  1. Wow I never thought I'd say this, but you are complaining about weekly server updates when those are precisely what keeps SL going. No one would disagree with you that LL don't get things right as often as they should...but, given that the code that the servers run on has an inherent memory leak, if relatively busy sims DO NOT get weekly updates or restarts, they become unresponsive lag-traps. The chaos that would result in restarts only occurring once or twice a year doesn't bear thinking about. Whirly gives one possible cause of your woes, but from what you say I'd hazard a guess that your ISP is throttling your connection, or your router needs more regular reboots (a minimum of once a week is simply good housekeeping). I just hope that, having had a good rant, you calm down enough to deal sensibly with the issue. Shouting here is unlikely to get you anywhere except ER or a cardiac ward. :smileywink:
  2. Amelie I used to think like that. LL realise quite well that they have paying customers, it's just that they have become used to us ranting a bit and then backing down and using the system on THEIR TERMS. That's the crux...it is THEIR creation and we pay to use it on THEIR terms. Now many don't think that's right and now it is quite possible that a good many will vote with their feet and leave SL, so LL are grudgingly offereing a small sweetener to persuade folk to stay. Those who have tried the alternatives have, on the whole, been thoroughly underwhelmed. Just don't ever lose sight of the fact that we're playing with THEIR ball. They haven't.
  3. Two things may have occurred. 1) The transaction didn't go through (check your account transaction history). 2) If your Linden balance doesn't update when you click it, try a relog, that might kick the account update. If neither work contact LL support. :matte-motes-wink:
  4. Well I think "vague" is pretty applicable to LL's schedule for rolling out the prim increase to private regions. When all's said and done the main thrust of this move was to get folk back onto Mainland. Currently it's a mass of yellow "Land for Sale" notices if you look on the World Map. Giving the bonus to private regions any time soon would be commercially inept to say the least. More prims would be nice, and no doubt it WILL happen for Private regions, but I'm not holding my breath. :smileytongue:
  5. Yippee, I didn't log in and yet I can post (innit good) So, Caleb, no Bluestools this week. :smileytongue: ETA: So this roll fixes a BUG in a version of the server software that is no longer on the Grid...:smileysurprised:... how does that benefit us at all?
  6. OK this is past being amusing, Caleb Firstly sort this copy/paste nonsense out. It's making you look amateurish. Second please sort out the Grid Status. It is STILL saying that the Main Server Roll is in progress. LL can and should do better. This is poor. ETA 28th: So, according to an update of the post a couple of hours ago, the Main Server Roll was "resolved" 24 hours earlier. Really? Gosh!
  7. That is the standard message you get when a target sim is offline, so it is almost certainly being restarted. Not a worry.
  8. OK Caleb Main Server is rolling but there is no information thread in here - YET. Digitus Extractam, LL Oh, and what "Erroneous cancellation notices"? :smileymad: PS: My home sim is over 2 hours late for a restart now...how much longer? PPS at 2:00pm SLT: Now we have Caleb posting on LAST WEEK'S server thread that there IS no Main Server Roll, but there will be RC info. When? Or is that one of the "Erroneous messages". Oh, and the Google Calendar is still showing it as well. Not to put too fine a point on it, Linden Lab, what the **** is going on? The Status Blog says a roll IS ongoing! :smileysurprised: :smileymad:
  9. Well well well. Trust Whirly to come up with the answer! I had NO IDEA that could happen! Doesn't explain the forum posting weirdness I had, mind You, nor the fact that I didn't log on to the website to post this either! Mind You I had just logged off from SL a couple of minutes before so maybe they hadn't noticed! :smileytongue: Credit to Cerise Sorbet too, of course!
  10. Yes, that looks like a Linden Lab issue then. Much the same as my temporary exclusion from the Forum-posting ability then. But then...why, and more importantly, HOW? I don't have any answers for the HOW, and Linden Lab are not hurrying to say why, either. I can only idly assume that someone at Battery Street with admin privileges has wandering finger syndrome!
