  1. That depends on the body. If the mesh uses the same UV layout as the "original" SL body you can just slap a tatoo on the templates we have been using from the start of SL. Scroll down to ClothingTextureTemplates: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Clothing_Tutorials If the body is created by a 3th-party you will need the UV layout from that product. You may be able to request it if you know who created it. Some creators provide kits.

    Mesh Body

This should get you started: http://meshbodyaddicts.com/mesh-body-reviews/ and this might be helpful too: http://meshbodyaddicts.com/mesh-body-designers-list/ Tip: if you use appliers to start with, dressing up is a bit more economical. Appliers are, most of the time, cheaper then mesh clothing. Make sure the mesh body of your choice can use those appliers. If you find yourself happy with the body you picked out, you can always start investing in a mesh made wardrobe.
  3. It would be great to have some more details. What went wrong? Did you fail to upload your mesh to SL? Did you get any error messages? Was the prim count/land impact different from what you expected? What format did you use to upload to SL? Did you build/use LOD's? Stuff like that would be most helpful! There should not be any addon needed to export out of Blender into SL. There are tons of tutorials on You Tube on using Blender to create for SL. Some interface changes a bit over time, but not that much that you would not be able to work with those tutorials. Just the versions before 1.5 (if I am correct, it may be 1.4, lol) are very different. I would not recommend using those unless you already know your way around Blender!
  4. This morning I woke up and was pleasantly suprised to find a discount on a MD course special for us clothing designers. I welcome these discounts, as creating for SL is not only time consuming but also very costly if you choose to use some software packs. In the past I sometimes used MD in my workflow, in general, I found it to be a nice piece of software. Big BUT comming tho... MD creates very, very messy topology! It spits out "quads" now, a big step forward, but it still is very messy and weight painting is a nightmare. The meshes are very dense, unless you lower this manually. This means you have to do a whole new retopology to make it usable, to make it have a good flow to animate and to not lag out the severs of SL. I believe people should be very aware of these extra steps. This is of the most importance, to keep land impact of clothing reasonable and to make it behave good in SL. I still wonder why heavy land impact on clothing is not punished yet and I wonder why this is not mentioned clearly about MD. Many new creators will use MD, without retopology, weightpaint the mesh badly or automatic transfer the weights resulting in ugly movement. So, to make a long story short... using MD is cool! BUT, do retopology and spare us the lag. Be prepared to buy software like Zbrush or simulair to convert your meshes into low(er) poly meshes with a logical edge flow. There are some ways to do this in Zbrush (you will lose UV layout tho) or use Maya and transfer your UV's. A free aternative is Blender, you should however learn to do retopology manualy with, for example Bsurfaces. There a some tutorials on these workflows on You Tube, but all have a downside and it is far from easy to get this done right. To all that will start using MD, or are are using it already. Please take this to heart. It is a great piece of software but it will not spit out a finished and usable mesh. If you like to keep SL low lag, be prepared to do these needed extra steps! I am afaraid tho, that many ppl will not take this advice and we will be stuck with tank tops that have 5000 tris, that will not rez for an hour and make SL one big happy lag world!
  5. I'm having trouble entering too. The button is there, but it's not doing anything for me. I have a few posts on the forum, so that can't be the problem. I've been trying for 48 hours to enter the contest. This is on Chrome browser btw. EDIT: Mind the date (year) of the contest you are trying to enter. Lot's of links that are posted direct you to the old 2013 contest. Obviously that is closed. For me posting worked much better in the 2015 contest ;-P
  6. Looking for someone to write me, or point me to a script for sale that does this: Click an object, let's say a lamp (this would be a mesh and a linkset), I want a menu where colors can be picked, that both changes the color of one or more parts (and preferably faces) in that linkset AND at the same time changes the light color to that same color. I have been looking for some time and fail to find anything that does this.
  7. Thank you both for anwsering! I will have to come up with a different solution. The GIF is about 300 frames long so the "old" way is not an option, image quality would be terrible at the least. A movie in shared media isn't an option either, again, the transparency will not work. Shame, it would have been a fun project....
  8. So, I dunno if this is at all possible. I created a GIF that has a transparent background. It has a lot of frames so I figured shared media would the best and maybe only option to make this run smooth and crispy in SL. The promblem is tho, when I upload it to my blog and copy the url for the image/GIF, it does not show the transparent background when I use it in shared media, no matter what I try. Is it even possible to acomplish this at all using shared media? Has anyone ever tried this before?
  9. It has been a few weeks for me now, changed my pass several times and still no sync. Not very pleasant as I am waiting to test some scripts on my build and they are still stuck in the main grid. In other words, I cannot do my work as a creator and am losing Lindens as we speak. I would have to upload the build to the main grid, risking the chance it will not be as I wish and loose my upload costs. So yeah... this kinda sux! For those who cannot log into the Aditi grid or think they can't., your old password should still work. If you still cannot log with the old pass, then I sadly have no idea how to get in either. Just hoping that this will help one or two ppl knocking on the gates of Aditi.
  10. For me it didn't work in my own (Chrome) browser either. Then I tried the viewers internal (Firestorm Viewer) browser and that did work for me.
  11. Oh, yes, I am always very confused/ disapointed/ a tiny bit passed off ( pick your choice ) when I react very prompt and correct to a customer having an issue with a product, and then never receiving any reaction or feedback. Luckily this is only a very small part of the customers. Guess it's just all about pride and honor. I rather do the right thing and know at the end of the day, that I am a good, service oriented, merchant, then to let that small group drive up my blood pressure. Of course, like in this case, when a customer leaves a bad review without having tried to fix the "problem" in-world trough IM... Then it's very hard to give some decent customer service. A very clear case of "You get what you ask for". *grin*
  12. Ty Monty, for clearing this up for us. Think I will try the lil trick that you used Jack. Who knows... I might be able to rezz some meshes after the 24 hr wait. :-) Hope it gets solved sooner tho!
  13. Maybe change the texture name to slightly or light mossy? I think they look mossy but... I would maybe also assume they match another product named mossy, if you buy it from the same merchant. That doesn't mean you named it wrong, it just means most creators do use the same name for one line of products. And customers tend to generalize us :-). Maybe you could just send the customer a more "mossy" version and ask in return to edit their review/comment? That's how I would try to solve this. Just my humble oppinion ;-) Your products are amazing ( I own some) and I love your textures, so, yea, your products deserve to get more then 1 star for sure!
  14. I don't think the reset of your password has anything to do with the error you are receiving. I can't get into the beta grid either. Haven't been able for about a day now. I did not reset my password recently so it's probably a server issue. I do hope it gets solved today. I've got a ton of meshes screaming on my HD to get onto the beta grid for LI testing.
  15. Ty for your response. I guess I will go n do that.
  16. Hello fellow merchants, I have been trying to put my newest release on the Marketplace for 2 days now. For some reason I cannot set the category. I filled in the whole list, as usual, but when I try to update the product it tells me that I did not choose a category. When I scroll down I can see it is filled in tho... I tried several ways to get it to work. I tried a different, more general category, I tried bulk editing, I tried editing them 1 by 1, I tried doing it all over, and over, and over... I did not miss any of the other required fields either. I have been a merchant for a long time so you could say I can fill in the form with 2 fingers up my nose and my eyes closed ;-). This really puzzles me! Am I the only one having this problem?
