Question

Hello,

I am looking for the Alt-Zoom camera mentioned under Equipment in the Wiki.

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Machinima

It is described as:

  • Alt-Zoom Camera - A free camera designed to create dolly shots. You can find it in Lukanida. (BuhBuhCuh Fairchild) [29]

It says that the camera is available in Lukanida but the place no longer exists. Can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance. :)

Alt-Zoom camera just means hold down the Alt key on your keyboard and left click anywhere, on an object, land, avatar etc You willl find you can them move or zoom your camera using your mouse & mousewheel.  For even more movement, you can hold down Alt & Ctrl.  It takes a bit of getting used to but you will love it once you master it.

If you are on a V2 style viewer, such as the LL official viewer or Firestorm etc. Click on the button on the camera control panel with a pic of a cam on it & you will find "Object View", switching that on locks the alt key on, so that you don't have to hold it down yourself.

Hey there -- I did some research on this as I had been wondering too. It seems that there actually WAS an Alt-Zoom camera around 2007. You can see a video telling you how to use it here : http://www.5min.com/Video/Second-Life----How-Alt-zoom-the-camera-6999   BUT, like very much of the wiki, the machinima section has not been kept up -- like almost at all :D.   So, as far as I can tell, it is no longer available and it is very likely that improvements in the viewer have made it unnecessary.

There IS another system out there that lets you set up cameras and triggers and such that might be helpful to you. You can read about it here : http://slmachinimaarts.ning.com/forum/topics/bijocam-construction-system  and you can visit the set up on world. There are also some videos on it. I haven't tried it, and we aren't supposed to recommend anyway, but that is the only camera set up that "I" have found other than a camera angle setter which you can find on the marketplace.

Good luck with your machinima.
