Yes, it's rubbish software. Many of us have spoken up to Lexie Linden, who runs the Community Tools User Group sessions on Thursday afternoons in SL. We need a reply button really for this "answers" section. It makes no sense the current way. A lot of people who post questions are confused enough with their problem, and to have to navigate this dreadful software adds to the stress, that is for sure.

You are correct that we wanted comments gone, but that was part of the whole "fix answers and make it a normal forum" problem. There has never been a way for the OP to repost a normal reply on their question apart from using comments, so when we wanted comments gone, obviously some alternate way for the OP to reply was going to be needed.

What happened was that comments are now hidden (but still there) and reply buttons have not yet been added, so its worse now that it was before, but is still being worked on & hopefully we will end up with something that works.

Who knew in 2011 it would be so hard to just have a "normal" forum, where people post a question, others reply, the OP can add more info in further posts, all the posts STAY in chronological order & when the question is resolved the OP can mark it as answered? So that someone else can them come along, open the thread and even click a link to "go to correct answer" which can stay put in its correct order of the thread, instead of making it a random list of replies that make no sense when you try to follow the thread.

It would be nice if the thread moved back to the top of the topics list when someone reposted on it too if we were going for perfection. :)

Totally agree with all in this. I know it's been discussed loads of times in the User Groups, and it shouldn't be that hard to have a "normal" forum layout. Then the only imperfection would perhaps be some of the crap that gets posted (tee hee!) - not by us, of course!!! :matte-motes-tongue:
