when I type in chat or in IM, some letters are wrong (q instead of a, and so on), how to solve this?

what is this bug about my keayboard in sl? I have not this problem out of sl as you can see, but in sl, I cannot interact by talking, cause when I talk it's not understandable by the others :-(     can you help me with this bug please?

Hun i think you're just making typos. try to type slower and proofread before you press enter.

Chat typing lag can frustrate even the best typists. I don't know of any key swapping bug in the SL viewer, but I've been tripped up time and again by being able to out-type the viewer in chat. Sometimes I revert to one-finger typing, then eventually log out and and haul my telescope into the back yard.

If you're using Firestorm viewer and have activated this option?:

Use AZERTY keyboard layout: Enable this if you have an AZERTY keyboard; if your keyboard has a QWERTY layout, leave it disabled.

Could be that, and so the viewer use your keyboard as an AZERTY, Q = A, Z = W  etc.

I tried one-finger typing on a telescope once. It didn't like it and told me to go back inside.

My Meade LX-200 has a hand controller that's designed for one finger input. Plplplpl!

 

And don't you love learning something new here? I had no idea there were AZERTY keyboards, nor that Firestorm had a setting for them!

I can get lost on any keyboard. That's what I get for ignoring my father's advice and taking chemistry instead of a typing class.

I wish I had a chronology of my childhood. I'll guess I typed my first text message (to Dad in his shop from me in his office) when I was five or six. I taught myself, to get attention. Some things never change.

 

You made the right choice, there are far fewer explosions in typing class.
