  1. If you like setting up sims why not offer your services to individuals with a dream or passion, but dont have the technical ability to build it. That gives you the enjoyment of building a project without the expense and gives the dreamer the chance to see their dream come to fruition.
  2. And my pet peeve is when they don't list a price. If you want me to consider buying something from you, give me all the relevant details in your listing. I am not going to teleport there to look for the price. No price, not interested.
  3. Great comments everyone and thanks Tessa for your detective work 🙂 I am amazed that people see value in these blocks and I have no idea how paying nearly $1,000USD for a few thousand sq m is viable. It is all mind boggling and as others have remarked a little disheartening if you want to win a little parcel in an auction and get blown out of the water in the last few seconds.
  4. thanks Tessa, and lovely to meet you out there flying around having a look 🙂
  5. I was just browsing the recent land auctions and was surprised to see the following winning bids... 512m general land - winning bid L$80,000 Amazing! 1024m moderate - winning bid L$200,000. 200k for 1024m. Eye popping! That is nearly 1,000 real world dollars for a tiny bit of virtual land. 1024m moderate - winning bid L$75,000 with 13 bidders. What on earth was special about this???? 12 small blocks of moderate land over $L20,000 and 2 small blocks of general land over $L20,000. That is a lot of money being splashed around for very small parcels of land! I found it most interesting 🙂 Have a great day, Space
  6. Many years ago I was a board member of an international sporting organisation. To reduce the amount of travel needed to attend annual board meetings, I arranged for every one of those old codgers on the board to get a SL account and log in and we held a board meeting inside Second Life. We did this twice during my time on the board. It was a great experience for them all. If we could do it, then yes, I would expect the CEO of Second Life to log in every now and then and immerse himself in his own product.
  7. My family play a VR minigolf game together, from different locations. I have seen some videos where the developers discuss the challenges they faced for each new course they developed. Many of the technical restrictions they faced are due to the limitations of the VR system. VR at the moment seems to involve a set graphical environment which is fixed in place that allows the user to interact in a minimal manner. In the mini golf game, the course is static with the players moving around and the ball interacting with the surfaces. In SL the environment is not static. It can be changed by the avatar at any moment when you build or debuild an object. I am not sure how easy it is, from a technical point of view for VR, like Quest, to handle SL when it can be constantly moving. Other more learned people might enlighten us on these technical aspects.
  8. When I am in SL, I am this avatar. My brain moves into a mode that is her. When I interact with others in SL, romantically, sexually, or socially I take them at face value. What I see in front of me is what I am interested in. I have no idea, usually, what they look like in RL and I don't care. If they are friendly in SL, that is an attractive quality. I will then judge them on their actions towards me, not on what is between their legs in RL. Have a lovely day, Space
  9. A few years ago, a friend of mine had an idea for a "place", she had a vision. She put details about her vision in her profile. Three months later someone approached her because a friend of a friend had read her profile, and offered to fund her vision by buying her a region and paying the fees for an agreed period of time. She proceeded to build a new, interesting location that attracted a lot of people and gave many people pleasure. If someone has a passion to create something amazing there are many others happy to help and none of it requires reducing the price of regions. What is required first is passion and a vision and the ability to communicate this to others. Have a lovely day, Space.
  10. Thanks for your very detailed reply. I will go hunting around and see how others do similar activities. I did see a boat for sale where anyone could use it and once the user stops, the boat returns to the owner. That might prevent objects floating around in the ocean 🙂 regards Space.
  11. Hi, apologies if this is not the correct forum, but I wasn't sure where it might fit. I would like to build a marina and in that marina I would like to a) rent space for other people to moor their boat and b) rent my boats to other people. So, I think, in part A I am trying to rent out space and in part B I am trying to rent out an object. A) I looked on the marketplace for ideas and I think the rental systems there are mostly related to renting out a space, if I am correct. Does this mean for something like a boat, I would have to carve up my marina into thin areas, one area for each boat? B) I didnt really see anything that would suit renting out just a boat itself. Whilst it might be parked in the space you rent, it would also, potentially, be taken out for a sail which removes it from its original space. Trying to get my head around that one. Any thoughts and/or suggestions most welcome. Thanks in advance, Space.

  20. Hi, I am looking for a board (like a notice board) that customers can click and it puts their name on the board. Perhaps the board might hold ten names? If the person clicks the board again their name drops off. Does anyone know if such a thing exists and what it would be called. I have hunted around in the marketplace but I cant really find something simple like this and dont know what to really search for as most noticeboard do other things... lol Any polite suggestions are most welcome... Thanks in advance Space
