"In this episode, we return to a concept that we explored once before, back in 2010 – so fourteen years ago. The concept was called Story Quest, and it was created by Jena Ball, known as Jenaia Morane in Second Life, and it focused on the life and times of a person called Uncle D.... And now, Jenaia Morane has created a new and much expanded version of Story Quest, which is just opening to the Second Life public – and beyond." "This new development from the team behind the very popular Sonance nightclub boasts an excellent design and build by one of the Sonance owners, Katt Harcourt, who has created something resembling a vibrant hippyish beach community with Californian and Mediterranean influences.

Heatwaves offers regular events from club nights to film nights, but one of the highlights is the lively atmosphere on the beach and at the beachside bar during European and North American evenings."

"When I started this website and was conducting research three and a half years ago, I stumbled upon amazing pictures on Flickr of an abandoned hotel nestled in a tropical paradise.

The images were breathtaking, but I was gutted when I found out that the Hotel Del Salto had closed its doors just weeks earlier. Now, creator Jade Koltai has resurrected this gem, and I couldn't resist paying a visit."

"I’m excited to be back exploring Second Life so I am thrilled to share UNISON with you as my first destination to get my plodding feet into since my return. I think you’ll agree that UNISON is particularly appealing for Second Life photographers and grid explorers. With excellent exquisite eye for detail in visual design and an outside layout to explore, UNISON is a destination for everyone." Read more on the blog

"I’ve been looking around for something a bit different in the rental market to share with you – and I found it. HSH is such a cool place to visit and rent a home or stable at. Zan and I both love our horses and mostly have them out at our homes. They can also hoover up prims though ! If you’re looking for a rental home, or perhaps a stable to home them in – this is the place." Read more on the blog

"It has been a couple of years since I had the opportunity to visit and write about an installation by Gem Preiz in Second Life – the last time being in 2022, when I reviewed Exoplanet: One Step Further. So it was with a degree of expectation that I dropped into Selen’s Gallery to visit Gem’s Do You Like Gold?, an exhibition of work that is part museum, part retrospective, part homage to the humble prim and a delight for those who enjoy miniatures and Gem’s work." "For most of the past 17 years I have been in the virtual world of Second Life, I have spent much of my time alone, fiddling and tinkering with the endless options of avatar customization, at which the platform truly excels. Indeed, I gained (and still get) a great deal of personal satisfaction from designing a complete avatar look from head to toe, as cheaply as possible. As this hobby was primarily a solitary enterprise, I did not feel the need to mingle with a lot of other people; in fact, I often wanted to be alone, to work in peace.

But sometimes, and particularly during these past four pandemic years, I am actively looking for a crowd."

Le Monde Perdu, April 2024

"Life has been pretty hectic over the last few months for me in the physical world, with much of it coming to a head over March 2024 (hence the lack of blogging most recently). Fortunately, things are now getting back to normal, so it’s time to resume my SL travels once more – and where better to start than my annual springtime trip to Luane’s World and the always picturesque Le Monde Perdu (The Lost World), the public Full region designed by LuaneMeo and Gorba McMahon."
