    Confusing.

By TOS, moderate public land can't have sex stuff out. So yes, if you had a moderate place you MUST only have safe furniture out or risk an AR.

Out in public? Yeah, not exactly a good idea. Inside your home? That's not against the ToS or the CS.

You also cannot run/advertise an Adult club on Moderate land.

    Not so confusing.

The part that some seem to find confusing? What is/is not classified as "public" land.

  2. Oh for ... This absolute crapfest again?

Hey, how about instead of simply locking the thread, the users who decided to bring Real Life politics in and just couldn't resist trying to pull the thread into a needless "discussion" of said politics ... actually see some kind of action taken to clue them in to not pull that crap?

Do note the description of this section: "Second Life discussions welcome here! Please follow the community guidelines."

Want a discussion of actual real world politics? Take. It. To. Another. Forum.

LL are actually ditching web profiles soon & moving back to legacy profiles in their viewer.
I'm not sure when this will happen but the LL legacy profile viewer is already in QA & I believe it should be a project or an RC viewer soon.

Firestorm actually contributed their legacy profile code to Linden Lab so for anyone used to the Firestorm legacy profiles, the LL viewer profiles will be almost identical.

About time they ditched that travesty...

The land CAN be 'set to group'.

    The covenant is as follows:

    [Welcome, blah-blah]
    == Linden Home Restrictions ==

Linden Home has unique restrictions in addition to those outlined in the Linden Home Terms and Conditions. By accepting a Linden Home, you agree to additional restrictions as follows:

    - Land cannot be terraformed, sold, deeded to group, joined, or divided. Land can only be set to group.

    [more blah-blah]

    == Linden Home Benefits==
    - Use your Premium account's 1024m2 included land tier allocation towards your Linden Home.
    - Ready-to-move-in themed home on a 512m2 or 1024m2 parcel.
    - Select your own Linden Home theme.
    - Decorate your home with furnishings.
    - Invite your friends to your home.
    - Meet your neighbors and make friends.
    - 1024m2 parcel Linden Homes are allocated 351 Land Impact.
    - Set Home to here at your Linden Home location. (World menu > Set Home to Here.)
    - Set land to group.

    [more blah-blah]

As said, a version posted earlier in the thread had language that prohibited setting.

It seems to have been corrected since then.

Seeing as LL can set the value of the $L at will, you know darn well it isnt a money sink.

What Linden Lab is capable of doing is rather irrelevant and furthermore does not negate inactive accounts acting as sinks, much as you'd like to believe otherwise.

You don't like that users are buying what they wish to buy? Tough. Get over it.

That's not how I read the question.

The question is asking about the difficulty of stating reasons for making a product no mod. Information that could be included in a notecard or on the ad that is usually the texture used on a box of any nature, including 1 prim vendors. I don't see where it is asking for creators to post their reasons why in the thread.

A lovely case/example of something I harp on often enough here: Users placing their own, internal meaning onto the text they've read.

Taken at face value, Blush is quite correct in her interpretation. To arrive anywhere else requires a different phrasing or a statement of clarification from the user she was responding to.

I am not sure this would be good - say your group consist of 2 premium accounts, how many homes can this group then have? Or do you mean setting access to group only, yes this should be possible or they would not get very successful

In order to set a parcel to group access only, one must be able to set a group to the parcel.

Your example given (highlighted above) requires deeding to a group - not setting. Sometimes this is termed Group Owned.

If you'd like a clearer example, poke me in world and I'll send a TP to my existing, group set Linden Home (currently public access - Group Only is used for when I have certain guests over).

  8. Honestly? Spending time with a (now gone from SL) very close friend of mine (dated for a while) - the same one that got me into SL in the first place - as well as poking around The Lost Furest (back before they had their won sim even), poking around Fur Nation, visiting and exploring Numbakulla/The Pot Healer's Adventure (that needs to come back) .... Gads, even my short time as a Mentor ...

Yeah, been here a long while.

All I saw was that you can't deed to a group, same as with the 512's.

I'm not sure where the problem is there? There is no need to deed to a group for entry control. Just set the land to the group like we always have.

Further back in the thread, someone quoted the Covenant for the new areas.

It included setting to group as prohibited.

It seems that has since been changed - good.

It seems like, from the comments here that The Lab should consider DOWNSIZING the 512 home areas for those that wish to stay there and not remove them altogether.  No matter how much prettier the new homes are (agreed not everyone is as excited as Blush :D) it is clear that the old homes will work better for those with older and less powerful computers.

And for those of us with no desire to have to plug avatar/account names into an on-site security system instead of using a bloody group, set to the parcel, as our method of security/gatekeeping.

    Set, not deeded.

Sorry, not allowing a parcel to be set to a group is ridiculous.

Can anyone advice me please--I've been told that if you upgrade membership and for some reason wish to go back to a guest account, that your avatar is blocked from SL for a period of time. is that true? I'd like to upgrade but no one knows what tomorrow brings and would like the flexibility to go back to being a guest if need be, without losing my ability to log in

You mean going back to a "Free" account - there are no "Guest" accounts.

And no, you wouldn't be blocked if you decided to drop the Premium, just be sure that if you nabbed any Mainland to release it before downgrading. Same with a Linden Home.

Just checked to be sure .. yeah 6.39 feet in my heels .. so would be shorter if I didn't have heels on. But yeah, I'm rather mid height for women in SL these days. I see lots and lots that make me look short but I also see many that I tower over. Scale is difficult at best in SL.

Very, it would seem. When not in an Anthropomorphic form, I tend to be around that height range in Second Life, sometimes actually a tiny bit shorter!

Most of my Anthro types are in the upper six foot to seven foot range, species depending. I think the only exceptions are my femmy felines!

    1. They already had their crackdown on Gambling.
    2. Ah yes, the newer laws that are nothing more than knee-jerk reactions to a "problem" that could have been handled quite differently ....
    3. Linden Lab has their own lawyers - they'll consult them before listening to a general user.

The update is putting it where it is supposed to go. Whenever the place is that you are trying to update to may not be the right place (maybe an old place).

    Guaranteed fix:

Uninstall the viewer completely, including and especially any and all shortcuts/aliases.

Download a fresh copy from SL Downloads page.

    Install a new.

Everything should work just fine, including updates, after that.

If you insist on keeping your viewer installation where it lives now then you must suffer any consequence of that stubbornness. :)

And people wonder why I so dislike automated update systems ... Sorry, badly coded automated update systems.
