I'd imagine so. Clothing and Mesh avatars are created the same way through skinning and bone rigs.

Professional people join Second Life to share their creations with masses of people. There isn't "A lot" of costs it just depends on how you want to run your business. People who join Second Life already have some profession. And most of them can make and earn money in Second Life enough to keep their business running in Second Life using their earning to pay for the costs but don't expect anything from Real Life. You are trying to use Second Life to make money you will have a very unhappy result. The professional people currently in Second Life are actually here sociallising being people and using their Real World skils in Second Life for nothing more but Second Life gain.
-
You cannot "gift" it like an item on the Marketplace... Because Premium membership is a direct payment from your credit/debit card or PayPal. The only way you could do it would be to give your friend your details to enter into their Second Life profile but I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS An alternative method would to be for your friend to set up a payment method in Second Life whether it be a PayPal account or such and you send them the funds to set it up.

Costs for making clothes depends on your method. Each texture will cost you L$10 to upload regardless of it's use everytime you upload a texture it is L$10 If you are creating mesh then depending on the complexity of the mesh item it can vary from L$15 to anything above that. But that is all one off whilst you create your clothing. once you created your clothing item you can distribute it for free on the marketplace in Second Life. they do take about 5% of the sale for delievery charges. If you choose a store in Second Life itself like a physical store then that's where money will go. the land can cost around L$1000 a week if you have a high prim large land size. and again L$10 for every texture uploaded.

Say I have a prim and want to set the faces of the prim to rotate between different textures ever x amount of seconds (so far I know this is is all possible) But instead of having the textures load from within the prim itself they load from a folder hosted on a website for example if I uploaded a bunch of PNGs to http://www.-----.com/images/SLtextures ... Can I get a prim face to rotate through the images I have hosted in that folder online. I haven't played around with HTTP or Server response/request scripts so I wouldn't know :o Thanks in advanced :)

This is very annoying, not sure why this is going on and has happened for a few days now D: ! Basically, I'm getting no IMs or Inventory offers in world! Everything I get is received as an email as if I was offline. Any ideas on what could be the reason for this? Here is a snap shot, image left is me sending out an IM, and the image to the right is the email I recieve. I do not get it as an IM but as an offline email. When I relog I do recieve the IM in the box as if I recieved it whilst being offline. But when I reply back top that IM it will just send any responses to email. Also when I ask them if I am online from their side it says I am offline D: This is my internet speed: Any my system/specs/viewer: Firestorm 4.3.1 (31155) Dec 2 2012 00:45:37 (Firestorm-Release) with Havok support Release Notes You are at 260,007.0, 234,103.0, 2,500.6 in Khisanth located at sim9560.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.44.17:13001) Second Life Server 12.12.10.267913 Error fetching server release notes URL. Not receiving messages in world, but instead in an offline email?

