The important thing to understand as you read the Knowledge Base article that Lindal referred to is that your Premium account is prepaid and you will not receive a refund for any amount of it that you do not use. Therefore, if you cancel the account today, you will still be a Premium member with all of the benefits (access to Live Chat and all catagories of Support Case help, Premium sandboxes and experiences, etc.) until the end of the period that you have already paid for.  Your account will not actually be canceled until then, but will be "pending" cancellation. The only exception  is that in order to request cancellation, you have to sell or abandon all land that you own on the Mainland (not land in private estates or any land you are renting).  Therefore, if you own Mainland property it may make sense to delay making the request until the end of your current payment period so that you have full use of the land until just before you actually cancel the account.

This includes abandoning a Linden Home if you have one AND removing all tier donations to groups, if applicable.
