AndroidBox is having an in-store hunt.  10 items free, no group needed.  It's basically a Halloween outfit but they do nice work.

That seems to be a wrong name as many searches pulled up nothing.  Landmark maybe?  I think I know who you mean but I can't find anything in my inventory :D

    Thanks.

  2. From what happened to you it is MOST likely that a small file got corrupted. Info in that at the link Rowan gave. The easiest way to check if something is REALLY wrong and gone is to log in on a different viewer -- so the Linden viewer if you are using Firestorm or another viewer if you use the Linden viewer.

That being said things DO GO MISSING and there are hundreds or thousands of folks that can attest to that. Even the devs admitted it a few years back. So if loosing something for real is something that you cannot deal with then you will likely need to makes some choices.  In many cases you can get the items missing BACK from a redelivery terminal at the store you purchased the item from. That helps sometimes.

BTW IF the whole folder is missing and not just empty that is a whole nother thing and in my experience the items have just be GONE. Now and then they may sprinkle back in appearing in odd places (NOT the lost and found but more like lipstick showing up in home and garden).  I have NO clue about that but always nice to find missing things showing back up.

  3. 64 meters is only for LINKED objects so you can make something 54 meters and then drag a copy.   Don't forget stairs or a teleport system so folks can get where they need to go.  Once you get things the way you want (the dragging copy thing) then LOCK the build down.

    That's one way anyway.

I wonder if people now spend more money on their avatar and clothing / accessories for it,  and less on everything else.

By "everything else", I mean houses, things for their houses, things for their parcels, etc.  (due to Linden Homes needing less landscaping done, having less LI available than you may get with a larger parcel).

Well there are still people going to the popular events but it is MUCH  easier to get in early now rather than waiting a week (literally and with events with cam sims) to get in.  I think (and I said this a couple of years ago when it started) that a whole lot of folks just shop the sales now.  I certainly do and while I still buy H and G items (more than clothes as I have a ton of those) I almost never buy a new release at a new release price.  If I blog something new it is either a blogger sample or I just blog the item in situ with some clever photography crafting.

We also lost the gachas for the most part and that certainly took a lot of profits away from those that made those sets.  Those are the two SL centric factors IMO.  Then there are of course wars and economic issues. More folks in the US are living on savings and credit cards than on actual income these days.   SOME folks are simply cutting back on extras.

And you CAN have a perfectly fun and full virtual life here without spending money.  Thanks to the creators that help with that.

Also what account do you use to post? Do you have to make a new account with your avatar name?

Well most of the folks that I know that have "feeds" do have avatar accounts.  I only have YouTube (well there is a Facebook account for Chic with much dust on it  that was made  like 13 years ago for  a contest or something but I was never really into Facebook even as Chic).  Some folks call me an "influencer" but it is only on my blog, NOT social media or even YouTube since I finished the Blender tutorials.  :D

And thinking on your point -- which I didn't until you commentewd -- is it OK with the TOS of those platforms (Insta and Tok) to have avatar accounts?  Guessing it must be.

Now if this was going to be more like the contests at University of Western Australia (with lots more money on the table and a panel of real people voting on winners) then yes, it would look more legit and less like cheap advertising.

Still I hope folks that do it have fun and actually  make something worthy.

  6. As a long time machinimatographer (now retired) I am happy to see this and agree it is "cheap publicity".

My two main thoughts  are  --- it that it is way to easy to game the results.

And what was my second thought?  -- it is way too easy to game the results LOL.

Been there done that so many times shaking my head at the "winner".  .

I do very much hope that LL publishes the results of the contest -- something that they don't always do and it makes me wonder.

Also for folks FILMING --- make sure you have PERMISSION TO FILM in your inviorment in accordance with the photo and machinama policies.

  7. I didn't read ALL that input (amazed that some folks can talk longer than even "I" can) BUT here are my thoughts.

In general from talking to the creators that I have known for a decade or so, sales are down over the past. For ME sales are about half of what they were last year. I am still making half sim rent money and extra but no way this is a living. In the PAST I basically paid all my living experiences. So yes, a change there.

I no longer do events because instead of making up to 120K in a event I was breaking even. Well to me that was a "no brainer" so except for summer shop and hop I am out -- for now anyway. Some to many creators are still doing events for exposure. Some have quit.

Currently I am still creating but my creations are all almost free or completely free and that works fine for me. I haven't cashed out since Tilia TOS came into play and I am still OK with that so there is no point in working hard to make a buck when I have tons of linden dollars that I don't spend LOL.

As for the future ---- I am not terribly interested in PBR as we had that in Sansar and while nice I don't consider it a game changer. What might BE  game changer will be mobile. So waiting for that to drop is something I am looking forward to however it turns out.

I am not as worried about the platform as I have been in times past, just watching to see what happens and glad that I am not trying to put the kids through college with my net revenue.

I pretty much 'cash out' now once a year to pay for my rl property taxes. I did put in a support ticket to see if I can get my limit raised

BEFORE that wasn't a good option but new owners now so good luck with that.  I haven't cashed out since Tilia. If I ever get poor enough to go against my beliefs to pay for groceries then I will have a problem LOL.

as it relates to 'daily' or monthly limits. I tried to find the ducumentation can't find it anywhere, I went to transfer a large amount to my paypal it said it exceeded the daily limit, so i transfered a bit over half the amount and the next day I went to transfer the remainder then the message said it exceeded my montly limit "for my tier level" (I am a free account) Anybody  have a link to where the daily or monthly limits are talked about?

In the PAST anyway you had to put in a ticket asking to increase you cash out limits. This works if you make more per month than you are able to cash out.  If that isn't the case they may still OK since you are "old" and "stable" (just assuming). You have to jump through some hoops to do that (or you did).

Best really to send out what you make on a regular basis if you can.

  10. You need to stand in front of something solid like a wall or the sky. Anything with an alpha (transparent) shadow will do that if you have on hair that ALSO has an alpha channel.   So don't take photos with trees or bushes BEHIND your hair --- move the view over a bit and you can still have them in the photo, just NOT behind your hair.

  11. You need to DERENDER AND BLOCK (that block is important or they will come back when you relog each time).   There IS a setting for GLOW that is likely (hopefully) in the Linden viewer also. That would help with some of it perhaps but not all.

  12. While all the comments above are true (and most everyone gets caught a time or two somehow) I have a couple of ideas.

    • You might want to contact the CRS again with your complaint.
    • After that you might want to contact the maker you brought from in case the CSR isn't doing THEIR JOB.
    • You then if all else is still failing you might want to contact the owner of the event the creator is selling from and let them know the problem.

In my experience event owners usually DON'T want to know when something is wrong but it is worth a try.

PS. This is all a lot of work for 60 lindens or so but I understand the frustration.

Lots of things out for the weekend again at Nutmeg. The biggest DEAL is the couch which apparently includes the pull out bed with pallet as well as the empty pallet on the left -- according to the sign.  I bought it so will come back and report in a bit.

EDIT:  Both A and PG versions are included. 18 land impact. Fairly heavy mesh as you might expect but there is also a LOT there.  The biggest "lag" issue is that there are 68 textures (OMG).

  14. In the VERY olden days some shapes were no mod. Now days I doubt that there are many or ANY that sell that way. There is no way to "protect: a mod shape. It is very much like recipes in real life. There are no copyrights.  Anyone can copy a no mod shape even in SL and resell. In my mind having a shape store is more about the adventure than actually selling.  It is simply too easy for folks to make shapes.   Adding style cards would help, but again, anyone could copy that easily.
