that is probably the worst advice i have ever seen.. Do not add adjectives to your keywords. they have nothing to do with your item.

Seriously? The internet is awash with bad advice, if that is the worst you have ever seen then you have lived a very sheltered life.

Try googleing something random like "how do I remove a hamster from my arse". It will open up a whole new world of bad advice for you to immerse yourself in and it will make you realise that although Spica's advise is odd, it is not bad, just another perspective on describing things.

  2. When I started here I had zero design skills, so am completely self taught. Back then I relied heavily on texture stores like TRU and nearly all my textures were pre bought. Jesus, you got a fortune out of me!

I remember in 2005/2006 you spotted a copy of one of my prefabs somewhere and IM'ed me ask me where I had purchased the window textures. I had made them, they were some of my first and you then complemented me on how good they were, and I was like, all overcome with pride and wot not as I had big respect for your work and overall skills. Fanboy :matte-motes-big-grin:

I don't remember ever talking to you inworld again after that. I have spoken to you a few times on the forums over the years and I remember leaving a comment on your blog a few years ago as I could see you were going to through a creative lull and was being sucked into EVE Online. I warned you of the addictive perils of EVE and how it sucks up your creative time. Hopefully you dodged that bullet.

Considering we are too of the oldest users left in SL im surprised our paths have not crossed more often!

As for my name, I have no regrets. I built a reputation off of it back in the boom years and there are still a few people left around here who know who I am and what I have achieved here.

I love your name. I always assumed you started here as a pole dancer or something and then ended up with the most successful texture brand in SL using a porn type name. That always amused me. :matte-motes-big-grin:

dont know where to post this but Linden Lab has stolen $ 5.00  for tier when I forgot to  change the donated land tier to a group after I abandoned land and got another land.

I did not remember to change the donate to land part.   I am learning and this is complicated a nice way to get Linden Lab tier ... sweet  NOT !  I am sooo upset with Linden Lab Landlord abuse..

god these people Linden Lab need govt oversight we need to sue them

I don't understand how Linden Lab has "stolen" $5.00 from you? You deeded the land to a group then forgot to un-deed the land, You are the only one at fault here as it was your mistake. Accusing Linden Lab of stealing the money is ridiculous. You chose your tier plan, Linden Lab billed you based on your choice. End of story

  4. I think you can research this subject outside of SL and get a better quality of information. SEO is big business and there is a wealth of information out there on search trends, understanding your customer base, understanding general keyword use etc.

Alternatively, if you don't want to get that involved in researching then maybe use something like Google Adwords which is free. I've not used it myself but someone was talking about in merchant chat the other night and it sounded like a very useful tool for generating related keywords.

I am not missing anything. Have you owned land? Did your land have parcels? Did you think that myabe there was an error for something to be unchecked in the parcel menu?

My comment does not take into account user incompetence. I'm sure some people leave builds rights open to everyone by accident, but that is no reason to discourage people from making use of the many hundreds of plots out there that have been openly made available for everyone to build on. There are inworld groups devoted to coordinating networks of these "free to build" plots and both land owners and squatters alike share the same philosophy of freedom.

Would you deny land owners and non land owners the freedom to participate in such a group, simply to protect the small minority of land owners who fail to set the correct build rights? Seems like a pedantic point of view in my opinion.

Is it possible that the landowner kept it open for friends or something thinking no one would just come along and do as they please?

That is what the "group" access option is for under land settings. There is not a "friends" option I am afraid. There is an "everyone" option and a "group" option. It's not complicated.

I realize you feel you have ESP or fair use if someone uses a trust method. I did write that quote and somehow it didn't apply to the post of yours I responded to, you know the admission of knowing you WEREN'T supposed to be there.

I had already responded to your earlier post about this, but presumably the mods deleted it.

There is a thrill about being caught when you don't have the owners permission and the build rights are set to "everyone". This is due to the small amount of incompetent land owners who have set the incorrect rights on their land. It''s not always obvious if the land owner truly want you there. So it is not a case of "I was not supposed to be there" because the build rights invite me to build there. The buzz comes from encountering an incompetent land owner that has made a mistake with their land rights. This can result in conflict. No big deal, mistakes happen.

