Did you mute yourself by mistake?  Open your People window (the little icon on your lower task bar that looks like people) and then click the tiny gear icon to selectShow Blocked Residents & Objects.  If you are on the list, remove yourself.

Yeah, it's really easy. Unfortunately. Forget to clean your trifocals and then select the wrong name in chat. Then don't look before you click the mute button.

I think I fixed that in Firestorm. Not sure. I'll better test that again...
