  1. To last question: right. Parcels can be set to public because only people in groups on the region access list can get to the island. BTW. People in a group with access may be able get to the island without activating the group sometime, but that is not reliable. Hence you need to remind people that access requires activating one of the allowed groups. TKR
  2. I'm not sure I understand what you want. If you have multiple groups that you want to let into your island, you can use the region-estate panel, Estate window for that. If all these groups can also go to all the parcels, you can just set the parcels to public. If you want parcels to have different groups, you can set each parcel to one specific group, but only one per parcel. If your need is more complex than that, I know of no method except setting access lists for each parcel.

  6. Here are some things we do in SL; What do we do in Second Life? 2012 http://virtualoutworlding.blogspot.com/2012/01/kif-what-do-we-do-in-second-life-2012.html Look over the list and see if you see some things you like. Then use searcn to look for places that offer these and that you can go to. If you can't get to places you find interestng, then you may want to drop out and maybe come back when you are 18. TKR
  7. I have 2 theater-related groups on my Cookie estate, have a mailing list of people interested in theater productions, and another list of people interested in participating in theater (as actors or in other tasks). I would be glad to distribute notecards from you to these groups. Just send me any notecard you want distributed. You may want to include a LM to your place. I will also be interested in convering your production in my blog when it is near opening time. http://virtualoutworlding.blogspot.com/ TKR
  8. I am aleady on 4 open source grids -- SpotON3d (accessed via Facebook), Inworldz, Reaction grid, and Jokadia. And some of my friends are on those grids, too. So we would meet in those places. And for what I pay for land in SL, I could have an archipelago in one of those places. TKR
  9. The symptoms you describe (landmarks say cant teleport in a timely manner ,,tried to make a NC says i dont have permission) suggest that you are experiencing network lag. That may just be temporary. It can be a problem with the sim you are on, however, so it might last. You could also have restrictions on your account, but they would normally get a message mentioning the restrictions. You can enter a sim name or a slurl in the "Start here" box if you have a specific place you want to go to. Or you can try the Destination guide Destination Guide (Second Life) http://secondlife.com/destinations/ the Visit option will log you into that location. If you have a landmark you want to go to, right click it and click "Show Map." On the map, click the copy slurl button to get the slurl.. Save that in a text file to use when you next log it. Note: If you are under 18, you will not be able to go to any sims except those marked General. If you came in through an institution (college, for example) your account may be restricted to a sim or sims owned by that institution. If you are over 16, you can create your own account. That will not be restricted. TKR

  19. Apparently there is a bug in the Linden Home system that makes the system think you are trying to rez on property that does not belong to you. A suggested work-around is to try to rez in the exact center of the property. It may take several tries, but if you find a place that will allow you to rez, you can use it repeatedly and move the objects to where you want them. Also: Be sure you are wearing the right group tag Wait a bit before you try to rez For more information on the bug: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-7902? I will post this information on my blog. It appears to be a common problem. TKR

  21. My experience: the group continues to own the sim and objects set to the group will not be returned. You can be safer by also setting autoreturn to zero, turning it off. You can set the parcel controls so that only group members can rez. TKR
