Can my alternate open their own market place account

I have an alternate persona and am enjoying it very much....however it is a pain in the nether extremities to buy things in my main account that are transferable only...or go through the gift thing... Is it legal to sign in as that character and open a marketplace/buy lindens account in their name?  

I keep asking questions and maybe someday will understand this 2L experience.  Maybe.....sort of.

Your alternate account is its own entity. It can buy things for itself. You don't have to buy things for it.

Of course.  Every account in SL is a separate entity, whether it is owned by a new RL person or is the alt of a person who is already a member.  You can open a new Marketplace store, and you can buy stuff as your alt too. Your alt is a different person.  I think of mine as my sister.  We live in the same house, but she has her own closets and handles her own bank account and at least some different friends.  (She has her own personality, too, but that's another story.)
