So last month around this time I bought 20000L$ for around £33, now the price for the same amount is now £64? Did something happen during that time that I'm unaware of?

20k is about 81 USD = GBP 58.6 today ...

33 pounds for the same amount of lindens is kinda unbelievable ... for sure at that short term. Think you have to check your purchase history to see if that's really accurate.

I think you misremember.  Here's the data on L$ prices for the past month:

There have been fluctuations in the exchange rate between the US$ and the British pound Sterling during that time, but nothing dramatic enough to account for the swing you're remembering.
