I get that but its school lol I mean the Habbo Hotel and other games used to work and suddenly they started stop loading the client basically it never opens nowadays same as SL. As far as gaming other games works fine but none applications ones which you need to download which require a .exe extension.  And I understand what your saying but I thought once I am out like any place public with my PC i could play it any where it is a Virtual world after all.

You're not supposed to be playing games in school or at work. You're supposed to be working/doing school work. Employers don't pay you to play and parents don't pay out the nose for education for you to goof off.

    Close but not quite.

I was 6 and I went looking for my brothers at the Shriner's Circus. It was a circus and I wanted to go. I thought my parents had let my brothers go but I wasn't allowed. I found out later they were supposed to have gone to a baseball game . The ball fields were all right there in the park and the circus was in the biggest one. That was one loooooong walk for a 6 year old. I wasn't scared I would get I trouble. I was scared I couldn't walk a half mile back home and be home in time for dinner. Luckily my Uncle Soda Pop (yes Soda Pop) was a Shriner. He saw me and took me home. Never did get that spanking I just knew I was in for. xD

As for my brothers, my oldest brother (9) abandoned my other brother (8) at the ball field so neither one of them was where they were supposed to be.

And why in the world did it quote my post when I clicked edit? :S

I'm getting a new mesh body this week. Does that mean I'll be a virgin again? Or does that only happen if I buy new naughty bits?

Or is this one of those situations like my grandfather's axe: "This is my grandfather's axe. It's had the head replaced twice and handle replaced three times, but it's the same axe he carried."

O.o How would I know? I don't do pixel sex. Not my cup of tea. Never owned any "bits" either.

Anecdotal. In my personal experience people tend to shop more at events and on marketplace. If theres evidence to the contrary I have not seen it.

Allow me to present the first evidence for you.

    Meet.... me.

I use the MP as a catalog and do the vast majority of my purchases inworld as does my RL other half.

Now you have two pieces of evidence. ^_^

Hey, it's ok to be an SL virgin. I've been one for 14 years, almost 15. I'm rather proud of that fact. ^_^

Funny thing, today I dreamed about a virtual world that was a mix of the sims and second life. You had the building mechanics of the sims, but you could customize textures and even upload new meshes like SL, you purchased your land and you could build on it, no prim limitation and the tools were easy and intuitive to use. You could even have a "town view" with a free camera if you were the owner and didn't want to use an avatar to walk around the place.

I woke up sad it wasn't a real game.

Throw in some Empyrion: Galactic Survival with the Sims and SL and you have my dream virtual universe. No, not world, universe. Complete with solar systems to explore and inhabit. :D

Ohh sorry, I didn't understand then... thanks for explaining! I thought everyone had that ?

I have seen few merchants who simply prefer to sell directly from boxes with no scripts and they have every right to do so. This should be something we enjoy doing, not something that is imposed so if there are people who enjoy selling without vendors and scripts, and its legal, why not let them? I like the fact that anyone can become merchant, see how it works for them and later, if they decide to do it in more serious way, they can get a vendor system with redelivery.

I agree with new merchants not necessarily needing a re-delivery system to start out with. On the other hand, when they don't have one, even for a brand new business, it can be a deterrent for (prospective) customers. Many people won't buy from a merchant that doesn't use a re-delivery system because it can be an unpleasant experience trying to contact a merchant, depending on their preferred method of contact. It's much easier on the merchant and the customer for the customer to be able to hit the re-delivery terminal.

I seem to recall that some of the vendor creators included re-delivery terminals with the vendor package or at least, offered it as a separate package that works with the vendor system. The ones I used to use had a re-delivery system but I'm not certain if it was a separate package or included with the vendors. I think it was included.

And yes, (before you ask lol) I am one of those who more than likely won't buy from a merchant that doesn't have a re-delivery system. It would depend on how badly I needed (or wanted) the item and whether or not I could purchase a comparable item from a merchant that does have re-delivery.

I'm curious. Those who said that accidentally deleting something is one of the main reason for redeliveries - where are things accidentally deleted from?

It can't be from the inventory because it would go into Trash and would be recoverable from there. We don't accidentally delete something (put it into trash) and then immediately empty the trash. It can't be from where it is rezzed because it's only a few weeks ago that everyone was saying that they don't buy anything unless it's copyable, so accidentally deleting something that's rezzed isn't a problem. So I'm curious as to where stuff can be deleted from to make the need of redeliveries useful. I'm just curious.

Sometimes I regret emptying Trash. No, it wasn't an accident. It's rare but there have been times when I deleted something and emptied my Trash only to realize later on there was something I needed or changed my mind about in there. Unlike RL, we don't have to buy the item twice in SL from those merchants who use a re-delivery system. I see no reason why re-delivery can't be uniform grid wide and on the MP other than the time and effort it would take for LL to do the coding and using residents as guinea pigs testing. The only obstacle would be the expense. The expense didn't stop Bento, Experiences and a few other things residents were very vocal about.

This is nothing for those who have lived a little bit longer than that. Any of you rememebr the Roman empire? They killed people just for fun. And it's not as if the other nations were any better back then.

And the middle ages with the inquisition and all of that ... let's be thankful that is over now.

It isn't over for North Koreans. And there are those who are working diligently to revert back to how things were 50-100 year ago in the US and more recently Canada. It really isn't over with yet.

