Is gambling still legal in second life ?

I was wondering is  gambling still legal in second life ?  If so are we allowed to open a casino ?

Wouldn't see why not. I think basically its a ''Fine do you what you want'', ''But if you get ripped off, its not on us'' type of agreement.

Another question you should be asking is, how legal is it in my RL jurisdiction to run such an operation without a licence?

I mean, I live in England,  where we have a comparatively relaxed attitude to gambling as compared with some places, but -- even if LL were content to permit it, which I doubt they would be -- I'd still be breaking several English gambling laws if I ran a casino in SL without obtaining the relevant UK licences.

Aren't some US states legalizing online gambling and are you going to change your policies to allow chance games like, blackjack, slots, roulette?
I'm not into Cyber Sex so at this point the only thing that would ever bring me back to SL would be my virtual casino.

just because some states are 'legalizing' it does not mean it is going to pass federal muster

This is a resident board.  No one here has the power to change Linden Lab policy.  You would have to contact the lab to find out, but I would not hold my breath on that one.

As was pointed out above, state law does not supercede federal banking laws.  In a similar vein, several states have passed laws allowing use of medicinal marijuana, but the feds can still crack down on producers through the DEA.
