Science Circle : A Large Snake

Destinations

Science Circle - 5.jpg

"While I’d rather not meet a nearly 40 foot long snake in real life, it’s a treat to interact with one in Second Life. The Science Circle has set aside an area that has been built to resemble a hot, swampy environment in what is now Colombia, South America. This environment was built by Dr. Linda Kelly (Delia Lake in SL). Living in this environment is a 3D animation of a Titanoboa. This marvelous animated object was created by Dr. Gregory Bollella (GmanB in SL). You can visit this environment and observe the snake capturing a huge crocodile and just generally scooting about in the swamp." Read more on the blog.

"When Hera contacted me to say she had decided to bring these two build back to SL, I confess I moved them to the top of my list of places to visit because, as I recently stated when writing about Shangri-La, the build she opened earlier in August 2021 (see: Losing myself in Hera’s Shangri-La in Second Life), Hera a region creator whose imagination is in many ways unparalleled in Second Life. In fact, I’ll expand on that statement here: Hera is a genuine world builder, conjuring cities, islands, kingdoms and more from the depths of her imagination and casting them into Second Life where they might be discovered and inhabited by those who find them." "I have been toying with the idea of making a fall sim this year and swung back and forth on whether to or not. But I already had the bug…I really wanted to do it. So mid week I found a sim and set about starting to layout my ideas. I’m pushing myself to create a less ‘linear’ region that I would do normally and it all starts in a tiny fishing village called Deer River. This photo is taken on some rocks on the beach. I’ll have more wips to show as the region comes to life and I’m aiming for 1st September to open it." Read more on the blog.

"It is so cool when someone takes a traditional Bellisseria home and turns it into something unique!  Having bumped into Becca Ordinary in my travels, and after seeing the stellar opening of her new cafe last week, it only seemed logical to sojourn over and take a look for myself.  This entry is all about The Riverbridge Cafe in Capitol Springs in Bellisseria." "The Oahu Vacation resort is somewhere I've been wanting to review for a while.  I originally featured it back in November as part of a list of resorts that are a possibility for longer (several weeks as opposed to days) stays. I finally managed to come back for a closer look, and my conclusion now is that the Hawaiian themed sims Oahu forms part of are worth a visit, but not a stay." "Wandering through Second Life I chanced upon the virtual Hotel Chelsea and was immediately impressed with the scale of building, the quality of the build, it’s myriad rooms, and simple but imposing presence. (Since then I have compared some details of the real life Chelsea Hotel in New York City with this replica and find the recreation is staggeringly accurate – even the lift breaks down, just like the real life lift)."
