  1. OK, I'll test copy of own creation and see where it ends. Actually I don't mind everything ending up in the received folder for instance when doing uploads. I usually have to hunt all over the place (with the recents tab) to place things in folders that keeps all items associated with the creation of a product together and not lump them all into the textures folder for instance. I suppose it falls down to working style and what you prefer.
  2. All items purchased ended up in folders in the receive Items folder as it normally does (when delivered from an object set for sale containing multiple objects.) So I did not observe the issues you describe.
  3. I tested with the latest beta viewer, and it did not have to be refiled when taken back into inventory. Hence my comment "all good."
  4. If this will work as set up on the GC 9 test area, it will be all good. Taken items are returned to the folder they originally was rezzed from – which was my main concern reading previous comments.
  5. There is a SecondLife folder inside Library/Appliation Support There is also a SecondLife folder inside Library/Caches I would start by deleting the Caches folder first and see if you can log in after. If not, but you still can log in your alt, I would delete the folder inside Library/Application Support/SecondLife that has the name of your avatar. This should recreate the folder as soon as you log on with your avatar. The pain is that you will have to do all your settings over again.
  6. While developing two developer resources for low shoes, I did a lot of testing weighing rigged meshes and mesh that behaving more like traditional prims up against each other, and found that for this type of shoes, the non-rigged version provides better overall fit and flexibility for the final product. The latest of these resources have 7 dfferent meshes that can be handled as individual prims, in addition to 6 different material zones. Combined with a fully uv-mapped mesh, this gives a very high degree of flexibility to texture, color, size, and add other elements to the shoes (you could even remove parts of the mesh.) For boots, however, a rigged mesh will in normal situations look better, but then you are much more constrained to the sizes you can provide. Ideally we should have something like the DAZ Studio Genesis figure for easier creation of rigged mesh shoes and clothes.
  7. I did a test again with the 4.0.3.47 PRO edition of DAZ Studio, and even creating a simple cube primitive with export as collada for SecondLife generates an error message in import to SL. 2012-02-07T12:47:41Z INFO: doLoadModel: Error with dae - traditionally indicates a corrupt file.
  8. My experience is that only a fraction of what is exported as collada from DAZ Studio 4 (DS4) actually imports into SecondLife. I simply gave up this route as being unreliable. As for exporting from Hexagon to DS4, the Hexagon bridge will send a model directly into DS4 and vise versa, so you don't need to do the export for this to work. Also the DS4P has an FBX export module, and it might be more reliable to use the Hexagon bridge to send a model to DS4P, then exports as FBX and run through the Autodesk FBX to collada converter, but also here your milage may vary. I found it works at times, other times not. I have not tested this after the DS4P 4.0.3.47 upgrade (last week) and with the 2012 version of the Autodesk converter. I currently export all my Collada from Cheetah3D (Mac app) which is very good for non-rigged items, and works great with rigged too if you run the .dae file through a filter to make it fully compatible for SL upload.
  9. Technically you don't sell to an avatar, but to an account. Currently there is a one-to-one relationship between an account and an avatar. However, redefining an account to have multiple avatars would keep everyone in the clear from a legal standpoint with minimal to no changes to the TOS.
  10. It would be exactly as now. Now every account (main or alt) is registered to an arbitrary email address that may be real or fake. So you don't have a clue in reality who's behind an identity. In my proposal, every main would be registred to an arbitrary email address (same as above), and all alts would be registered to the main. So also here the identity is known in the same manner as before. There is just fewer email addresses involved.
  11. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: An email address can be shared by multiple people so is not sufficient proof of one user owning several avatars. True, but that is how it is currently done, so there would be no change here.
  12. Amethyst Jetaime wrote: ...it would require people to disclose RL identity, which judging from the posts on this forum on the subject a large number of if not most people are opposed to. Everyone register with an email address, right? So the main would have to be registered to an email (real or fake), the alts would be registred to the main as identities of the main.