Funny how your last post disappeared with your small insults, so since you can't back up a post you make without deleting it, I have nothing further to say to you.

I am not in the habit of deleting posts so it was obviously removed. As for my small insults I believe I accussed you of being a drama queen and your subsequent postings throughout the day have only reinforced that opinion.

I think Residents that choose to share their land, let others rez is great, truly, but they have made that decision to do so.

Despite the fact you have written it, this quote is the key point you seem to be continually missing. Under land options a land owner has the choice to allow "everyone" to rez prims on their land. If they enable this option then they are choosing to share their land with others. It is only when a land owner chooses to enable this option that squatting becomes feasible. So no one is stealing anything.

How can it be theft when a land owner specifies within their land options that everyone can build on their land? It is not theft. It's an open invitation, an invitation that they are free to rescind at any time.

Become a squatter. There is loads of really nice land out there that is owned but has rez rights enabled and the owners rarely show up. All of my plots are stores and building sites so I have no nice place to take pictures of buildings when complete. For many years now I have been using other peoples land to do this, without asking their permission. It can take weeks or months of searching to find just the right spot. I rez the build, rez the landscaping take my pictures then tidy everything up and leave.

It is quite exciting too, the buzz of being caught at any moment. I have been caught twice doing this over the years. The first time the woman was very annoyed and returned all my objects immediately and banned me, I assume she AR'ed me too but nothing ever came of it. The second time the owner found it hilarious and really liked the build I was photographing, so I let them have a copy for free and it was all groovy.

  8. The most urguent improvement that SL requires is a complete overhaul of the new user experience. Without the ability to retain an ongoing volume of new users in their first few days of playing, then all other improvements are irrelevant. New user are vital if SL is to remain sustainable.

  9. L$2000 is about 8 to 9 USD. Camping won't earn you that much by tomorrow. I think within SL your best bet would be to try and prostitute yourself or offer some sort of niche entertainment for the evening. Maybe visit some xxx clubs in Zindra and try and pimp yourself out.

The easiest way to get L$2000 by tomorrow would be to get the money in RL and to then buy the L$. Go to a busy place in your local area with begging bowl and start singing and dancing, even if you suck you will probably earn ten dollars. Do the Gangnam style dance everyone loves that. oooh oooh oooh and if you have a cat that can dance then take that with you, people love dancing cats.

    Question back at you:

Where did the name Porky Gorky come from?

When I created this account I really enjoyed playing Tringo. When I created this av my goal was to create a funky dancing fat man that would pop up between Tringo matches and strut his funky stuff, mainly for my own entertainment but it turned out profitable as I kept getting tips. As Gorky was one of the available surnames on a reasonably short list, I thought it would work great with the name Porky, which is obviously a splendid name for a dancing fat man. About a month after that I decided to use Porky to open Hydro Homes and to do business instead and left my Tringo dancing days behind me.

  11. Wowzers! I've been AFK the last 2 days living it up large in the big city and shed loads of you have posted!

By living it up large I mean I spent about 6 hours in Hamleys (the worlds biggest toy store) yesterday as it was my sons birthday and went to the Harry Potter studio tour today which was awesome! But enough about me.....what about you (those that have not posted yet)? Where the hell are you and what on earth are you doing here?

ps: The Monkey Island games were fun but nothing tops Grim Fandango

For me i think the Monkey Island games caught me at the right age, around 16. I saw what Grim did to push the boundaries of adventure games, but by the time that came out I was late 20's and didn't really care for those types of games any more. I was more into shooters and RPG's then.

From a personal enjoyment standpoint, and a standing the test of time standpoint, Baldur's Gate II is the best game of all time IMHO

A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

A woodchuck would chuck no amount of wood since a woodchuck can’t chuck wood. :robottongue:

But if a woodchuck could chuck and would chuck some amount of wood, what amount of wood would a woodchuck chuck?

Even if a woodchuck could chuck wood and even if a woodchuck would chuck wood, should a woodchuck chuck wood? :robotindifferent:

A woodchuck should chuck wood if a woodchuck could chuck wood, as long as a woodchuck would chuck wood.
