  1. Nope! I still mostly buy full price, sales are just a fun bonus. What does discourage me from buying full price items is, oddly enough, stores that never actually have sales. There's just something off-putting about the whole image of "too good to ever lower prices even to attract new customers". It comes off as snobbish to me.

There are some exceptions of course, like items that I just don't perceive as being worth the asking price. Some bodies, some heads... some clothes, too. Stuff that I could afford but just don't want to pay what they want for. On those, I will only ever buy it if it's on sale though, so without a sale, it just means a purchase will never happen regardless.

I just wish we had a block feature on the MP, so we could remove the ones we don't want on our searches.. It would be so much easier weeding out the clutter..

A block feature would be great, but in the meantime you can make a string like, say, "NOT scandalisation NOT purpleberry NOT whateverbrand" and keep that saved in a text document to paste into every search you make to filter out those vendors.

Not all companies are the same. My ISP gives "free" upgrades every few years - no strings attached. Sometimes it is because the standard speed increased. When it went to 100mb, they upgraded without even telling me, and switched out my modem (the old one stopped working).

Yeah - though that's an edge case where maintaining the old stuff that allowed for the capability would be more expensive than just upgrading you to the slowest "modern" plan. Some kind of situation like "oh, that person still has one of those modems? how do we even service them- oh, just give 'em the new one..."

There are certain words to be avoided at all costs when describing a lady's parts:

    Tunnel

    Cavernous

    Deep

    Valley

    Canyon

    Gorge

Ah good, so my preferred term of "ravenous, yawning chasm" is still fair.

I guess the point here and Ceka will have to correct me if I'm wrong is that if P+ keeps getting new perks added and Premium doesn't then it will feel that Premium is a legacy product that is left behind and no longer cared about by LL.  Until P+ came along, any additional perks were added to Premium which along with price did increase.  Through this lens, assuming that prices will not be frozen for Premium, it's fair to want there to be additional perks for Premium too going forward.

It's how services work in general isn't it? I never get more features in my ISP subscription, but I can upgrade to a plan with more features, usually speed. My home insurance doesn't get extra perks added, but there are more expensive variants available if I want to be insured against stubbing my toes on the sofa. Netflix isn't going to add games or music with their subscription without there being a higher tier for those... and so on.

So that they work with existing adult furniture.

Tails can easily go animesh. Anyone who can't do that is an extremely smaller niche, as there are not as many use cases where you also need another animesh that itself couldn't go bento - but they are making a 'G-rated' version for those people in an update.

The genitals being bento in that spot, is just an already existing standard.

I've never seen genitals rigged to the tail bones before, and believe you me I've been on a LOT of furniture in my days! Maybe it's more of a thing for the men?

  7. After a lot of testing (and rescripting my tail to be animesh instead of bento... :P) I have some final opinions on the Gen X Classic:

    1) The shape is really good. If it had the support older bodies have, or even Legacy levels, I'd probably switch. However...

    2) It's a bit excessive in triangle count. The shape shouldn't take more than maybe half of what it does right now. (almost a full 500k)

    3) There just isn't enough clothing support for it yet even with the event. If you have any kind of personal style you try to maintain it's probably too early. Also, very few of the clothes at the event are moddable which is odd since the body's going to be mod.

    4) The built in adult parts are just perfect, however I really don't see why they had to be bento (and specifically bento rigged to the VERY commonly used tail bone!). The problem with a version that doesn't come with them attached is that I'd have to wait longer for Sensations to provide a "V".

    5) Probably the best use of materials I've seen on a human body, at least from the box.

    6) Too expensive. It offers nothing really significant that Maitreya doesn't, in the end, even if it looks great.

  8. Oh this is one of my favorite topics. While I personally am the same gender, any time someone doesn't mind publicly telling people that they aren't, I ask about portraying that gender. How does one do it convincingly? You get about as many different and contradictory answers as there are people to ask, and I write them down. Some that I remember, presented for amusement and certainly not my personal opinions (my takes are in parenthesis)...

How to present as a man, according to random SLers:
    1) Be interested in technology and sports (and presumably, do so in your mancave)

    2) Curse a lot, use slang (there's some truth to this one, as a linguist, women do tend to speak a lot more formally)

    3) Offer solutions rather than sympathy (here's how to fix the thing you're sad about!)

    4) Constant interest in adult activities even if doing non-adult activities at the moment

    5) Wear the same clothes every day

How to present as a woman, according to random SLers:

    1) Act like you're not as smart as you actually are ("men assume you're a man if you're smart(er than them?)"

