Advertising an Adult Venue on Moderate land
BilliJo Aldrin replied to BilliJo Aldrin's topic in General Discussion Forum
I got the answer to my question, and it was the answer I wanted, and expected, my ads are permitted as long as they don't mention adult activities. But honestly this all much ado about nothing. People act like I'm gonna trick them into visiting an adult region. For those in here complaining, let me explain something. You click my ad, it gives you a notecard, come visit my cool place. At the bottom it lets you click for a LM. The LM, as all LM's clearly states the maturity rating of the sim. If you take the LM, before you click on it, it tells you that it is an adult sim, so yes there are adult situations and even OMG furniture with adult poses. Don't do adult? Delete the LM, delete the notecard, and move on. Or are people here suggesting that some people are so fragile that to even see an adult LM, to have it in their inventory, will scar them? That is all, carry on. -
Yes for bad or for good, they need to leave existing mainland as it is, but instead of endlessly expanding belissaria, tack on new mainland to existing mainland, and provide the new mainland sims with slightly more restrictive rules. That could include disallowing land cutting, low hanging skyboxes, etc, whatever makes the place more livable to those that don't want a lawless wild west kind of experience. Belessaria might be a nice place to live, but who wants to visit it? It would be like going to a major city, but only seeing the suburbs. Mainland is truly where its at.

Whatβs the difference between buying and renting
BilliJo Aldrin replied to Swaymisst's topic in General Discussion
Just to confuse things further, you can rent mainland from another player, but you get far less rights than if you "buy" land on an estate. Of course, its also cheaper, -

Not sure why you are constantly dumping on me, unless its to get a rise out of me. Perhaps I should just block you. π -
That is why people go to estates instead of mainland. On an estate you buy the land for $1 L. Its kind of hard for $6000 L to compete with $1 L

Would you trust a land flipper to release the land after you paid for it? I wouldn't It was just a suggestion, your way works too

Well, if they are offended, they can leave. But I hope they at least help themselves to a coffee and a donut before they go. π -
Advertising an Adult Venue on Moderate land
BilliJo Aldrin replied to BilliJo Aldrin's topic in General Discussion Forum
I make it quite clear that the place is located on Zindra, so one could reasonably expect there might be adult activities also. Besides, if they have chosen to not see anything adult, I think their teleport to my club would be blocked anyway. -

Obviously since SL isn't 50 years old, I'm role playing. I rp that I bought a 100 year old factory/warehouse complex and converted it into a home/club/hangout. If I'm rping, I can't simply "remove" the prim, that's not possible, so I had it painted over. I also had a really cool memorial, but I had to remove the plaque, so now all that's left is a blank granite obelisk -
If they do create a mainland mk II, permissions could be set so that land can't be resold, and land can't be subdivided. LL makes it all pretty, carves out parcels in tier sizes, all roadfront of course and sets them for sale at $1 L each. People will buy the interior parcels to get more prims, or the interior can be landscaped common areas, greenbelts and such. People can buy as many parcels as they want, since its tier LL wants, not the initial selling price, and people can just abandon them when they no longer need them, because there was no cost involved in buying them.

Planting trees are always a good idea, but it wouldn't be a satisfactory solution in this case. The flag w ould still have been visible. I had first considered sandblasting to remove the flag, but it would have been expensive, and probably destroyed the integrity of the brick, because the flag had been there a long time, 50 years at least. I decided to hire a couple of unemployed noobs instead to paint over the flag. They were really excited to get paid so much, at least until they discovered what the exchange rate to real currency was. Luckily they had already finished the job. The painting was part of a larger renovation project. I had to have the decorative elements of some of my windows replaced, at great cost, plus I had to replace the floor tiles in several of the rooms. It was all worth it though, because now my place is 100% within the TOS. Never let anyone tell you there are no rules on Zindra. π -
Good ideas Marianne, it echo's what I have said. Make mainland more attractive, create more road front parcels, set them for sale at reasonable prices, and they will come. Why make people submit a support ticket for land? Subdivide it and set it for sale.

I really didn't want to make this about micro parcels again, but since you mention it, I don't rent advertising, I use spare tier, so my advertising costs are zero -
Advertising an Adult Venue on Moderate land

From the link you provided: --------- The Adult designation applies to Second Life regions that host, conduct, or display content that is sexually explicit, intensely violent, or depicts illicit drug use. A region must be designated Adult if it hosts, advertises, or publicly promotes: Representations of intensely violent acts, for example depicting death, torture, dismemberment or other severe bodily harm, whether or not photo-realistic (meaning that images either are or cannot be distinguished from a photograph). Photo-realistic nudity. Expressly sexually themed content, spaces or activities, whether or not photo-realistic. We broadly define what is "sexually themed" to include any sexually oriented activities and conduct. Groups, event listings and classified ads that reference these themes or content must also be designated Adult. ---------- It seems from reading this, that If I don''t reference an adult theme in the ad, the ad doesn't need to be designated as adult, and can appear in a moderate setting So if my ad says "Come Visit (Name of my club) for good fun and good times" its not adult and can be posted on a moderate sim. Thank you -

Ok, thank you, I thought everyone saw the same event list -
Opinions please, I've already looked up the rules and it's not clear (to me anyway) Can I advertise a place on Zindra on moderate land if I only describe the non-adult activities that can take place there? Its Zindra, so obviously there are adult things too, but if I don't mention them , is advertising allowed? Directing me to the appropriate rule would be helpful. Thank you. Oh by the way, why are XXX activities now allowed to be advertised on the coming events section of the SL webpage.

Yet Another Disillusioned Mainland Land Owner
BilliJo Aldrin replied to BilliJo Aldrin's topic in Mainland
There is so much they could do to improve mainland, but they would rather put all their effort into endlessly expanding Belissaria. And I'm sorry if people disagree but Second Life IS mainland, do away with it, and you might as well do away with Second Life. Mainland is the true Second Life world. Everything else is just doll houses to put your avatars into -
Yet Another Disillusioned Mainland Land Owner
BilliJo Aldrin replied to BilliJo Aldrin's topic in Mainland
The best way to get people to buy mainland is to sell it the way estate owners sell their land to residents: for $1 L per parcel. Run a bunch of new roads Carve all of mainland into 4096's (or whatever tier size) all of which will be roadfront on the new roads, then sell them first come first served for $1 L per PARCEL -
Yet Another Disillusioned Mainland Land Owner
BilliJo Aldrin replied to BilliJo Aldrin's topic in Mainland
They most certainly could. And that would put an end to the problem once and for all. I think it would put a chill on all mainland ownership though, 16 today, anything under 512 tomorrow? Seriously though, this whole thing is silly, micro parcel advertising is not a big problem, except for those people that are too unwiling to take steps to avoid being "blighted" by a micro parcel ad.
