Question

I downloaded the July update a few days ago and have been suffering ever since.

I have to play on the lowest graphics setting because now If i go one setting higher (turning basic shaders on) my previous settings before the update, icrash within seconds. Even on lowest quality, enviroments load slowly and the game lags, I have a very very strong internet connection that worked fine before the viewer update. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this, or am I able to downgrade to the previous viewer until a patch comes out to fix the July update issues I am having. The grid says issues should be fixed but this has been going on for days..

Thanks in advance for your help!

It may be best to uninstall the current version of your viewer and re-install a previous one ( available at (http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes ) or try another V2 viewer like Firestorm >>>> http://www.phoenixviewer.com .  The automatic download and update feature is enabled by default, but if you would prefer to download and install new versions manually, so that you don't get "forced" updates, you may do so by un-checking the 'Automatically download and install Second Life updates' box on the Setup tab in Me > Preferences.

To give you any meaningful answer we really need to know which viewer you were using before you updated.

Even better would be knowing what your system is. In the viewer, even before login, click Help -> About and copy paste the result in any post where you ask for technical help.

For general graphics tweaking see: Graphics Tweaking for Second Life

Without knowing if you are Windows or Apple those offering help can only give generic answers that may or may not help you.

Yep, 2.7.4 is a real pain. With Basic and Atmospheric shaders on my fps is now 5-7 where it was 35-40. As if i have lightning and shadows on. And when i now turn off Basic and Atmospheric shaders my fps jumps from 5-7 to 50-60. Crazy.

What i think what happened is that buttons in the preferences graphics tab have been mixed up with program code which might already may have happened with 3.7.3 since that version dropped my fps ~10 already.

I think this because the Crtl+Alt+T trick doesn't work anymore with Basic and Atmospheric on where it did not work with lightning and shadows with 2.7.2 (didn't check 2.7.3 on this).

I haven't seen a single viewer2 work properly accepted yet. I thought 2.7.2 finally had pulled it of but then it went all wrong again. My internet is very fast and my computer spot on at the recommened specifications, so much higher than basic requirements.

I went back to 2.7.2 and turned off automatic updates, and keep that off. For normal use i am still on 1.23.5 btw. Viewer2 i use when absolutely necessary like designing and layered clothing or more attachment points. 1.23.5 is very very fast and stable.

Download 1.23.5

Download 2.7.2
