  1. We got our dogs as adults, so there was no way to train them as puppies. Our oldest, a German Shepherd/Lab/???Husky?? mix was 2 when we got her from a rescue. She had quite a bit of anxiety and a tendency to escape. She was quite reactive but has calmed down in her old age (she's now 11 years old) and only barks when she sees someone coming to the door. Our newest furbaby is a 2-year-old Lab/something mix. We got her when her previous owners, who lived on an acreage, were transferred to a city and couldn't take her. After she'd been with us for a couple of days, it was obvious she hadn't been well-socialized at all. She's very, very leash aggressive, and barks at our neighbours' dogs (we don't have a back lane, so the houses are only separated by fences) at the back and to the right. The neighbour at the back has a coonhound and the ones on the right have at least 2 beagles and a couple of little dogs. Our young one used to like to "fence fight" and she has a vertical leap that lets her look over the top of the fence. We have finally been able to somewhat stop her from doing the "fence fight" by shooting a stream of water from the hose. It breaks her attention away from the other dogs, and the last couple of days she's stopped at a word from either of us when she hears them outside. We still have to work on when we're not out with her, and of course, her aggressiveness on the leash. Harness and muzzle are future purchases when finances improve. Other than that, she's an extremely sweet dog and very eager to please.
  2. My current peeve is being unable to find a job. I was let go when the organization did a mass layoff in January and since then...I'm apparently unemployable. I've had interviews, but less than 10, and I'm very frustrated and stressed. I'd go back to school, but the cash isn't there for that, we need every cent for current bills and rent. I don't qualify for any sort of loan as my credit score is so far down in the toilet there isn't even a metaphor for it.
  3. Today has been a crappy day, all due to people and technology. I hate iMacs, with everything I have. iMacs can suck things I can't say here. I have to use one for work and I swear if it hadn't been for the fact it's not technically or legally mine, I'd have got over my fear of heights and tossed it from the highest window in the city, put it all back together and tossed it again. I'm not a huge fan of pc's right now either. And people...don't get me started on them. I am so glad it's Friday. I wish I still didn't have to deal with people, even family. Hopefully a night's sleep will help.
  4. JFC. I have absolutely no interest in your, or anyone else's data. Again, I DO NOT have any affiliation with data collectors of any kind, nor do I want it.
  5. I was being sarcastic, yes. That was the reason for the quotation marks. I do not have, nor do I want, any affiliation to data collectors of any kind.
  6. "We had no idea people would be so concerned about this, and in our defense we thought no one would find out!"
  7. I like the lived-in look, too. I have quite a bit of "clutter" in my Linden House, with a coffee maker, cup tree, cannisters, etc on the kitchen counters, slippers in front of the fireplace, a hall console table with magazine and mail and shoes underneath. In my bathroom there's a full laundry hamper, a sideboard with soaps, oils and bath bombs, and a sink with makeup and towels. My bedroom has a sweater draped over a chair, shoes in the corner, and a jewellery box and perfume bottles on the dresser. I do love how we can have messy, tidy and anything in between.
  8. You've been given excellent reasons why it's not possible, one of which you accept. How many more do you think you need? It's not possible, and it's not going to be made possible. Deal with it.
  9. This, I think, can be filed under Part Peeve, Part WTF is the Matter with My Brain??? The other half called me over to show me a sign he thought I'd find funny. "No Trespassing - We're tired of hiding the bodies" First thing I said? "Why do we have to keep hiding them? Why don't we just keep them hidden?" And now we're both confused. Him because I'm not understanding that "visitors" will not be leaving, and me because I'm wondering why we keep inviting people over if we've got all these bodies just lying around. I swear I can walk and chew gum. I really can dress myself.
  10. I really sympathise here. I had a fantastic gaming laptop that ran SL on Ultra graphics for like 6 years. No troubles, rare lag, it was incredible. Now I have no screen. It boots up, fan runs, keyboard turns on, but the screen remains blank. I have a very old desktop that a former client gave us in lieu of payment (and did he get the better deal!). It gets me on SL, but is very crotchety and freezes at random times. I also have my youngest's old laptop, but it's a refurbished Lenovo and won't run anything without massive complaints. I loved photography as well, but these machines aren't even close to useful.
  11. I was a rare poster. I lurk now because I enjoy reading other people's posts and observing the interactions, both here and inworld. I don't think any of my previous posts really added anything to the forums so I leave the posting to those who are far more knowledgable and enjoyable.
