Can I be notified when a friend removes from they're list?

Is it possible to know when a friend takes you off they're list, except by checking your list?

This used to happen on the Phoenix viewer, but I think it was one of the features that was seen as some kind of breach of privacy.

So in short, no, you can't be notified when a friend removes you from their list.

No, there is no other way than looking at your own list. You do not get notification when a friend de-friends you.

IMO, I'm just as glad that you don't get that old notification any more. I tend to accumulate "friends" who are really either newbies I have helped in world or people I have dealt with marginally in business. If I don't pare my list every once in a while, it gets full of names that I don't recognize.  For reasons that I do not understand, a small number of people get truly upset when they are unfriended, even by a near stranger. It's so much nicer to slip away quietly.

I agree with you. That old notification could cause people to be unnecessarily "butthurt", and really, being on a friend list is not a true indication of friendship.

Oh, I SO agree with Rolig on this!

I too collect a lot of "friends in passing", and I too cull my list periodically.  Back when the viewer sent me a message when someone de-friended ME, I used to feel (illogically!) bad when some near-stranger droppped me from their list.  I am so glad I don't get that message any more.

If I happen to notice that someone I truly care about doesn't show up on my list any more, I'll send them an IM and ask "did you mean to do that?"  Otherwise, what I don't notice won't hurt me :matte-motes-kiss:
