"As yet another experiment in virtual cinematography (and as a nice way to relax), here is a leisurely, 360-degree panning shot that I did while floating in Second Life's Blake Sea—with my draw distance cranked up to 600 meters. The EEP Sky preset that I used while filming was [TOR] HORROR - Bloody moon. I also tweaked things a bit in my video editor, mainly in order to reduce color banding and to make the sky feel a little more vibrant, and a little less grim, than the name of that aforementioned preset would suggest." "SL artist Kaiden Tray made this faithful recreation of the classic cinema location, complete with four free motel rooms (date night, anyone?), and the Bates mansion on the hill. Impressively, he made it from scratch, mainly using the recent TV show spinoff of Psycho for reference. " Read more on the blog.
"During the past few weeks, I have been filming and sharing short videos of my virtual travels in Second Life on my YouTube channel.
From serene beaches and colourful art installations to enchanting nature parks, there is an endless array of destinations waiting to be explored. Allow me to present three of my recent machinimas featuring regions that are truly worth a visit!" Read more on the blog.
"I decided to pop into London City (website), a region of six sims which offers residential and business rentals, and has been a welcoming region for people new to Second Life for many years now. As you can see by the green dots indicating avatars on this map, it’s busy 24/7/365! People are commiserating with each other via both text and voice chat" Read more on the blog.
"Second Life has hundreds of bars and lounges with a wide variety of styles, designs and entertainment offerings.
Having been to a great many of them, I’ve selected a collection of twelve standout destinations. These venues are not just places but experiences that encapsulate adventure and romance, making them perfect for an enchanting evening out, especially with Valentine's Day just around the corner. They also largely act as a gateway to more attractions in the surrounding area, which I talk about.
However, their appeal isn't confined to special occasions; these spots promise a delightful visit any day of the year. "
"Some pictures from the legendary Demis Roussos on Ice concert, last night in London City." Read more on the blog.
"Lets talk about exploring specifically mainland SL grid. My new idea is to feature a series of really cool spots of mainland that people may not know about. Gems, if you will. I have always had a heart for mainland, and the pod tours really got me excited about it again. I want to see everything!" Read more on the blog.
"Today’s therapy session takes us to Krak Bak Caye at The Sim Quarterly. You haven’t got much time left to emerge yourself in the sights and sounds of this tropical installation by creator Elizabeth Jewell, inspired by the beautiful island of Belize. On July the 25th it will be going *poof*, as that is the nature of all installations at The Sim Quarterly." Read more on the blog.
"Occupying a Homestead region and recently opened, Sunvana is a public setting offering visitors a chance for some “sweet summer escape”. Laid out as a vacation spot, it is the work of Jayce (Jayce Takeda) – with some assistance from Peter (Peterkes Beaton) and Kaelyn Alecto (TheNewKae) – the region is also home to Jayce’s Moment pose brand." "Today we are visiting Alpha Tribe in second life. Its very much a very artistic installation and there are 3 levels to visit. There is a shopping area where you can buy some pretty interesting clothing and if you join the group there lots of looks for free." Click to watch the video on YouTube.
"A January 12th, 2021 Destination Guide blog post by Linden Lab reminded me that it has been seven-and-a-half years since my first – and up until now, only – visit to the remarkable David Rumsey Maps in Second Life (see: If maps are your thing, Rumsey’s the king!). A length of time that marks a return visit as long overdue, so I decided to jump over and renew my own acquaintance with the four-region facility." Read more on the blog.
"If you know me, you know that I love winter with its cold and the fluffy snow that covers everything with a soft and white mantle. But after a while, I also need sun, light, and heat and, after another stay in a ski resort (check Dirk's review on Aurora Ski Retreat here), the idea of spending a weekend at the beach sounded fantastic to me!" "This is a beautiful sim of a real-life place in the United States." Watch the video on YouTube.
"Autumn has finally arrived! Nature is transformed into a magnificent color chart for the wonder of your eyes. This season, Le Monde Perdu offers you varied landscapes: a pretty little Victorian village, a cultivation farm, a splendid abandoned manor on the hill... lakes, plains or dense forests rich in scenery and animals ... Many different places to visit and to relax." More info on Flickr.
"Last week when logging in I got a disturbing notification. My shape could not be located in inventory and I rezzed like a n00b in some default form. Not a pretty sight I can tell you! Not panicked at that moment I cleared cache and logged back in into Second Life in an LL region, Pooley, and waited for my inventory to load." Read more on the blog.
"One of the collective names for butterflies is, a kaleidoscope, and that is the name given to the new region presented by Morph Productions and SPARK Project" Read more on Flickr.
"Kawayan at Tubig is a small Filipino-beach-themed Airbnb created by Flicker Bayan, who invited me to come and look.
Costing 500L per day, it’s a beautifully laid out spot that I recommend for either a couple’s getaway or for a private party involving a group of friends."
