Id like to add a little known episode in Australian history that happened 1st July 1942

During the war in the Pacific , the Japanese took  Australian troops and civilians prisoner and some were being transported by the ship, the Montevideo Maru when it was torpedoed by an American submarine, the USS Sturgeon off the coast of the Philippines. All 845 POW and 209 civilians who were locked in the hull, died. (the ship was not marked as carring POWs)

It wasnt till after the war that this story came out, when someone investigated the disappearance of the 1054 people.

• 2013 – 2013 Egyptian coup d'état: President of Egypt Mohamed Morsi is overthrown by the military after four days of protests all over the country calling for Morsi's resignation, to which he didn't respond. President of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt Adly Mansour is declared acting president.

• 2013 – A Boeing 777 operating as Asiana Airlines Flight 214 crashes at San Francisco International Airport, killing three and injuring 181 of the 307 people on board.
• 2013 – A 73-car oil train derails in the town of Lac-Mégantic, Quebec and explodes into flames, killing at least 47 people and destroying more than 30 buildings in the town's central area.
