  1. I am looking for a business partner, or possibly a number of people with expertise to help run and develop SL-Inspiration. SL-Inspiration is quite a small project right now, but it's goals are to offer practical and affordable ways to help residents develop their projects and businesses. It presently offers malls and a few other builds, as well as a community website that allows residents to essentially write about anything related to Second Life, and in doing so raise the profile of themselves and their in world projects and businesses. Shortly SL-Inspiration will be providing a variety of web hosting solutions, from small free websites, to servers, domain names etc. SL-Inspiration will also be developing in other areas. Anyone who is looking to be involved in SL-Inspiration will need good experience within Second Life and be able to offer well defined skills. These could include amongst others: Building Scripting marketing innovation/creative ideas No financial input is expected at this stage because SL-Inspiration is run on the ethic of not expanding beyond its means. Financial rewards can be discussed but is expected to be on a split profit basis. If you think you can make a valuable contribution to SL-Inspiration send me (Lusus saule) a notecard in world with an outline of your experience and what you would like to contribute.
  2. @ Daedalus Young There is a way ro cheat if you want to create tilt shift images in Second Life. Use the Focus-Blur plugin for Gimp. This pluign can also be used to create the DOF effect for those whose PC isn't top end enough for the inbuilt DOF shader in the mesh viewer. Here's a little example of a tilt shift image I created a while ago using the plugin, (it allows greater control than using the viewer): I have a few tutorials on my blog on how to use the Focus-Blur plugin to create the depth of field effect and how to create tilt shift images: Wu Gallery (exuse the shameless self promotion, but its seems relevant).
  3. A resident made a 3D viewer for SL back in 2008. I have no idea if its still available or supported. As you suggest, you really need to have 2 view points for the 3D effect to work, so if the viewer relies on just splitting the red and cyan colour channels it probably doesn't work that great anyway. I found a link to a blog post about the viewer: http://www.vintfalken.com/dales-3d-stereo-viewer-for-second-life/ What can work is turning SL pics into 3D images. I have been dabbling with this and have posted a few images on Koinup. There is a link with these pics to a tutorial on how to create 3D images of your own if it interests you.
  4. Yes there are builders groups in SL. When I was first learning to build I belonged to one and it was very helpful. No matter how basic your question is, you will get an answer. I have to agree with the comments about the SL's help system, it is over complex and it can be difficult to find the answer you are looking for.
  5. In V2 the Hide Selected option can be found under Advanced > Highlighting and Visibility > Hide Selected. With this option selected, when you are in edit mode you should see the yellow outline of the object, but when you rotate or move the object it will become completely invisible. To stop the object becoming invisible, simply uncheck the Hide Selected option.
  6. Isn't it against the TOS to solicit RL information about residents, which would be needed for RL inworld shopping transactions? ELQ offers a good work around for this though.
  7. Adding the transparent texture to the sides of the object can also help improve appearance to give a more professional finish.
  8. Is it really worth reporting anything on SL Answers? The way every last drop of shite can be wrung out of even the most simplest of questions here, poor Lexie would never have chance to sleep.
  9. I haven't used Poser to create animations but I've used http://www.qavimator.org/ Its free and easy to use, especially for static poses. Just cut the frame rate down to 2 poses for static poses and you shouldn't have any problems.
  10. Even though the poses are static they would still need to have 2 frames. Maybe this solves your delemna...?
  11. I'm not sure how to overcome the problem of writing the cache to a flash drive, but to overcome the problem of the slowness of a flash drive and the fact it will sooner or later malfunction, possibly using a portable hard drive might be a better option. You are possibly aware that a laptop hard drive can be fitted inside an external casing and plugged into a PC via a usb port. You will then have a portable and reliable installation of Second Life that can be used on multiple PC's. However, I don't know if this helps with the cache issue or just adds to its confusion.
  12. Filing a lot of false AR's is against TOS, so if the person in question filed a lot of AR's against people using Emerald maybe thats why she was banned.