    2) Wear colors other than black

    3) Go for either a realistic female shape, or an exaggerated one. (Yep, both get attempted.)

    4) Be difficult to engage in adult activities (god forbid women like those!)

    5) Wear new outfits every day

It's just fascinating to me how we perceive the differences. What's my personal opinion? Well, I don't really think there is anything much solid. The language thing is one, certainly - women hedge their statements more, whereas men present them with more certainty. But I doubt you'd even notice that without a lot of experience in linguistics. Personally I do find that if I just wear a different-gendered avatar and act myself, nobody questions me, so... either I have a really androgynous personality, or the differences aren't actually quite on the Mars vs Venus level.

  9. Most tails are bento for a variety of reasons (the same reasons Belleza went with bento for the ladybits rather than animesh, among them that it's cheaper for the viewer to render). With some know-how you can convert them to animesh as desired... but it'd be much more reasonable for Belleza to rig said bits to hind legs, which nobody who uses the body would be using at the same time. :P

  10. Well, I got the demo. They rigged the ***** to the tail bones. It's unusable for furries (or humans/variants) with bento tails, so way to go immediately eliminating the part of SL that really loves moddable bodies.

God, just the notion of using such a commonly used bone rather than the hind legs...

edit: It's also 500k triangles, which one might have some strong opinions about, even if it's not up to Legacy numbers.

I think Freya (and all the other old Belleza bodies) will be dropped in favour of the Gen-X. Maybe Maitreya will be dropped in favour of Gen X and Legacy, unless they bring out a really good quality update.  Kupra will be dropped in favour of Reborn.  Prima will suffer the same fate as Erika, Signature Alice and Rebirth.

The only way Maitreya will ever decline in popularity is if someone makes an "average woman" body but better. Legacy, for example, is much more towards the curvy/hyper-feminine side of things. Maybe you're expecting X Belleza to be that?

Whereas it'd help with determining whats what, i'm glad they don't do this because i'd probably never buy anything again.

On second thought. Do it. Definitely do it. Save me lots of money.

(But in all honesty, i'd rather not buy an item twice at full price just to wear it on 2 bodies).

Presumably for any sane creator the individual packs would be cheaper than "all rigs at once." :P

  13. It's a little weird to see why creators don't sell each rigged set separately, that'd give them some proper numbers on which ones are worth continuing.

I do expect Belleza to be successful due to brand recognition, plus the moddability will ensure they have at least a niche market. Prima... I doubt it. As for if any bodies all out of style? Well, Legacy is the second most popular, but it hasn't been updated in over a year now, and at one point Freya used to be the second most popular. Kupra I've not seen much but I do believe that look is too popular right now for that body to be the one that gets sidelined. Reborn... that'd be my guess, if any at all.

  14. I would just like to further emphasize (for future occurrences, and having a critical eye for these things) that indeed the one false positive comes from "Jiangmin", which isn't exactly a reputable piece of software. While any of them can produce false positives, it's barely even worth considering if it's only one obscure antivirus that isn't even tested by any professional sites (and indeed, you can Google "jiangmin antivirus" to find an absolute mountain of it detecting false positives in every kind of harmless file!)

  15. I for one am super looking forward to this, it's going to make our avatars so much more lively.

I was excited enough that I tried to make the project viewer work with it, though, and that was a one way trip into dependency hell the likes of which I don't even see in my day job. And I work with Javascript!

Maybe I'll manage to temper my excitement until they actually integrate it into the client.

Amen, comrade. I also do not approve of our current paradigm of unfettered capitalism.

  17. I usually clear mine out now and. The only two permanent residents are two in world shops infamous for spamming everyone who has ever visited their sim (which I've reported countless times and nothing has happened, so... permanent block it is :P). Right now it's about 8 total, though.

This whole discussion through the years has only ever been because a tiny number of people prefer SL to match RL sizes. One of those who have argued for RL sizes through the years is in this thread. At least she has an actual reason for the preference which, if it worked, would be excellent. I can't criticise the reason, which is to get more usage out of a parcel of land. What I can say about it is that it doesn't need things to be RL-sized to do it. It only needs things to be smaller. RL sizes are irrelevant for that particular reason.

I generally find that this discussion more often returns because some people start thinking a five foot tall avatar is "child sized" when by any metric they're still actual giants.

Let's consider it. We can scale things by numbers - which are observable facts - or we can scale them based on an arbitrary feeling of "this seems about the right size". If we are going to have any kind of consistency, we'll have to go with the former, and those numbers are the same as their RL counterparts. :P
