling someone "sad" for not having figured out how to use SL is sad.
  8. I don't know anything about that as I've never hosted an event in sl but a possible solution is you can send a notecard with the updated information to the group assuming you have a group.
  9. Idk about that. I've started some of my best conversations on sl this way.
  10. Not everyone comes on SL to socialize. It's the world's biggest dress up and decoration game.
  11. I second Muddy's if you're looking for someone to talk to, that club is usually a good start. London City is kinda cliquey if that kind of thing bothers you. Except I don't have auto-response. I don't like it.
  12. A college campus is a closed off and controlled environment. It has a very different culture than the real world.
  13. I guess I've won since you've resorted to correcting my grammar. Either way, I'm speaking from my experience and giving my opinion. I'm allowed to have opinions whether you think I'm right or wrong.
  14. 🤷‍♀️ You can observe how well they function when they leave academia and try to get a job outside of it.
  15. Meh. Academics tend to go from university to university and have never experienced the real world. This is a general observation. I obviously don't know anything about OP.
  16. But SL isn't a MMORPG...? You should probably put more effort into your project. I googled your post and I see you posted the same thing all over the internet lol.
