0 Ansariel Hiller
It's this feature where you right-click somewhere and select go to (or so - don't remember what it's called in the menu) or just double click (if configured in preferences) and your avatar goes there (or at least tries to go there) automatically. 0 LoveAngeL Lyre
Hello Charolotte. Auto pilot = select this to walk or fly to the double click location. In addition we have another option: In Viewer 2 (i know you use it Charolotte) Menu Advanced --> Debug Settings --> DoubleClickAutoPilot --> Set it to true. As Torley explains, "Some of you may find it useful for navigation. Set it to TRUE, then anywhere you double-click (with the left mouse button) inworld, you'll automatically walk, run, or fly towards. Our autopilot is kind of flakey, so don't be surprised if this doesn't always work and you get an "Autopilot canceled" message. Nevertheless, a fun novelty".
0 Peewee Musytari
Its pretty crap, I think it only works on real terrain too, not on prims. You click the ground and your avvie walks to where you clicked. Double clicking ground used to trigger it but now more people have double-click teleport set instead. 0 Charolotte Caxton
Well now, what does having double click teleport do?
0 Peewee Musytari
You teleport to whereever you double-click.
0 Charolotte Caxton
really? like in the same sim?
0 Peewee Musytari
Actually it works anywhere, you can cam to whereever you want and double-click on anything and you will teleport there.
0 Luc Starsider
Double click tp'ing is really brilliant. (I even do it in my own house ) So quick to get around. Imagine how quick you can get around big stores; double click, and poof you're there! But it only works if the parcel allow you to tp anywhere. If a fixed tp landing zone is set, you will end up at that point every time. If you have the time, you can use autopilot to have your avi walk from point to point. And only if there are no obstacles in the path. - Luc -
0 Peewee Musytari
I agree auto-pilot is lame, I gather it is taught in basic mode now...no clue why.....The only mildly amusing use for it is, if you click the ground behind your avatar and go there, you get to see your avatar walking backwards lol
0 Luc Starsider
No need for auto pilot to walk backwards. At least not if you have a SpaceNavigator. Using it, I'm moonwalking better than MJ. You're right;auto pilot is pretty lame. - Luc -
0 Charolotte Caxton
Well I wonder why I never knew about all this! Thanks for the info! btw Luc, I think I may have found your other glove

0 Peewee Musytari
@ Charlotte, the reason would probably be that most things people share when they discover them start with "hey checkout this cool thing I found today" and I can`t imagine anyone ever sayin that about auto-pilot LOL
0 Charolotte Caxton
lol, well ive been playin with the double click to teleport and it has been way fun, but yeah the auto pilot..
0 Peewee Musytari
Double click TP is awesome, remember that you have it switched on if you are doing some other stuff, like playing board games or scrolling vendors or feeding ducks etc where you left click multiple times or you find yourself TP`ing onto things that you didn`t intend to hehe
0 Charolotte Caxton
oh no! thanks for the heads up!
0 Charolotte Caxton
oh, i just thought of a use for auto pilot. seems like it will be able for me to auto pilot across a stretch of land and then I can photograph myself walking if i want to! /pulls out camera and leaps inworld... 0 Luc Starsider
Yes but no, but yes but no... That would work but it would be easier to move into position, set up the shot, then open your walk animation from your inventory and play it. Then you don't have to work so hard at snapping the pic at the right time. You can spend the time on the composition, the light, and what not. In the resulting picture you will still look as if you are walking. No? - Luc -
0 Charolotte Caxton
Oh. What a fabulous idea! Now if i can just undo the lid on this ao... oh and also, I think it will be good to get me walking cause then I will have like random shots and stuff, but the seting up and preplaning would work great as well, thanks! oh and i just thought what if i am strolling down a stretch of highway or through the wooods, that might be pretty cool too, yeah? 0 Luc Starsider
/me hands Charlotte a lid opening tool. It is a good idea if you need some time making sure a shot is as perfect as it can be. I agree with you. Often the best shots are the more random ones, like you say. Perhaps less perfect, but better still. And a stroll through the woods is never a bad idea. - Luc -
0 Charolotte Caxton
me is still an amateaur photog, will compose some day, still waiting for ao to cycle to get that shot (static poses? wha??) lol
0 SapphicFancy
So, another use for autopilot or "Walk to clicked point" is to free your hands and keyboard so you can "talk" to someone walking with you, or IMing someone.
