furry head/body recommends for felines or canines

currently i own the oh deer avatar by durpbut, but its heavily under supported clothes and skin wise. I think ill pass on UTILIZATOR's kemono and furry heads. i already own avatar 2.0, normie head, mars/venus heads by UTILIZATOR and i'm not really happy with those. 

i avoid bodies that really on solely on appliers, i prefer bom ready bodies, i find it simpler. maybe i just don't understand omega systems that well, who knows XD. (also i tend to reuse heads/bodies for different avatars that all look completely different and omegas/appliers make it more complicated). Though i feel for furries i'll be more ok with using appliers if needed, oh deer uses them.

what i'm leaning towards is feline or dog like heads/skins. i have the slink male, and Maitreya body already (plus several cheap mesh bodies that are bom and work with the popular body sizes) not sure if those can work in conjunction with furry heads.

Fairly supported, a good chunk of skins out there.

Bit of a warning on male body choices, I don't see a ton of support for Slink on the modding or clothing scene, it's typically Belleza Jake or Legacy Male. Both are BOM ready. Most legs/paws are rigged for both.

Maitreya is supported so that's perfectly okay.

Regalia is also a good bet. Also BOM but has specific UVs so only things made for it will work correctly. It has okay clothes support and is furry focused from the start.

Espen is super cute! I'll second Cerberus, though, since I use that one. I have their Canis Bento Head and I absolutely adore it. Great facial expressions, too. Male version here. 

I use her with Maitreya, which offers a lot of flexibility for wearing skins and mods. I'm fully BOM, which I agree is way easier. And of course, finding clothing is never a problem.

For skins, you've got tons of options, but I love Whisk. It looks like Whisk has also started making skins, eyes, brows, and addons for Espen, too. They might be a bit cheaper in-world.

If you want/need paws, you can find some nice accessories at Apricot Paws. They work with a lot of different male and female bodies (Reborn, Kario, Slink, and Kupra included).

Sugarcult - Kibby is pretty popular for mods. Leo has a very nice shape too. Fennex is alright.

Happy Paw - Very popular heads in general, especially the Foxcat, and their shape can be significantly customized with deformers included in the HUD. The eyes are pretty unique, you'll definitely notice it in-world.

I recommend doing a search for the head's name and checking what kinds of mods people have made for them. The product images on the heads themselves don't do justice to any of the ones I've mentioned.

Some heads come with neck extenders (so your head doesn't hover detachedly from your body), but you can also get one separately. Apricot Paws (mentioned above) offers a free neck extender, for example. Depending on your body (and the extender you get), there will be a fairly noticeable seam which you'll probably want to hide with some neck accessory.

i probably should get jake, or legacy male as sometimes i struggle even with finding stuff that fits my slink male one. i'm always hesitant getting new bodies as don't want to end up wasting money again like i did with utilazor. i use avatar 2.0 with the mars head for one of my avatars out of spite so i dont feel like i completely wasted my money XD

Maybe grab demos of Legacy and Jake and run them (and Slink) all over the grid checking out and demoing clothing and body mods you're interested in buying (wings, paws, tails, etc. etc.). Then you can see which bodies have your desired level of support before you start buying anything. Keep in mind that you might want to add new animals to your collection along the way and check support for items you'll need for those, too (I started with a fox, but now I'm more often a deer, and I can't shake the urge to make a birb, rat, maybe a bunny...lol).

i got the demo for gianni and damn i understand why some ppl call slink the "skinny boy" body. i still like slink's male body but gianni would probably be better for any avatars i intend to be more muscular than lean. tbh i hate how gianni's pecks look compared to slink. i like the new signature davis's pecks and just how the muscles look better. but davis is really new, so its iffy.

i need to pick up a demo for legacy. i just know when i was trying to figure out legacy with one of my friend's friend awhile i found it a little convoluted. hopefully its changed since then

Ohhh, I am not a Gianni fan at all. It's just so...muscular lol. Legacy is decent. I have my issues with it (hate the HUD and both my home and photo platform are way up in the sky, so the mesh is always glitching where the alpha cuts are). I got it for half price, though, which made it the cheapest male body at the time. Right now, if the Belleza sale is still on, that would be Jake. Jake also now comes with a mod version - if that's important to you.

The male Slink body is soooo nice - love the shape. But yeah, you likely won't find new releases for it.

ngl i think gianni can work for some avatars i plan on making more muscular. and when ive tried legacy demos in the past i didnt like it much bc the hud too. im wishing geralt was still available since i probably would've liked it but oh well i guess.

Jake is definitely the way to go for a furry mod.  All the male furry feet will fit it and it will go slimmer than Gianni. Though a lot of people dislike the bubble butt, and you also will need either a fully bento AO or at least a bento hand animator, because Belleza bodies have static poses only and they are very prone to the "splayed fingers" thing. Which you will never see yourself, but everyone else will, every time you teleport.
