Sim crashes

Why is it still possible for an individual to crash a sim, groups of avatars go around sims and crash them, again and again.. sometimes every ten minutes, if you ban them they pop onto another parcel and happily keep doing their thing, if you region ban them, they create another avatar. if you abuse report them, it takes a week or more until something is done.

This problem has been going on for years! How is this still a problem? its time for Linden Labs to get their act together and fix this!

ETA: Do bear in mind that Linden Lab already employs several different types of (escalating) bans that any determined griefer can circumvent and that there is not much they can do concerning the sign up process and that any ideas concerning requiring any sort of Identity/Payment verification have been rehashed endlessly.

ETA 2: There's nothing whatsoever to be confused over - you want a fix. What do you suggest?

I don't get paid by Linden Labs to create solutions, all i know that this stuff is going on for years, and somehow  Linden Labs will not prevent giving every account the ability to crash a region.

well clearly it does not work,

here is the result of the past 2 hours... think that's funny? i think its a blatant shame that Linden Labs seems to be unable to get their act together and fix it, clearly there's some scripting that accounts for this, or some object being attached that crashes a sim,  perhaps even a ddos from outside towards the server, none of which are hard to prevent. don't forget we pay for this service, and its not to much to ask for some decent support and security.

Considering that over the years such incidents have gotten less common and far more targeted I'd say that you're dealing with a person or persons that are quite determined to cause you trouble.

Oh and what I find funny? That you actually think there is some solution that can be applied that is not already being applied. IP Ban? Determined griefer can get around it. MAC/Hardware? Why, ditto! Make it harder to register? They don't care. Tie some form of Real World information to the registration process (no matter what it is)? Congrats, you've made a step backward.

So again, what do you suggest as a fix? Don't have one? Not being paid to come up with it? Tough. Rant all you'd like but don't expect to get the result you want.

Yeah, they fix several sim crashers each year. The griefers consider it a sport. If you report with enough details to repro at a time the Lab has enough free resources to work on it, they'll probably fix it in a few months, and a week or so later, the griefers will have a new crasher.

You've been around SL long enough to know that this is a big improvement over the times when the sims were so vulnerable that the griefers would be back immediately with the next in their inventory of crashers.

you are still thinking of banning accounts... that's the wrong way around, they should close the backdoor that makes it possible to crash a region in the first place, i have no access to the logs, i can not see what is used and how they are able to crash a region, i do know that this has been going on for years and Linden Labs seems to be unable to fix it, that shows sheer lack of competence.

There is no "backdoor" - the regions are being crashed simply by overwhelming them in varied ways.

About what I though concerning what you think is going on versus what the reality is.