Yes! We are back in world after a brief intermission in Autumn. And now we have returned we are looking for new dedicated staff to join us as permanent members of Club Flare! Firstly a little bit about us. We are a high style club in Second Life offering a unique Second Life clubbing experience. Here at Club Flare the first thing you'll notice is we do not discriminate. At all. EVER! When I started Club Flare my goal was simple. Music from all over the world, by DJs from all over the world to an audience of avatars that are tall, short, young, old, male, female, even non-human! I wanted this place to be open to everyone to come in, dance, enjoy great music with open minded and friendly avatars alike! This mission seems simple but let me tell you it is far from! Being a shorty in Second Life I'm affiliated not by choice mostly with the children of Second Life, this I have no problem but I've experience that a lot of Clubs I chose to go to had a policy which excluded me so I couldn't enjoy the music or the company as I had planned. So my solution to this was something me and my best friend, sister from America and partner in crime Gabrielle Cobalt had decided to do along time ago which was open our own club. And since Club Flares opening back in August it has caught the eye of a wonderful crowd! Club Flare has been featured in Second Life magazine 'The Best of Second Life' and you can check out the article as written by Jee Crazyboi in the October 2012 issue on pages 244-247. Now to the hiring of you! (hopefully)! We are ready to reopen, the website is done, the venue has been built! We are on the Second Life destination guide and I'm constantly telling people about Club Flare, we just lack one important factor. The DJs and the Hosts! DJs are important as they give people who enter the club someone to enjoy and interact with. Club Hosts also help keep the vibe of Club Flare an upbeat and exciting place! So I am hiring both DJ's and Hosts. Club Hosts get 100% tips, picture on the staff page and an @clubflare.co.uk email after 4 months of service. To apply to be a Club Host click this link here! To apply to be a Club DJ please read below as their are more technical sides to being a DJ with Club Flare, so read below and click the link below to apply! DJs: +Dedicated servers are expensive so we make it clear DJs are on a tips only basis but unlike the majority of clubs you keep 100% of the tips and of course I'll stick in a couple hundred if I'm around. +Club Flare is hosting on it's own server which means we are the only stream on there, which means unlimited listeners and unlimited kbps upload speed. We recommend 128 kbps as it's easier for the receiver and sender but of course if you mix your own music that HAS TO BE LISTENED TO IN SUPER UBER HIGH QUALITY you can stream it at a massive 320 kbps. One of the joys of having a dedicated server! +DJ of The Month! This is the big thing Club Flare offers. We reward DJs who are constant with their sets enough to please their audience and get enough votes to be granted DJOTM. This isn't just a title, You also will be rewarded with either L$, Gift cards, Steam Games. The prizes change each month. Awesome Right? +Free Schedule is something no clubs (that I've ever been to) have offered before, the concept is simple. Instead of you saying "I will DJ this day, between these hours every week" You have the opportunity to book in your times. Each DJ is given an account to the Club Flare radio panel and all you do is log in navigate to the time table, select the day you wish to DJ then next to the time you want click "BOOK SLOT" and on the public time table your name will appear! The Club Flare bot sends notices out to the Club Flare group daily reminding people to check the schedule as you have the power to unbook and change slots each week. As long as you DJ a 2 hour set (minimum) per week. You are automatically enrolled to DJOTM. +your.name@clubflare.co.uk Being the nerd I am I love flashy email addresses which say "I belong to something!" and your own @clubflare.co.uk is rewarded to you after 3 months of service. The email address can be used with your smart phone or email client and will be stuck next to your name and picture on the staff page for people to contact you via. +Broadcasting to the Real World! Of course we are a Second Life based club but let's say you want to share your music with your Grandma in Poland. Thanks to the dedicated server we broadcast your music straight to clubflare.co.uk which means when you DJ in world, your also DJing to the website for anyone to access and listen to! So, interested in being a DJ at Club Flare? Click here!

Something for Animators to think about !
Lukeh Ghost replied to Kurt Jiagu's topic in Animation Forum
I have to disagree with this. Making 1 dance animation is difficult. Making 2 which seamlessly work together is a huge challenge. I give mad props to the people who actually make such things and completely understand the not selling of a copy/trans model. If you spent hours and I means HOURS working on a set of dance animations for someone to come along and buy it with the possibility of misusing and handing them out for free? That would be a huge waste of time and slightly abusive to the original creator don't you think? High prices for a copy/transfer objects is a standard it protects the creator and let's them feel reassured their creation isn't just for nothing. If there was an amazing couple dance animations for cheap with copy/tran permissions then in all fairness that would be because the original creator is in sense giving a gift to second life. "And not only only that by releasing such animations for other builders to use its a way of advertising your animations which will probably lead to even more sales" - No absolutly not, because releasing such animations for builders would mean releasing it to the public which would then mean that you would be making more sales from his animations because you stuck it in a disco ball or somthing. In all fairness this idea is in favour of one person. You. Not the original creator. "most people dont care how its made or how long it took" The original creator does I would hate spending hours on something to see someone give it away for half the prices or in some dance animator for half the price. -
Hmm. Sounds cool but I guess the only thing I can imagine would create that effect would be well scripted pushing blocks which will line up infront of the avatar when they step in the mud area and move slowly forward as they push foward. So the avatar will keep walking into the block thus slowing them down but because the block is moving forward they don't just stop still.

Club Flare is a brand spanking new club in Second Life which caters to all avatars regardless of height, age, breed, creature or inanimate object if you so wish to be! At 12pm SLT the 10 hour opening event will kick with music varying from different DJs giving you R&B to Hip Hop.. to House to Dubstep! There is something for everyone at Flare. Contests will be running virtually every hour for a change to win L$1000 each time, the good old money booth throwing out bundles of cash to random visitors, a L$ thrower will be dropping L$1 coins from the air so be sure to pick them up... They can make a mess :) Club Flare is made up of 3 Dance Floors, 1 Bar and 1 Lounge so even if you're pixelated feet are tired you can go for a rest in the lounge or perk up more energy at the bar! Be sure to come down 12PM SLT http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Khisanth/144/97/2502 We are open to all! Friends, Family, Pets, 24 leg Dinette set anyone can come!

