  1. Thank you Eli & Nyll I think that is what I'm going to do - buy mainland from another SL resident. You've been very helpful!
  2. Well, I did, but I thought if I bought a piece of land from an estate owner they could control all sorts of things for the whole area like environmental settings and fly zone bans and stuff. Plus, I'm a little confused (haha, little) about things like the tier payments...don't you pay them to individuals if you buy from individuals? In general, the ones I'd seen for individuals seem steeper than what I would pay Linden, taking into account my first 512m has no tier payment. Which brings me to another point of confusion (maybe I should post a diff thread?)... If I buy 1024m, do I pay the tier level for 512m, since that first 512 is waived? If that's true, how does it work if I buy 4096m? The next tier level down from that is only 2048, adding the 512 brings it to an between- tier amount, which makes me pay the higher tier level, right? So do you only benefit from the waived 512 m if you limit to 1024? I think I need a book...
  3.   I know I read this somewhere, but now I can't find it. I originally thought I had to be a member for 14 days before purchasing land, and even if I became a premium member before that I would have to finish the trial period before buying land. So,my credit card info has all been on file (due to my SL shopping habit) and I've waited 14 days, and am now trying to bid on auctioned land and become a premium member at the same time. Due to a billing error message I wound up on the phone with support (making sure I was not billed twice) and they told me I had to wait 14 days after becoming a premium member to buy at an auction....true??? I realize the rules may not be the same for private estates, but I was interested in mainland sold by Linden.
  4. Yikes! I'm glad I asked! Yes, snow year round is not what I'm looking for. So, if I find one that's grass that would be best, I guess. I still want to add landscaping like a river and forest... I saw some cool looking fall leaf groundscaping (?) on someone else's property... would that be easy enough to add on top of a grass sim if I wanted to, periodically? Thanks for helping This is so much fun!
  5.   Hi,     I'm new to all this and have been looking at mainland parcels for auction. One that I'm interested in is completely winter scened (as well as the neighbor's land). This is not something I have to be concerned about, is it? Cause I can redo all the terrain and make it be summertime, right? It's for sale by Linden, not a private owner.   Another quick question (or two...)   When I change environment settings day to night it only affects me and my parcel, right? Not neighbors?   When I view a parcel for auction and the terrain is set way below the neighbors land, how do I know how low is too low? I heard there was a 4m rule for change on mainland...but is there a quick reference for 4m around? Like a giant ruler? lol Thanks, any tips will be greatly appreciated