In the Maitreya HUD you can fine tune the skin colour to get a pretty much perfect match to your current skin, I managed that with my then Skinthesis skin using the Arctic tone as the closest match when i first demoed body before eventually buying a Glam Affair skin in Arctic when they still sold system skins

Yesterday I was all wrapped up in matching some group gift shoes/feet up with my current skin using RGB, since I knew it would be a while before I would have a mesh body. Then  someone anonymously buying the Lara body for me shocked me so much that it didn't hit me until I read your post that I could likely do the same with the body. Thank you. ?

I popped over to A&E. They do have body appliers specific to Maitreya that come in tones EA, EB, EC, and ED -- right side after you pass through the entry area.  They also have body appliers for Maitreya in tones T0, TA, TB, TC, TD, TE - left side after you pass through the entry area.

If your classic skin is one of those tones, then you'll have a matching applier.  If not, then you have two choices:  Find a new classic skin w/ associated applier or pick the A&E tone that is closest to what you have and always wear a choker (not a great option).

How would I be able to tell what tone my skin is? About all I do know is that the "India" applier on the Maitreya HUD is the one that almost perfectly matches my A&E Sharisa Mocha skin.

I'm at A&E right now looking at the ones on the left side of the entrance and I see now the Maitreya demo. It's starting to come together for me a bit but when I mouse over it says "Women's body appliers for Maitreya DEMO" and the next line says "For Maitreya Bento and non Bento heads". I'm not sure what that means. Is it for the body or the head? Or does it mean that it will work for the heads as well as the body? This is what confuses me. I know Sachi is trying to make it clear. It's not her fault it doesn't translate well for me.

I'm just going to take the plunge and grab the demo, take it home and see what is what. If I need a new skin, it will have to wait until after I get a couple of paychecks. Or longer. In the meantime I have found some mesh group gift outfits that will get me through until then.

Thank you so much for your help! You have no idea what it means to me. Between what you have told me and the gift of the Lara body I am close to tears. :x

Basically, the appliers work one of two ways.
     1) They either say that they are Maitreya appliers and then they will apply directly to Lara with nothing extra.
     2) Or they are Omega and in that case you have to go to the Omega store and buy the Omega relay -- something like L$50 if you join their group or double that if you don't.  Some Omega relays only have to be worn and activated once, but the Maitreya Lara one has to actually be attached every time you use it.  That same Omega applier will work with any other type of Omega body appliers - like for tattoos or special skin effects.

You buy an applier for the body in the same 'tone' as the classic skin that will show on your head.

The skin I'm using isn't even the A & E store anymore. I bought it 5 or 6 years ago.

And holy cow! I don't know what is going on. I have the Lara demo and all of a sudden this happened:

    Quote

[17:11] Second Life: Maitreya Footwear & Accessory Server owned by Onyx LeShelle gave you 'Maitreya Mesh Body - Lara'  ( Maitreya Isle (150,139,3050) ).

It wasn't my other half. He had just logged in 3 minutes before that.

Whoever did it... thank you so very much! You are a very kind and generous person whoever you are! I will reciprocate in kind for someone else in the future!

ANd now I have to go before my dinner burns!

7 Deadly s{K}ins still has their classic skins upstairs and they blend well with the Lara body applier under most lighting - assuming you can find a shade that you like.  You can get a demo of all the applier shades and see if you like any.  That is what I'm currently using.  I sometimes wear chokers though because under some lighting, the seam is visible.

Other places that I've gotten classic skins from, but am not currently using (some blend better than others and it also depends on your shade preference):  LAQ, Modish, Stix, Dulce Secrets, WoW, Genesis Lab.

I feel your pain.  I haven't gone to a mesh head yet - just not ready - and I hate skin shopping.

    Thanks.

The skin I use came from Adam & Eve (Sharise Mocha). I've been there and LAQ as well as Glam Affair. A&E seem to have their own body now but I kind of have my heart set on the Lara since I have been familiar with and bought from Maitreya for years.

I don't know. I may go back and get the A&E demo.

Everything seems to be called an applier and I'm just so confused by what I have seen. O.o

I do get that they are called appliers because they "apply" the textures but nothing really tells me that this skin/applier for the "classic" will work with the Lara. If that makes sense. :S

As I said, I'm confused. Hopefully I'll get it sorted out before I get completely discouraged and give up.

  15. Apparently, I will be spending the rest of the day trying to figure out where I can buy a "classic avatar" skin that will blend in the neck area a little better with the mesh body (Lara) I plan to get at some point in the future and being frustrated to the point of almost being in tears. It's frustrating because I know many people don't use mesh heads and yet from what I have seen their "classic" skins blend perfectly with their mesh bodies.

  17. Them: hi how r u?

Me: Oh today has been a really bad day. First I had to take a shower and wash my hair with this really horrible shampoo, then I had to do my nails but I couldn't decide if I should do them in this gorgeous shade of burnt sienna or the vivid red so I chose the burnt sienna but it really clashed with my dress so I had to redo my nails all over again and then I changed my mind about the red dress I was going to wear and picked the black one instead which meant I had to change my shoes and then I was late for work and the boss chewed me out and my car had a flat tire on the way home from work and I burned dinner because I was so upset my boss chewed me out so I had to order out and now I'm just exhausted.

    How r u?

    *crickets*

All I can say is "that depends".

I don't go into the local hardware shop to buy stuff because it's pretty.

I don't go to hardware stores to buy groceries or clothes.

Even so, if the store doesn't have at least some visual appeal, regardless of what I am shopping for, I won't go in. Although, one would expect a hardware store to look a little bit "run down" if they've been in business for very long. But it better be clean and tidy or no sale.

At least you got trick or treaters. We haven't had any in almost 20 years. But since we moved this last time, I'm hoping that will change.