When you say other computers in other places are they with the same technical specs as yours? Maybe all the computers you tried are low spec. It might be your avatar has ALOT of scripted items attached. That happens a lot with people when they enter a sim and the region will just come to almost a halt because someone with an avatar that has a bunch of primy objects with resize scripts, or listening scripts for colour change even those bling scripts. just attached to their avatar causes a bad drag on permformance. Change to a default Second Life avatar. Open the Select Avatar tool and then just choose any quickly just for your avatar to remove all items and replace with low level Second Life defaults. - You can also try logging into a new account that has no scripted attachments. Maybe log in to a different region as it's the region which is lagging. So try and log into a different region.

You recieve the L$300 every Tuesday. And the L$1000 is a one off for a 45 day consecutive membership. "* L$300 of virtual currency deposited to your account weekly to shop. ** L$1,000 virtual currency bonus will be deposited directly into your Second Life account if your Premium membership is active for 45 consecutive days after initial sign-up." http://secondlife.com/premium/ "As a premium member, you receive a weekly stipend of $L300, whether you log in or not. Stipends are paid every week by an automated process that runs on Tuesdays (PT). Payments are based on information gathered from the database as of the preceding Monday. For example: If you create a premium account on Monday, April 14, you will receive your first stipend on Tuesday, April 15. If you create a premium account on Tuesday, April 15, you will receive your first stipend on Tuesday, April 22." http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Premium-membership/ta-p/1054477#Section_.3.2

You may have been looking at the "group" search item. Teleport and Map only appears when you've found land. For example say there is a place called "My Place" and the group to that place is called "My Place" also then when you look for it on the search they will both be listed. "My Place" the group will just show More Info" but "My Place" the land will show Teleport and Map. To make a piece of Land show in the search click World > Parcel Details > Options and tick the box "Show in Search" and then choose a catagory of whatever it is your land is for then just click close and give it a while to appear. You can only do this if you own the land or are of a land controlling role in the group which owns the land.
-
Like Innula Zenovka said if you deeded it to the rental group then you need to wear the tag but some times for new rental companies who have still yet to correctly format the roles they forget to allow residents to use the deeded item after it's been deeded to group so may need to contact your land manager.
-
Edit Terrain Question: Can't remember how to select different lengths of land strips together.
Lukeh Ghost replied to ohn's question in Land
You may have been selecting a parcel that had a non-4-sided shape to it. I don't think you can do a manual editing shape like that. If you're dividing parcles you need to do them seperatly then join the parcels by dragging the section tool over both parcels and clicking "Join" -
I think you're talking about the L$1000 4 month gift bonus? If so I didn't think I got mine but that's because I handle like L$1000 of daily getting and recieving so I loose track all the time but after checking my transaction history turns out I did. If you go here: https://secondlife.com/my/account/transactions.php and log in if it asks and double check to make sure you have/haven't got it. I think there is a live support for Premium users but I never know how to get there seeing how I'm no longer Premium.

Firstly, why the capitals? Secondly, everyone here has answered your query. It won't be done. And that's why we offer you alternatives. Second Life is a social platform it isn't created or designed to be used as a money making service. Yes people have done it for Second Life but that is a wonderful perk but it isn't what it's based upon.
-
First of all I think peopel of Madagascar or Venezuela would be very sickened to hear you think the US economy is worse than theres. It takes 2 groups per DJ job.. 12 DJ jobs = 24 Groups. 2 Live Venues you said .. that could bring it upto 30 Groups. Leaving another 12 group slots for your vender selling. Manage your groups better is all it takes. And your real life issues isn't going to make Linden Labs increase the group capacity.
-
The group limit was raised couple years ago from 25 to 42. I can't think of them increasing it again any time soon. People shouldn't join SO many groups. As a DJ you may need to join like 2 groups per club the public one and the staff one. I do that because all the equiptment at my club is all set to allow group only to use and rez etc. Stores should really have 1 group. If you DJ at 5 places that's 10 groups... You join the group of 10 venders thats 20 groups filled you still have half. It's all about group managment and removing those you aren't actively involved in. the only people who have this complaint are those who roleplay like in 50 different communities *over exageration* And those who don't clear out there list of groups they are less active in than others. Personally I think 42 is more than enough. But that's because I manage the groups I'm in and the groups I own well enough.

Free money is awesome! Great way to get traffic. But running a casino is hella risky, I bunch got closed down a couple years ago when Linden Labs stuck this policy down our throats. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Policy_Regarding_Wagering_in_Second_Life I'm not sure if there is a work around reading it but I believe you can't run like poker, blackjack where you pay for a card or an event and depending on the outcome you could risk loosing L$.
-
You can no longer physically extract them model. I brought a SLAV plugin from the marketplace and what that does is allows you to do CTRL+ALT+D and then Menu - Advanced - Enable Develop Menu Menu - Develop - Avatar - Character Test - Apperance to XML And the plugin can rebuild the avatar given the details of the XML bare in mind this only works for shapes made by you
