SL Skypers!

The point of this is to get to know your buddies through two interesting means, having skype or some other IM application and SL. This way if your not on SL you would still be able to talk right? :P so post what your interested in and your skype name so we can add youuuu.

I am interested in quite a few things, in good/great friends, in finding more people to help with my game development project and for someone to roleplay with ;)... I am not really a "great detailed" roleplayer but I guess I do alright. And right now I feel DEPRIVED D;... been here and there trying to get one person to talk to and they seem to keep logging out or whatnot when it gets really interesting v_v

This represents at least one reason why Skype may not be the preferred method for privacy-inclined users.

 

I've never wanted to use Skype myself, since it doesn't fulfill any of my requirements.

I just use skype to talk to most of my friends. BESIDES I can find info about someone by googling their name and general location lmao.............. its really sad >_<;

I don't really see the point in adding random people from SL in Skype. Most people go inworld when they want to talk to other people from SL. And they logg off when they have to go or when its not that interesting.

I don't think most people will just skype anyone they just meet.  So, posting something like this for people to post "add me, my skype is ____________" (like a fb game add me) probably won't get a lot of responses.  I don't skype, but before I share any of the *real* me (voice, pics, fb rl name) I'd have to know and trust the person.

Escorts & their customers probably do the skype thing much quicker.  But, they're getting paid/paying for it.  I'm assuming one or the other probably deletes that person after their *ahem* transaction is over.

Now, if you're posting this for YOUR friends to find and add their info, ignore the above & have fun with it!

Worring about your IP being revealed is not a huge issue. Its like 'oh look, they're in New York City". Every web site you go to is logging your IP address.

More of a worry is applications that use geolocational information. Such as Twitter (they deliverately keep it less accurate), Google maps, and especially location-specific services like Foursquare, which will peg you within a couple of blocks, if you let it.

I keep geolocation on my smart phone off when I am home, and I turn it on when I travel, as I need to use the mapping tools.

Actually, because of locations and the internet a few people found my home address and I got iTunes gift cards !

But anyway I have a Real Life profile filled with details on me, so if people find something interest or a mutual interest then they can tell me about it in world and after a while I'm up for Skype, I'm never on Skype but I have loads of Second Life people on my Real Life facebook, Skype. emails I even iMessage with them if they have iPhone iPod or iPad so I'm all up for keeping in touch when I'm offline.

It's the friends I make on Second Life that keep me coming and if I'm intouch with them in Real Life too then they give more reason to hand out with there avatar in Second Life !
