They do need to hurry. I am already selling PBR stuff with fallback textures. I think they are underestimating how big PBR will be. This is a big transition and I think firestorm team has unrealistic expectations about how smooth it's supposed to be. And I say this as someone who has been using firestorm PBR since alpha.

I haven't been following this thread but wanted to say that from MY viewpoint and MY friends (anecdotal evidence) and comments on the PBR thread there are lots of folks who don't love PBR for a variety of reasons. When we had PBR in Sansar creators also had the ability to set the environment and it was NOT CHANGABLE as it is in SL. This is a BIG issue.

And there are tons of building problems yet to be solved.  I understand creators jumping on the bandwagon as it comes out of the garage and I DO believe that we will have PBR whether we want it or not, but I am HAPPY the FS folks are taking their time.

Just my two cents -- take it or ignore it LOL

how does LL plan to enforce the modesty layer

You are assuming that LL actually plans to enforce the rules. Historically that has not been the case on OH SO MANY occasions.   Rules are there mostly for the company's protection and appearances sake.  I have turned in a lot of TOS violations over the years and very few have been rectified.

Maybe asking this at the May 20th (I think) roundtable would be your best bet.

Have you tried logging in on the website and not through a viewer and on another browser?

In the past this DID work so I suggest trying as Rowan says.  You can either OK the TOS via logging in the website or via the viewer. EACH avatar will need to do this.     The only thing that apparently changed was the Child Avatar restrictions.  You can see them here  https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Clarification_of_policy_disallowing_ageplay?_gl=1*13mxq7i*_ga*MjgyMTEzMzA0LjE2MjEzNzU1NjA.*_ga_T7G7P6DCEC*MTcxNDgzODgxMy40NDMzLjEuMTcxNDgzOTA1My4wLjAuMTU0MTM5NDM5MA..*_fplc*b2l0Qkc3aGFHNnNlOHViaURBWVolMkJ2ZWlFSkdyVXFjMGo0Zms4d0RqY0ZoQnlxdlJtV2VZUkJ1Rml2JTJGVElVWFd3QmIlMkJBODNtJTJGT29RT1FEclY1JTJCUmh1UkZvU1pjS1YlMkJDbFZzRmkzOTNJOVVyY2VBY1gyNU81ZkE2ZTJTd1FBJTNEJTNE

You can also read the current TOS o the website .

But under Terms and Conditions, it does have today's date and a.link to the new policy.

I don't think that means they changed ALL THOSE POLICIES (I want that strikethrough text option back!  I see that was officially answered (sort of).  Of course only one in a hundred people are going to reread all those -- including ME this time as I really don't care (this is an edit)

have sort of left the building for now and of course the activates involved were not in my interest column.  So for me it didn't matter.  I am blogging and doing customer support and that is about it. This, I think is only the second year (2013 was another) that I am not participating with free stuff at the birthday celebration.  Really not feeling the love here.

  5. I didn't read all of this but if it hasn't been mentioned, the TOS that we were asked to "sign again" still has the  2017 date on it (or did this morning anyway). Now the TOS INCLUDES all those other documents that are linked and that you are suppose to read.   My guess is --- and it would have been good of them to TELL US -- is that the only thing that changed was the child avatar document which DOES have today's date.

Note date at the bottom.  WOULD BE GOOD TO KNOW THAT!!!!

My account was accessed and everything was deleted of course I put in a support ticket to get it back(my account) but not sure they could do anything about them deleting my inventory. I saw somewhere that you could look at older versions of your inventory somewhere but I'm not sure if that's true

In theory they "should" be able to go to a backup file and get back your inventory.  I have NOT however ever heard of that happening.   Please let us know if it does.

No it literally got deleted it has nothing to do with firestrorm or sl

I don't think that will make much sense to anyone LOL.  Can you explain in more detail what exactly happened.   If YOU deleted them then they are of course gone.  If the database lost them -- again they are gone and redelivery is likely your only hope. Sorry.

EDIT: Your inventory is NOT on YOUR computer.

  8. Try logging in on an alternate viewer (like Linden if you use Firestorm or the other way around).  If they are there -- they never disappeared. If they are NOT there they are likely gone forever.   At least that has been my experiences (oh so many) over he years.

Don't forget, Win 11 has a built in AI that will monitor everything you do and will report you to the authorities if you stray.

I have as much as possible turned off and opt out of all the Microsoft wants me to do.

Resistance if futile unfortunately. If they care I am watching 10 years of the newer Hawaii Five O and reading the PERN books I don't mind.

  10. Mine is an Alienware that I got during COVID and the 3070 chip shortage. It was the most expensive computer I had ever purchased at something like 2300 USD  maybe (over 2000 for sure when I am more in the 1700 range).  It is doing very well still .

I did find a sim that made it crash this week. I am pretty sure it was the very pretty but extremely heavy sim.  That is the only issue I have had.

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800 8-Core Processor               (3393.62 MHz)
Memory: 16310 MB (Used: 219 MB)
    Concurrency: 16
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 19045.4355)
    Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070/PCIe/SSE2
    Graphics Card Memory: 8192 MB

    Windows Graphics Driver Version: 31.0.15.3619
    OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 536.19

PS if you  have the option of getting Win11 pro I think you will have fewer issues then Win11 home == at least that seems to be what is happening for friends compared to mine (I had no choice LOL)  This on my notebook. If you haven't had Win11 Glary Utilities is DEFINITELY YOUR FRIEND.  I hope my desktop lasts me a very long time.

  11. Getting money out easier isn't going to entice creators to Opensim.  There is still the "godmode" issue. Kitely does a very good job WITHIN Kitely but even on that Marketplace if you choose to export there is a fair chance that your items will be passes around (much like full perm in SL).  I was on a couple of grids that had ways to process credit from within the grid and they worked fine. Kitely transfers out profits automatically to Paypal each week if you have had enough sales.

In the best of all possible worlds if there WAS an issue in SL a bunch of good creators could move over to Kitely where there is almost (or no) overhead and we could have a very similar grid to play on.  But I can't see that happening because getting enough creators over there to attract folks that want to have vast low cost regions is really difficult.

For a time in 2013 and 2014 Opensim was really "hot" and there was a lot going on and sales were good. But I still don't see that exodus again unless something really major happens.   There needs to be more shoppers to entice creators and more good creators to entice shoppers LOL.

Anyway, back to the topic: one benefit of LL selling Tilia is, LL can focus on their core business of Second Life without managing Tilia, too.

It will be interesting to see the logical gymnastics used to dispute my statement above.

True and I will keep my fingers crossed BUT it was made very clear when Openheimer bought LL that he WANTED Tilia and SL was a secondary acquisition that came along for the ride.  So it could also go in the opposite direction.  There has been time for Openheimer to "embrace" SL more of course and hoping that is the case.

Meanwhile on other comments since I looked last -- I mostly know H and G creators, not clothing or mesh bodies etc but many of the furniture and house makers are downsizing in both land and events and I am in there with them.  So even before this latest change there WERE movements going on at least in some arenas.

Then I would think we would need to agree to another TOS. Which I thought just those that cash out had to agree to the Tilla Tos.

No. Anyone buying linden dollars needs to also --or selling without processing credit. Those that process credit need to prove who they are which includes driver's license or passport and proof of residence.

Anyone who has had anything to do with linden dollars other than earning them inworld by working for example has agreed. At one point (not sure about now) there was the tiniest text on the page that said something like "by continuing with this transaction you are agreeing with the Tilia TOS and privacy policy" (PP only for US folks).   So a ton of folks that don't care, pay attention or don't read LOL have agreed and don't even know it.

OH WELL. I actually read the TOS and privacy policies (again) before agreeing. It took me an hour and a half :D.

That's really my only concern.. I get real touchy when it comes to my payment information..

At&t Just got hit and my information got nabbed.. Now I have another free identity theft protection for a year from them.. funny they decided to raise prices two weeks after they got hit.. Bastages having customers covering the costs of the companies own leaks.

So ya, I'm trigger happy on pulling my info if I get leery, in a heart beat.. I'm about done spending anymore money in this world anyways. This right here is just  something that might make that happen sooner than later.

It seems likely (no info on this at all) that the folks that are buying Tilia are buying the DATABASE with customers and client information.  So (to me) it seems like they will already have anyone's info --- especially those that processed credit out to Paypal.  When I agreed to the Tilia TOS at the very end of last year (after they had changed their TOS to the better) I didn't have to redo any info. It just went right through once it recognized me.  I had been "cashing out" monthly before Tilia was divided from SL.

So my fingers are crossed that I don't regret that move.

If I became Premium years before Tilia (on my main and my Alt), would I have been asked later to accept Tilia T&A? I seem to have a dim memory of it.

Yes. the primary reason I gave up my Premium membership when it ran out a year after Belli opened.

AND It is very likely that anyone using the new company may have to agree again as the TOS will likely change.

All that being said (and glad I have all my money in my brick and mortar bank now) there WAS a time when LL was thinking about letting folks pay for premium with linden dollars. This from Patch on the forums and I was still at LEA7 MOSP so many years ago.  I couldn't see any advantage for them with that and it never happened.

There could be a chance that they look at that again.
