  1. Honestly.... if you are planning on having a 1/4 or half sim.... Just do it yourself. The amount of income from such a small piece of land is next to nothing. There is no way you will make enough money to support a staff. People own multiple sims and take care of all the building and management by themselves. You don't need to be a builder or scripter to do it. Just buy what you need, pre made off the Marketplace and rezz it. Take it slow and learn as you go. And... Have fun with it. That's the most important part. Good luck.
  2. Torley! You are just like Redzone.... except you only out your own alts. :smileyvery-happy:

  5. Isn't there an AR category called "encroachment" or something along those lines? That would be the one to file. I think they respond fairly quickly to that type of stuff. Make sure you are right next to the object and include a screen-shot.
  6. http://secondlife.com/land/rentals.php Rental Rate: Land rental rates are different depending on whether you want to rent islands or space on the Mainland. Islands can be rented at US$50 per region per day Mainland Regions can be rented at L$4000 per region per day Events sponsored by or to the benefit of non-profit organizations will receive a discounted rate of L$3000 per Region per day. Details Reservations must be made 2 weeks in advance, and are on a first-come first-served basis. Residents must include a full description of the event when applying. Minimal rental period is 3 days. Residents are allowed to terraform the land, but do not incur tier fees for temporary ownership of the land. Residents cannot transfer the land during the rental period. The original state of the Regions will be saved immediately before the rental period. At the conclusion of the rental period, the Regions will be restored. Lindens should not be asked to get involved just because someone broke up with their GF. Imagine how much of their time gets wasted with this kind of stuff the next time you wonder why ARs are delayed.
  8. I guess I would have probably removed it before I filed the AR and then just not filed the AR. If it happened all the time I would certainly report it, but how much grief could it honestly be causing if you have the ability to return it? It's almost like you are abusing yourself by leaving it there.
  9. That's what I thought too... but there was more positive reviews than negative reviews on BestBuy. So... I was hoping maybe someone here has tried something similar.
  10. LOL. Two points for making me laugh
  11. Has anyone ever used this type with crystals inside? I like the idea of not having anothe cord plugged into a USB port that I would have to fiddle with every time I want to change locations, but... do they actually cool off the lap top any or just protect what is underneath the pad?
  12. Sure. Just create a new account from the web site... just like you did the first time. If you are already logged into the web site with your first avatar just log off first.

Chele.Static wrote: Well, I did, but I thought if I bought a piece of land from an estate owner they could control all sorts of things for the whole area like environmental settings and fly zone bans and stuff. Plus, I'm a little confused (haha, little) about things like the tier payments...don't you pay them to individuals if you buy from individuals? In general, the ones I'd seen for individuals seem steeper than what I would pay Linden, taking into account my first 512m has no tier payment. Which brings me to another point of confusion (maybe I should post a diff thread?)... If I buy 1024m, do I pay the tier level for 512m, since that first 512 is waived? If that's true, how does it work if I buy 4096m? The next tier level down from that is only 2048, adding the 512 brings it to an between- tier amount, which makes me pay the higher tier level, right? So do you only benefit from the waived 512 m if you limit to 1024? I think I need a book... If you look at the Land Search in the viewer you can check off Mainland For Sale and it will filter out the private estate listings. If you buy a Mainland parcel you have complete control over the parcel settings that you described above and you will pay your tier directly to Linden Lab. Once you buy a mainland parcel from another resident... you own it, unlike when you "buy" from a private estate which is really just renting. You get 512 for free with your premium membership. If you want 1024 you have to pay $5 US per month for the aditional 512. If you want 1536 then you pay $8 per month for the aditional 1024. If you pay for 4096 you could actually buy 5120. Take a look here https://secure-web45.secondlife.com/my/account/landfees.php?lang=en-US
  14. I have never heard of a waiting period. Not to derail your thread... but have you considered just buying a Mainland parcel from another resident? There are tons of parcels for sale right now at rock bottom prices. The search feature built into the viewer works very well. You can sort by size and price per square meter. Message was edited by: Eli SchlegalPlus you are helping the economy. Your money will go to another resident rather than going to Linden Lab

Thanks for helping This is so much fun! Yes absolutely. Some sculpted trees actually come with the leafy ground cover. I'm not in-world at the moment but if you send me an IM I can drop some land marks on you.
  16. It's good that you asked these questions before you purchased. No you can not change the terain texture on mainland. If it's a snow sim it is going to stay that way. You could always put down a grass textured prim over the terrain but it's hard to make that look natural. Changing your viewer to midnight does not effect your neighbors. Most mainland is +/- 4 meters. You can tell what the terrain limits are by looking in the world menu when you are on the sim. I think you look under estate tools or something like that. There is no way to tell if the land is already raised or lowered to the limit before you buy unfortunately. If you want to know what 4 meters looks like just create a prim and stretch it to 4 meters long. Hope this helps.
  17. Interesting question. I guess the thing to do would be AR it quickly and be as specific as you can. Make sure to mention voice and as many hot-button keywords as you can that are actually relevevant. Hopefully if it's a case of racism or verbal sexual assault there would be a Linden coming right out and they might actually hear the abuse on voice. Otherwise I don't know how you would document it. I don't know if the lindens ever talk to witnesses.
  18. Is it really necessary or even beneficial to de-frag daily?

  21. It is the thread. You just don't want to admit you were stretching the truth.
  22. Alt post. Yup. You caught me. I'm alt posting on an account from 2006. I made it back then because I knew you would be here in 2010 and I'd be afraid to come on here and face you. ummm what else ya got?
