Bree Giffen
Open up a command prompt and type: tracert sim10167.agni.lindenlab.com That works for me. I see 12 hops to it. I assume that server is from the help ->about second life menu in your viewer.

TDD123
11 minutes ago, Leila Refenoir said: looks like a disaster It' s not a disaster, but concise info : From your PC to the sim10167-server is 14 hops. The shortest response times are in your local network area. The indications of * on several lines probably means those are routers not responding to pings ( that usually happens and is normal ) You have reached the server of sim10167 by 14 hops with a response time in total of 274 ms ( not a great reaction time, but sufficient to run SL in not too crowded or content filled areas. You probably tried to repeat the command, but pasted an error, hence the error output on the last 2 commands. All makes sense to me. Leila Refenoir
Hi - many thanks for your comments. What do you suggest now please? Do I strangle my server guy? I live in a really backward part of the world so I got to maybe change server?
TDD123
@Leila : I have no suggestions to make. I'm unknown of your issues and location ( not my business anyway ) and of course your geographical location is a large factor on the network latency you might experience. If you have issues or a bad conneciton, there are several ways to open your ports for better connectivity, but that also requires knowledge about setting up networking ports. ETA : maybe try throttling ( changing ) your Bandwith settings. Setting them lower is usually somewhat slower too, but setting it too high might overwhelm and congest your system with networking data. Try to find a balance. In the other thread, Nalates posted info on what do to. And suggested that you check your SL cache files. Like clear your cache and relog if you are not getting textures in your SL cache folder after a clear then its your connection to the CDN (not to the SL region server which is working as tracert says it is) if you are getting textures in your SL cache folder, but onscreen it is all gray, then its your computer Edited April 18, 2020 by Mollymews ,

TDD123
Don' t wait forever on the download. If it is stuck, cancel it and retry. ( Perhaps rename it to just Secondlife.exe before saving the download for simplicity' s sake ).
Leila Refenoir
I have been trying this with others which do full load on and off for months. Many download ok but apart from the sea it is a grey putty color.

Hmmh .... if you mean 3rd party viewers do download instead of official SL-vierwer I suggest you try installing those. Is there any specific reason you want to use this SL-viewer only ? Leila Refenoir
I have installed and used for ten years - Firestorm and SL viewers. I had two sims and ran a flying and renting enterprise for several years. When I downloaded an update SL viewer recently the problem started. TDD123
You can update ( installing over previous installations ), but over a course of ten years these installations will get corrupted if installing updates over updates. Have you tried uninstalling all other viewers and do a fresh clean install of the viewer first ? Besides that, this will not explain why your download is not finishing. That could be at fault for many reasons. ETA : As a last suggestion I' d say you' d better file a ticket with LL support for this.
