  1. Uploading objects with collapsed LOD's is almost always done to bring down LI. Not to save a creator money, it is a matter of customers expecting a very smooth and detailed item to have a LI of 1. Stuff like that sells.... coz ppl expect the impossible. This is what made creators do this. Lots of the most popular designers use this "trick", even some of the most amazing Gacha stuff collapses to ugly triangles when you zoom out. Try setting your LOD to 2 and go shopping, you will be amazed (not in a good way). Never ever set you LOD to 8. Nor to 6... This is very bad advice! 4 is already very high! The problem, as stated many, many times on the forum, is that most creators do not care to make nice LOD's and advice customers to set their LOD to 4. Some creators are just not aware of how LOD's work, some never see how their creations look from a distance coz they have their own viewer set to 4 (not a standard setting). Also there just is a big market for this as ppl love a low LI and make the most out of the primcount on their land.
  2. 2 minutes huh...? You are prepared to change clothes or re-rezz an object every 2 minutes? That sounds like a lot of work... maybe you could spend that time on a job in SL and just buy the item with the earnings?
  3. You can do that yourself. For free even. Check out the free versions of AVG, Malwarebytes and CCleaner.

    Make baby

Welll... no birds and bees here. You buy a pregnant tummy, after about 8-9 months(or 1- 5 or whenever you, and everyone around you, gets bored with the tummy talker/spammer, it's your SL, your rules) you buy a prim baby. About that time you should already have land, a house, a nursery etc. to make sure your child has everything it needs. But for real... You do not make a baby in SL, you buy one (unless you are a mesh baby creator obviously). The prim baby does not care if it has a crib, it does not care at all about anything, it is a prim. Easy as that.
  5. To be clear... a script is run on the servers of LL. Not on your computer! I would clean the cache of your viewer, maybe run some cleaning/anti mallware/virus software on your machine itself and see if this solves your problems. As stated, the script of a collar will not affect your avatar when it is not worn. It can also not affect your alts that never wore that/a collar. This sound more like having a lousy connection to the internet. Check you viewer settings, depending on your rig, there is only so much SL it can handle. Check you connection settings, check you graphic settings. See if it occurs in busy sims, if it is on busy land it could just be lag. I think you may have just panicked and now blame everything on the collar and the "friend". Breath, strip down all that you are wearing. Check that on your Worn Tab in inventory and put on some stuff you are sure of you bought yourself... just to be sure there are no scipts at work here.
  6. When I was a lot more active in-world ( before I became a creator), I have attended some memorials and I lost some friends over time. Memorials are more common then funerals in my experience. Fact that there is no body may be a reason. Afterall, when dead IRL, you cannot log in to have your avatar put to virtual rest. The friends lost were mostly due to cancer, sadly. One of these friends I met when he was already diagnosed, I never knew him in a healthy state. It was well known that he was going to die and he was extremely open about that fact. Now another aspect of this discussion is the question: Is the person that died really dead? Most of the time it is hard to get any info regarding this unless you are, or know someone, that is close or at least well informed about the RL od the deceased. Most of the time you don't know that much about ppl that you socialize with, sometimes you think you know much about them... You know what they want you to know. Also some ppl are just really into RP and fake their own dead, some get into trouble and some just want to start over. And some are just very... sick in the head. In SL there never is "What you see is what you get".
  7. Just as illegal as owning a crowbar IRL... it all depends on what it is used for. The tool and the intention are 2 separate things.
  8. Clans are often putting pressure on their members to hunt actively and get as many minions as possible. This is just how Bloodlines and similar in-world games work. So promises are made to get that new member but your liege and clan will not always keep the promises... after all, why would they, you are in, you got the hud and you made your liege rise a bit in the BL charts. They got what they wanted. Be aware that it can also get annoying for a clan to have some members that are lazy, don't hunt and freeload on the bloodtanks. Maybe you could make more of an effort to feed yourself? To other posters... the food ment here is blood. Used in a vampire RP game. (A money pit if you ask me, but whatever rocks your coffin )
  9. Muting the owner used to work. But maybe you could just cut that long story short and tell the owner that you are being spammed and work it out?
  10. Tho SL has some things that are free, like groupgifts and dollarbies, land is rarely free. Once in a few month's ppl post on the forum and offer a piece of land for free. But this is very, very rare. Also, as mentioned, you are then reliable on that landowner. If they give up the land you are homeless once again. For building or making money you will need something more reliable. There is only one way to get land for "free". Become a premium member and you get a 512 plot on the mainland. You have to look for that yourself, some plots are very cheap, but you will still have to invest some L$ to get it. If you accept the 512 plot, you will no longer be able to get a Linden Home. This is a "free" as it gets.
  11. I'll join in to be sure you get the required number of group members. Coz I like your initiative and would love to see this become successful. Just send me an IM or invite in-world.
