It doesn't really make any difference how someone else organizies hair (or anything else in inventory).  Organize hair in a way that makes sense to you:

  • Length? (Updo, shoulder-length, long....)
  • Style? (Bun, French knot, ponytail....)
  • Color? (Blondes, reds, black .... )
  • Sophistication? (For the ball, for the workplace, sporty ... )
  • By use? (Works with a hat, Great with glasses, Wear at night ... )

All that counts is that the scheme makes sense to you.  Then make yourself a collection of folders and stuff the hair in them.

There's no help for it, you're going to have to try them all on.

I put all my hair in the Body Parts system level folder, in a subfolder called "Hair".  (Duh!)

In the Hair folder, I have separate folders for

  • Baldies
  • Hairbase tattoos
  • Hair Ornaments
  • Short
  • Medium
  • Long
  • Ponytails (If you like pigtails, make a folder tor them too)
  • Updos  (You may want to break this into "casual" and "formal")

Every hairstyle that has more than one color has its own folder in one of those main categories.  I try to give each one a descriptive name, like "short tousled shag - Mike - ZeroStyle"  I list what it is, the name of the style, and the creator.

If it's hair that has re-sizing scripts in every prim, like Damselfly, when I edit one to fit, I make a copy of it, delete the scripts in the copy, and put it into its own subfolder, called "Edited" or "Wear Me"

As you try on your hair, sort it into its appropriate place.  And don't be afraid to weed!  If you havent' worn it in a year, you probably aren't going to miss it if you throw it out.