  13. Any IP rights that would be applicapble is between RL persons and not between avatar personas that RL person might hold. So there is no IP rights issues that must be changed. Some wording in the TOS might have to change, but nothing earth shattering. It is also not super complicated to make such a change technically as they only need to implement an owner hierarchy where an alt UUID is owned by a master UUID, which is connected to the RL identity.
  14. I see the same issue when I connect to SecondLife via a 3G router. So the question is does the router or the ISP filter any ports / protocols that this request depends on. Does anyone happen to know what exactly goes on in this request to the server? Since the region requests fail, it is not possible to upload mesh.
  15. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: if camping didnt kill SL why would freebies? This discussion is not about freebies in-world where they might be beneficial simply because they cause presence in the sims, just like the old camping did. The discussion is about the large number of free and very cheap items choking the marketplace and searches there.
  16. I don't get it – the silence in the blog is stunning. Not to belittle sluniverse, but I feel that both Rodvik and other Lindens are more active over there than in their own forums. The daily Flickr posting to the blog, while nice, is starting become pathetic. So you are absolutely right. I too caught the twitter message and the sharing on his profile; but that was pure chance.
  17. Not sure if this is true, but I have heard the beta grid only refresh the inventory there with a copy from main when you change your password. You should be able to find a premium sandbox where to test.
  18. Nobody is camping at the marketplace. They don't even have to log on to do their things there. Camping provided for presence in-world. Which is good. So the logic is sound and intact. ;-)

This can lead to people THINKING they are talking to their old friends but not. Old users with brands can be missrepresented as CURRENT purveyors. and it's completely unneccesary with the last name paradime,. The previous implementation required the "first last" name combination to be unique, which quickly leads to exhaustion of name space for popular (and common) name combinations. So unless there is a solution to this, freeing old name space may be an option. Ideally, there should be a unique, but never displayed login ID that was the owner of all your identities (main and alts), and you deciced which identit(ies) to invoke on logon. Meaning you could actually log on multiple identities at the same time (your main, your business, your cheating lover....) or at any time you were logged in on demand. It could also mean that the inventory was shared between identities, owned by the common ID. ... I suppose that would mean major code changes. :-O
  20. My take on this: Bring back Last Names Give people the ability to change names (for a fee) If you need to recycle names, purge the user DB of anyone who has not been logged in say for more than 3 years No Titles – reeks of games, segregation and stereotyping
  21. In this case the tests were controlled, but I have seen builds more or less completely destroyed by randomly returned prims from a parcel that runs full. Patching it together after can be very painful (many build without linking and having copies.) So please test this in a sandbox, or on a parcel where you can't / don't mind if you damage your other builds.
  22. I tested setting some building's Physics type to Convex Hull and the results were mixed. Some of the buildings halved their land impact, some had a reduction of only a few, but the most interesting ones inflated their impact 10 fold or more so the parcel ran full and they got returned to Lost and Found. ... which was not so good really. One of the buldings that got returned interestingly had it's impact halved on re-rezz, whereas the other one was destroyed and a good copy had to be rezzed from inventory. Lessons learned: Take a copy of the buildings / items you try this on before proceeding.
  23. Yep, that's what I did not do! Talk about PEBCAK! /me blushes Thanks, ;-)
  24. Could anyone have a look at the attached collada file and see if they can spot why it only attach as a non-rigged mesh to the default position when worn, please? On upload it shows the skin weights properly in preview as does the joint positions. It also uploads all right. Any hint or solution would be apprechiated. ... oh, by the way, the rigging uploaded perfectly fine about a month ago, so something must have changed SL side. EDIT: File reference deleted as the file was perfectly fine, so really not interesting any more.
  25. Oh that! You know bots are ideal campers. They don't keep crossing sim borders and crash, shop at other locations, use whatever they got to grief others, make new stuff that fills the asset servers, or bother anyone by saying hi. They just do what they do; camp. – Ideal campers!
