"As I mentioned in my last post, I recently packed up my mainland parcel and relocated to Second Norway.

I had looked at several options. While I continue to root for mainland to thrive, I couldn't afford the parcels that had all the bells and whistles I wanted. I've leased homesteads before, but I didn't like being cut off from the Blake Sea, not having neighbors, etc.

Exploring by horseback, speedboat or auto are how I spend my slack time in SL. After weighing all the options available, I finally found a solution.

Second Norway is the best of all worlds."

"Carl Sandburg wrote those words. Sandburg as a poet wasn’t studied overmuch when I was at uni doing my literature Master’s, but I had read some of his things in an independent study. He was on the short list of poets I wanted to cover in my PhD work, partly because, when I looked in to his life, most American sources really glossed over the secondary work he did as a member of the Social Democratic Party and a frequent contributor to socialist newspapers. I smile when I think about that. Because Sandburg was also celebrated as “the voice of America”. It would be easy to dismiss him, if you only ever saw his most famous poem, which you probably know even if you don’t know it was written by Carl Sandburg." Read more on the blog.

"As I stared down at the bill in front of me, I wrinkled my forehead. My eyes narrowed as I stared at the strange “customer service” charge. I scanned over to see the new $10 charge. I scratched my head and let out a deep breath. After I checked my notes I recalled what the issue had been. So, I called customer service." Read more on the blog.

"Second Life offers that sense of safety and security for anyone to be anonymous and not reveal their true selves. I think the hardest part for me is to see myself as who I am and that triggers insecurities of course. Will they like me, will they judge me are the questions one asks. Of course, it does not matter, but deep down inside it always does matter." Read more on the blog.

"I started last year’s retrospective with “So, 2020. That sort of happened, didn’t it?” So, 2021. That—  Yeah, no. Let’s get off on a better foot than that, and dive right into this post. It’s two days before Christmas as I start writing this, and that’s no time to ‘Bah, humbug’ at the world. Let’s take a look at some of my favourite things from my digital life this year, both inworld and out. And there will be a few more categories this time around, so prepare for a deeper delve than last year." Read more on the blog.

"I found the motherload for the new year right here in Second Life. What is new for 2021? I do hope the new year brings lots of exciting adventures to you. I like to learn a new skill and hopefully this time I will actually complete it. Maybe make some more Second Life Videos or since this was a tip of a "friend" use Second Life as a teaching tool for my classroom. Who knows, it may be fun." Read more on the blog.

"Linden Lab continues rolling out closed Alpha invites of its upcoming iOS/Android app for Second Life to Premium+ subscribers (see "Mobile Update" here). And by the looks of it, continues improving the app itself. Here's a new update and screenies courtesy longtime SLer TavishBrock Resident of the Rosehaven Estates, who gave us an early hands-on preview last month." Read more on the blog.

"Sharing some of my "Heimatland" sights in Second Life is for me a very special occasion. The castle in the background is " Burg Gleiberg" built around the 900th. The ruin is now a popular destination. Since 1879, the ruins have been owned by the Gleiberg Association, which strives to preserve them. The restaurant "Burg Gleiberg" with a beer garden is located in a building in the inner courtyard of the lower castle. As a child, we would visit this often because it was part of the neighborhood."
