Grid Status shows that LL is investigating.

It can be frustrating, I would suggest not going to bed mad. Breakdowns happen, and there are many interconnected connections between a pc and the servers.

The length of time is a bit longer than I would have guessed it would take.

I usually clean my house if I cannot log into SL. Make some food, watch some you tube videos, view the Earth on google maps, read a book, scoop cat turds from the litter box. (my least favorite)

Sandrika,

Yes LL knows about this.

Just in case you are having issues following links as well:

Scattered Reports of DNS Errors on Login

[Posted 10:00 am PST, 13 February 2013] Some Residents are reporting DNS errors attempting to log in to Second Life.  We’re investigating the issue.

P.S. Just to let you know, 10's of thousands of DNS servers are spread out all through the world at various ISP Data Centers, Large Business Data Centers, Internet Backbone Provider Data Centers, Universities and the like. If there is a problem with a DNS server that Linden Lab controls then the resolution is usually very quick. If there are issues with some of these remotely distributed DNS servers, then the resolution takes a bit longer.

I did the chat-with-a-rep thing.

She told me "Linden Labs  knows about the problem"..

When I checked the status of my report, it said "Resolved".

Seems that by calling it "scattered" and answering that LL knows, they believe they have resolved the issue.

Now they're up to complaining that we're complaining instead of "reading the dozens of other posts on the matter", and even beginning to blame the ISPs.

So, if I were you I wouldn't hold my breath.

The Live Chat response was right on target She answered your question. The techies are working on it, but this obviously isn't a simple one to fix. If it were something in their own servers, it would probably be done by now. When things like this have happened in the past, though, they have involved systems beyond Linden Lab. So relax. There must be something important do do in RL about now. After all, isn't tomorrow Valentine's Day?
