Not sure what's up with it, tried doing fresh installs and everything, but no matter what I do it freezes to unresponsiveness whenever a bone is manipulated (it bounces back after a few seconds, but it's pretty annoying to work with 80% of the work time being just waiting for it to catch its breath). Not having any performance issues with anything else with the computer either, it's just with Qavimator. I got it working once when rebooting the computer, but that broke again. Any ideas what might be causing it?

From what I gather, the creator isn't active anymore, so I guess it might be time to start considering alternatives if it can't be fixed - so, alternatively to fixes, are there any animation programs that doesn't require me to work in Blender?

VERY old program and especially if you are on Win11 it just may not work any longer. You can run a utilities program like Glary and see if you can fix any issue. Updates break things for me regularly but usually Glary fixes it.  And yes, creator has stopped working long ago.  I liked it too as it was simple.   Your current choice is Blender with Avastar == at least that is what most folks are using.

  2. Clothing that covers pretty much the whole body "may" work. Easier in the winter certainly.  You will need an alpha layer to make your body itself disappear.   I am pretty sure there are some alpha layers in the library along with the default clothing.  While Senra is big step ahead, it is still an experiment and so far most creators haven't opted in. BUT you can likely still use older clothing like for Slink etc.  Just try demos as well as gifts to see what you can find. Gabriel has a store with its older clothing for almost free == assuming it is still there to the left before you get to the main shopping area.

I did a blog post on Senra when it first came out. Here is the one for the males but I was mostly looking at improving the look and not for clothing.  https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2023/08/updating-your-ll-senra-avatar-for-free_0902081922.html

Updated versions not released yet. Just looking through the last month of weekend sales, I've found one creator that advertised a single piece of clothing as being available for Senra Jamie, but it required an Alpha layer that was not supplied. (Scroll up a couple of posts in this thread.)  Nothing new showing up in the MP.

I can't say that if I made clothes I would be "jumping" to create. But maybe eventually. There were some real problems with the first release -- unless of course you WANTED to look pregnant LOL.  Appreciate the info.

  4. Haven't followed this thread as aside from testing and blogging I am not using SENRA, but ---

Has LL put out the improved version yet? I have only seen an announcement for the kits for creators being sent out.

Are there actually creators creating for SENRA bodies?  I haven't seen any.

Just try to keep up :D Thanks.

im wearing the default skin from the legacy hud and the default skin for my head lelutka

That won't work. You need skins MADE to work together from the same skin store. I don't know anything about Legacy but assume it came with a body skin then try using that with the head skin (or tattoo depending ) .   Or the other way around. If you decide to buy new skin be SURE AND DEMO them until you get a good match.

Sometimes there are neck changes on the body (I don't have yours) that you need to try out to get a good smooth neck seam.  Sometimes depending on the skin maker the skin will just NOT look right no matter what you do even if you are following all these things. In that case it is the skin maker's fault :D.   You might also ask in the Legacy group and or the Lelutka group if there are certain skin brands that work well.

So I made a little shed with snow to go with the house.  Because most folks living out in the country have CLUTTER. Lots and lots of outside clutter.  So now to fill it will clutter and I am sure I have plenty.

For anyone that NEEDS a little snowy shed this will be my gift from Shop and Hop.

It's starting to look pretty cozy over there.

Yep, now we are getting realistic.

  7. When I tried to find some "free money" places for a newbie blog post the only thing I found was some trivia AND of those places that advertised none were active.  That was a few months back but doubt it has changed much.  I made all my "creative" money by camping way back then but that was when bots were brand new and there were still a lot of people camping.

If you're blessed with an abundance of LI, take a look at this Christmas tree from Noveny - 22 LI for the tree and 4 LI for the prezzies below. $50 this weekend.

You know it is a pretty tree with nice presents but "I" couldn't get past the ornaments floating in air and not on any branches or within the greenery.

  9. Making progress. AND a comment not so much in favor of all the portraits in the thread recently. There are already THREE main (and more) "show me your avatar"  threads. Would be good to have this about our INVIRONMENT as I believe it was meant to be -- at least I took it that way.

Anyway, working on some outside décor. So far I haven't purchased anything and have found some forgotten things (and remembered things) in my inventory.  Also retextured one of my old interior sets. I had done this before during our decorating at Snowglobe winter but they disappeared from my inventory so ONE MORE TIME.

  10. Simplistically put the "best practices" rules have not really changed over time. If you have a simple décor item you can use a cube (or a hex which is now in FS menu --many thanks as I used to use my home made one and more steps there).

For building or anything else that needs to have CORRECT PHYSICS == learn how to make a physics model.  I use cubes and analyze and Aquila likes planes. EITHER method will give you good physics when needed.

Depending on how you make your mesh objects the uploader can and often does give you a reasonable and viable LOD mode; (IF YOU TEST IT).  But the uploader has never done a good job with physics.  You "can" oftentimes use the highest setting and the physics will work but this method is less than great and adds land impact to your build.   I have been known when feeling lazy to occasionally use the uploader for physics in Opensim where no one really cares about land impact (and the physics does work)  but I have NEVER used the uploader physics it in SL LOL.

ALWAYS CHECK THE INFO IN THE UPLOAD PANEL before uploadng.

Thanks again for Aquila's great explanations that will hopefully keep helping folks learn.

I've relogged several times.  I've tp'd to various regions, and used several alts - same problem.  The "about land" tab shows about 200 prims "missing"; I had about 400 to go and now there's about 600 free.  Large chunks of my railway are missing, and normally the train follows the track but the track parts have simply disappeared so the trains wander off aimlessly until they pick up another piece and go the wrong way, so I've had to disable them in case they disappear never to be seen again.

I have submitted a support ticket for this as it is clearly something very wierd going on.  The random nature of the disappeared parts I think I'm fairly sure weren't anything I might have done accidently.

If you have checked everything mentioned here AND tried an alternate viewer -- then the answer is "yes" they can just disappear.  :D

I had a build rezzed on my half sim plot last May so that the folks at SL20B could see my vintage build to be put on a large plot as part of the look back.  The build was OKed but when I went to pick it up the main part of the build was gone   and none of the build (all by ME) was in my inventory.  So I wrote and explained the issue and opted out of course.

The database is extremely fickle at least with my account with its inventory laid out in subfolders according to dev advice and is only 72K after 16 years and lots of building and backups.

I will say that it is VERY RARE for things to disappear after being rezzed. It is however not a foolproof solution. This is of course anecdotal evidence and just my experience.

    Is it done yet????!!!    grins

Yes all done. Starting to decorate but quitting for the day.  I have 700 land impact so I can clutter to my heart's content. This will likely mean adding snow to some outdoor things. Want to be consistent. Feel free to explore.

I haven't set the EEP yet (amazing I can do that with a rental) so you may have to fiddle in order to SEE things LOL. I typically keep MY EEP set at MY favorite setting :D.

Sorry about the marker look. I use Dark Reader and sometimes this happens when pasting (extra code comes with).

What a cute little house, Chic.  I think I have to have it!  Who created it?

    LOL

Me. The house isn't new  but I just made the snow add on for it. It will be included in the pack SOON (like today) but wait a bit cause if I get into Shop and Hop it will be on sale there LOL.  I found some great snow land from the forums the other day so I get a winter snow place without having to look SO HARD and sometimes not finding.

I had a Trompe Loeil house out first and I really like it but I am NOT a "big house" person and it was just overwhelming so this is more my style.  I am going to decorate it hopefully in my great-grandmother's memory -- the right era.   So fun. Thanks for the comment.

That is exactly what I always did for many years.
In this house however I could not even rezz a box. I rezzed a box outside the house and dragged it into the house and on the floor, After resizing and make it transparent I can rezz whatever I want.

It is the same issue still of course. THEN you need to rez on the ground outside and drag it in to start with. it is a pain, agreed.

I remember dramalama dingdong. Chic can not post information, how to find things, suggestions to update the avatar for free... not even set her signature on her images. I know it has been people after you, it is rather insane sometimes. It is strange that it is only ONE person who is doing it wrong.

I use Flickr, and I like to put a signature on the Flickr images. If people click on an image, they come to Flickr. It is many others doing it and I really can not see wrong in that. It would be very little activity in threads.

Well I hope it works for you.  I make TWO copies of a photo now if it is an edited one and not just a "snippet".  Hence I don't post near as much as it is extra work and I guess I am still a little mad about it all :D.   You did a lovely job with your photo!

  16. Had to smile at the "undocumented feature" comment.  Creators need to choose a PHYSICS model (if even a cube) but better yet in many cases like in houses MAKE a correct physics model.   It really would be better IMO if they uploader would just refuse to upload without a physics model.

And the answer has been for over a decade "rez a prim and use that to rez on. A rug usually works fine and you can make your prim the size of a room and then make it invisible via the transparent choice in the build menu.

Some of our "best" creators still are making houses that won't let you rez inside. A very sad state of affairs.

Over a decade ago one of the folk on the VERY ACTIVE THEN mesh board told me that I should always apply, location= rotation=scale and transform origin to geometry (this maybe for standard things like furniture and houses).  I started doing that religiously every time and it has saved me so many worries and work.   Folks reading this might want to make a "sticky note" or some such thing. Worth the few seconds it takes each time.