  12. I don't have the luxury of feeling bored or alone, I am lucky if RL lets me log in for a few hours of fun, but...lately I have been spotting a lot of post from ppl being lonely or bored. Not a good thing at all. I think you have something here, it does sound like fun. Give it a shot and start by reading posts on this forum, try invite some ppl that are brave enough to reach out. Pls be aware some freaks and other nuts will join in too, try to ignore those:catlol:
  13. How about just making it transparent, just that prim cube you added yourself. Attach the clothing to any point you see fit before doing that. Position the prim at the location least visible, make it as small as possible and then make it transparent. You need to do that in Edit Linked and select just your own added prim.
  14. As SL is a virtual world it is something you play when you have time to play. It is not, for most anyway, the top priority in our lives. Meaning... sometimes ppl do avoid close relationships. A relationship and/or a family takes up a lot of time in order for it to work for everyone involved. Ppl are aware you have to invest a lot of time in order to give everyone what they deserve. It would not be fair to commit when you know RL will get in the way. Therefor ppl sometimes will keep their distance. So it's not you, it is just reality kicking in. Also, playing a child avatar makes it a bit more complicated. Only a small percentage of the residents want to "play along". As a kid avatar this makes your SL world way smaller and the ppl that would like to participate are more rare. This choice was yours and I don't know how dedicated you are to staying a child... you could also consider "growing up" and see if this will open some doors?
  15. There is a downside to every form of building. That's why I sometimes "mix and match" the tools we have. At times a prim will be best, at times a sculpt (tho I use those less and less) and sometimes mesh is the best option. No need to stick to just meshes. There are a few catches to mesh. First of all, LOD building is important when you use mesh, best is to build your own LOD's. This will prevent the collapsing of your object at a distance. Playing with the LOD's can make a big difference in the LI. It can also ruin it, especially for ppl that have set their LOD to a low number. Mesh needs physics to make it possible to for example walk through a doorway or on a floor. To prevent walking through walls etc. Again, there are a few options here, build them yourself or let the uploader do it for you. Sometimes building them yourself is better and sometimes, once you figure out the uploader settings, that is the way to go. What settings are best depends on the size of your mesh and whether you want them to be seen from a big distance or if they are used just indoors. Indoors you can get away with a low LI most of the time by having very low LOD's. There is just no easy answer to your question. Too many variables to just have it boil down to one answer. Once you get into making mesh it is important to watch a lot of tutorials and read many posts here on the forum. For more general building questions you can also search for Blender tutorials and fit that what you learn into the pipeline Blender to SL. Medhue just made a very clear video explaning LOD here .Here is a video that walks you trough SL physics by Elenora Newell Making mesh is a trail and error path, you will probably make some mistakes in the beginning and yeah, you probably will change your workflow a few times coz you find a better way to create something. Have fun building!
  16. Whaha, considering I have seen on the forum at times, and how often I have to read some of the posts out loud and/or re-read a few times... I do know some ppl do think they don't need it. :catwink:
  17. As Alwin said, it depends. Clothing parts made of prim, flexi prim or sculpties are adjustable to fit (if they are mod), don't expect a perfect fit, but hey... that never was easy on a system body either. Clothing layers/textures need to be added as an applier tho... so for that you would need to buy appliers, meaning it is a recent creation, you cannot use your old inventory unless the seller included ful pem textures... provided they work with the UV layout of your mesh body.I know this sounds complicated and discouraging but it's up to you to decide if you want a mesh body with all of the pro's and contra's.
  18. Yes, it tells you LL can't pay their bills with L$... duh. This is still a RL company in case you are so into VR that you forgot RL does need RM (Real money).
  19. My experiece on the forum is that the "caps lock cruise control" takes you straight away to the " we either rant, laugh or ignore you department" of the forums.:matte-motes-delicious: Loads of fun there!
  20. You are very welcome. Let us know if the problem persists. EDIT: here you can find how to do a clean install: https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231
  21. I am not an expert but it sounds like your setup should work just fine to run SL. Did you change any of the settings within the viewer? There are many, may settings in the viewer that could be ruining your SL experience.Try reinstall your viewer, make that a clean install. There are a few viewers you can use, not just the LL viewer, try another viewer. I use Firestorm and I have for a long time, never gave me much trouble. It would be a shame to see you leave SL just coz your viewer is acting up!
  22. English is not my native language so I like to use the spellcheck option on the forum. Is it me or is spellcheck lazy these days? Sometimes it takes a few minutes to check when before it was seconds.
  23. Wow, you do have an interesting profile! Considering you are just a few days old some advise: If you want any ladies (with or without dirty pics or intentions) to react, you might want to work a bit on your typing, social skills and ehhh... on that profile of yours. I am absolutely sure a lot of ladies are looking for your type, the (open for any) thin kind of guy. Happy huntings!:smileylol:
