Is there a lightweight sl viewer that doesn't use a lot of bandwith for a 5120 X 2880 imac?

All viewers have to download the stuff that's going to appear on your screen, and this will be quite intense in certain moments whatever viewer you're on. The SL client can generate the same amount of http traffic as a small office!

You teleport somewhere, there is a lot to fetch and that's not going to change.

If your intent is to limit bandwidth, reduce your draw distance, set you cache as large as you can and try to stick to a few locations as possible (at least when your housemates might notice).

If your activities in SL are enough to interrupt a Pandora stream, then ... maybe you're not the one hogging all the bandwidth.

*puts on her shameless promotion hat*

... try the Catznip Mac release .. it's very nippy ..

Outside of arriving at or moving into new places, which will cause a lot of texture loading, SL doesn't use much internet bandwidth. In this respect, all viewers will be similar. I'm watching the network meter on my iMac at the moment and the YouTube video I'm watching is using 5X the bandwidth of SL.

is the same with me. My wireless TV when I watch Netflix gobbles up way more bandwidth than SL ever does
