Love the picture Chic, what wall/build is that in the background?

It is my Scarlet Creative "house on a rock" house but the "look" is partially my graphics program :D.   SORRY.,   "wink".

Not inworld but picture here. It is at ground level on UMBER sim.    https://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2023/02/zanzibar-hideaway.html

Ahh. looks like it must be called "zanibar" from the title. I was a bad girl and didn't paste in the build name in the main text.   It is a super cute little house with lots of character.

  2. Long ago when I was teaching classes the best place to "advertise" was in the EVENTS classifieds (not the forums as not that many folks read the forums really. We are kind of "niche" which isn't a bad thing  just limits things) .

Personally I think it is going to be difficult to get folks to pay a group fee or even take part for free.   Realistically "I" could give classes in home styling as I have taken RL classes.  If you have a DEGREE in home decorating then certainly put that in your ad.

In years past it was much easier to get folks into classrooms (not role play but actual learning classes). These days enthusiasm seems very much down in that area so if this doesn't work out -- don't think it is "you" = it most likely is NOT :D.  Good luck.

  3. I was thinking along the lines of Aquila yesterday when I read this but knew she would explain better and with pretty pictures.

As to the "WHY" of your problem, it "could" have happened if the uploader "made" the physics model (almost always a bad idea) rather than having built one in their 3D program.   The more complex a building is -- especially when it is not divided into sections with their own physics models and then put together in SL, the more issues can arise.

To be fair to the creator, IF the building worked well as designed, they did their job.  There is never any guarantee that an item can be modded as the purchaser wants :D even it it IS modifiable.

  4. I admit that I didn't read ALL of this thread so far as most posts were from folks who hadn't even been there (yes, well) BUT "I" was there right after the event opened, had no issues at all with textures rezzing. The important thing is that the creators apparently HAD A CHOICE as many gifts were right there to be picked up.  There were some "additional huds for the products being sold" given as "gifts" and I agree that is tacky for sure.

Another important note from someone who picked up many of the gifts (like 50) given out at the event (not makeup that I can't wear and a few other things I avoided) and opened all those boxes --- this has some of the nicest clothing of any even of late -- right up there with some of the Shop and Hops but with much less work.  I have two blog posts in my queue for next week and I had a great time doing the fashion show portion -- something I can just barely remember having fun with.

So instead of everyone complaining -- maybe actually doing some homework before saying stuff that isn't really true might be a better idea.

Personally I am keeping more from this event (again didn't go to the main stores) as any of late. Some venues don't even blog because they are so poor.

THANKS to the designers who went the extra mile and made worthwhile presents.

  5. I went over and got the hud thinking I would make a blog post.   Text was SO SMALL on the hud (and I do  NOT have a 4k monitor)  I could barely read it, then after reading was completely confused; had no idea what to do.  And of course I am VERY OLD so hopefully should not be confused.

Looked around and missed any info that might be out there explaining so maybe a notecard giver on landing?

I have to say I was not impressed with my journey -- sadly.

  6. You didn't really give enough info but here is a start.

Most likely YOU did it by accident.  If you are in Firestorm Viewer you can open up the Quick View panel and click the X at the bottom to take you back to the default look of the sim.

You can also cycle through the WATER tab and find one that you like if you don't like the default.

If you are renting  a parcel from an estate there is a CHANCE that the landlord changed the water and you are stuck with that as the  default but you can still change the look for YOU in the choices.

You can do this in the Linden viewer also but I am not really sure where that is.

If you are heading your business in that direction, you will eventually want to use Blogotex.

    Or not  LOL.

While I was on BlogOtex at its beginning and "grandfathered in" by some people I had blogged for (like decades) I eventually left as a blogger there.  It works well for some creators but I have always like TALKING to the folks I blog for == now and then anyway.   I am sure it works well for some creators and for some bloggers but you CAN opt out and still do well -- with or without events.

That wasn't an argument with your statement, just a segue on the theme of the thread.

  8. So BRON is giving away 400 store credit. Group  costs 30 to join. The items "I" looked at were 349.   So basically you get an item of your choice for 30 lindens and can stay in group for other gifts (there are two past gifts on the wall).

The quality is very good.  I did NOT try them on the SENRA avatar (this is a friend with an altamura body. Legacy works well for THAT body).  But might be worth checking out some demos.  There are some plaid shirts and even some shoes which would in theory work for "most" bodies.

Here is what he picked out.  Shirt and vest come together.  Comes with a big hud to change everything but the color of the vest (buttons, trim, shirt etc)

but where did you move it? I came back to see it and it was gone

Ahh. Well it was SUPPOSED to go over on the furniture thread but someone had already posted.  Picture up now on my blog.  Link in footer :D.  FINCA cute little table with a waterfront village deco.

  10. OK. I did  a test with JAMIE and both old and new body fits as well as "fitmesh".  I didn't try Slink as I didn't have any but I did try about six or seven fits and nothing came close at AL (and I do mean at all) to the body I had which was very close to one of the default shapes.

I am guessing this was a PLAN but since shoulders, tummy, boobs and even general placement were well off in my test I am guess that folks will need either BOM or something made especially for that body (and hence often will not be free).

So far there doesn't seem to be anything. Will take time.

  11. Cute event styling  but wanted to say that  it might be a bit early to look for bloggers. At this point as there is really no info on the website other than the 100 lindens and under mention. There are no rules for bloggers listed, or requirements (maybe there are none LOL). But most (seasoned) bloggers that I know aren't going to apply without a bit more knowledge.

I do wish you all the best though. It is a tough event world out there these days == was happy to see something other than plain white booths though :D.  Appreciated.

Geez. That's petty. Most artists sign their work as a means of saying it's a completed work or that they shouldn't continue working it. It's not advertising.

LET'S bet back on topic  LOL. Didn't mean to lead us astray.

    SOOOOOOO ---

I am wondering if there is a "mesh body fit" that works pretty well with the avatars. Any comments on that?  In theory there will be some clothing made especially for both guys and gals but wondering what else might work.

I admit that I haven't tried but would be good to know. If already mentioned I missed it.

I had a friend in college that looked very much like your Blake.  He was 19 and a sophomore when I met him, and he always looked like a teenager until he reached age 30.  Even the glasses are the same.

But my question is, why did LL make their first Mesh/Bento head avatars look like younger teenagers?  Are they really going after the 16 and up Z generation?  Silly question really since it's obvious.

Yes I noted that "young" look also. Nothing wrong with that especially since the "original settlers" are getting pretty darn old now.

And I DO agree that the new realms LOOKED better than the old but it was pretty obvious then that it was not meant for the new folks like the old one was.  I tried a few times but after the first couple of days and even with not many avatars there few crystals appeared and some of the places you needed to go on the quests I NEVER figured out.

Again and to get back on topic sort of as we have strayed a bit into "new folks" territory -- I think the new avatars are a big step up from the old I just wish there was something for the new folks to DO to make money (like in Sansar) == even money that they could only spend on the Marketplace. That would help both new folks get their look together, learn how the Marketplace works,  help creators  and get a bit of income for LL from the sale of the items (creators get their money and LL gets there cut).

Even the Glythes were super fun but you couldn't DO anything after you caught a gazillion glytches LOL. So back then and now still I think being able to turn in say 50 common glytches for 10 lindens would let the folks that really needed the money get some.

But the new avatars are certainly a step in the right direction for grid growth IMO (there I "bookended" my comment :D.