  11. Nue I have had this issue, twice now, following the recent upgrade to Firestorm (my client of choice). Since the code that covers this function is that provided by LL to the TPV developers, it is no different to the default LL viewer. I must assume, since it is not changing on the LL website that it is something that has occurred with the latest viewer code at the Linden Lab end. I have had no success in finding out WHY it happens, to date. If you are having this occur on the LL website rather than in viewer prederences, it MUST be a Linden Lab issue. I was effectively debarred from posting to LL fora for a couple of weeks earlier this year (my posts simply vanished without any error messages) and that was fixed, following a lot of largely fruitless discussion with LL Support, with no explanation as to why it happened. LL do not seem big on explanations of their failures when they occur.
  12. I hate to say it but the copy and paste malaise that has plagued LL communications in recent months appears to be alive and well. What bothers me most is the impression given by this...that LL do not give a **** about their communications. Despite all the protestations of current and recently past CEOs, this remains the single biggest factor in the decline of LL's fortunes. There is one inescapable conclusion. LL are "hard of thinking".
  13. Intriguing. When this update was rolled to the RC Channels it was a "New Maintenance project". Now that same update, judging by the version number (319299) is a "security update". What's in a name, eh? So, which is it? Both...neither? Answers on a postcard to...Linden Research, Battery Street, SF. :smileysurprised: At least there IS a roll!
  14. Chin I hesitate to say it, but your experience is not a common one of late. I have had enough anecdotal evidence to say that Blake in general is poor to awful for anyone with either a moderately complex craft or a moderately complex avatar. As with everything in SL, experiences are rarely the same and since a good many sims in the Blake area are RC channel sims, those at least will have been restarted in the past 24 hours. It seems that our experiences differ. I suspect that the sims causing the greatest trouble are sims with a moderate to high level of content. Low content sims, Homesteads or open spaces seem to be less affected by memory leaks, with the concommitant loss of performance.
  15. No need to apologize, Qie. I'm not running Windoze 10 so that particular issue is not affecting me. No, it's a genuine FUBAR, Blake Sea is unuseable as it stands.
  16. Well, I have just spent a couple of hours in SL. Failing physics, slow script-run, memory leaks the like of which I have not seen for years. IS THIS WHAT WE PAY FOR, Linden Lab????? And yes I DO pay..real money. I expected better of LL. :smileymad: Oh and please do not patronise me with remarks about routers and ISPs...my home sim is behaving perfectly thanks to it having been restarted (by me).
  17. I agree whole-heartedly with Callum. Those servers were never intended to run for so long without periodic restarts. Some are behaving extremely poorly, and it seems no-one cares.
  18. This is definitely a sim issue. I run a homestead and the script-run stats are broadly similar to any full region. Your stats are indicative of a simulator that is having trouble running scripts and that is NOT normal. 5000 scripts on a homestead is a bit high, I try to keep mine below 2000. Restart your sim. I'm no expert but the unacked data figure looks abnormally high too.
  19. You know, for once I think we need to cut the LL server team a little slack here. Firstly, they tried to get the cluster**bleep** unravelled and reopen logins. That overloaded the system and it screwwed up again. So then logins were disabled while the system was rebuilt and eventually we all get tp play in their virtual world. Ontop of that as I understand it the wildfires in the USA around the area of the SL server farm at Tucson are probably making life interesting, in the Chinese Proverb sense. They posted to the GSP as soon as the load slackened off on the website enough to allow it to work. I'm no apologist for Linden Lab, their way of working (sic) has baffled me for years, but on this occasion I think they ARE trying to sort things out. :smileyfrustrated:
  20. Emma One thing that I have found, over the years, is that if an IM is received while I am actually IN TP between sims, occasionally that IM will go to email, as SL regards me as being offline at that moment. It probably only happens during slow TPs, when SL seems to be having trouble either disconnecting from one sim or connecting to the destination. I don't know if this is typical, but I do know it has happened a few times to me.
  21. Having finally had confirmation from Linden Lab :smileysurprised: that there were to be no rolls this week, if the Google calendar is to be believed (I was not able to be at the Server-group meeting that I think is usually held today), there will be no rolls next week either, indeed nothing until RC Channel updates are to be pushed out on the 31st of this month. It would be nice if some official word on this was given, other than waiting for Caleb to confirm our concerns. :smileyfrustrated:
  22. I echo Marianne's concern. The Google calender shows a roll for today but there's absolutely nothing about it either in here or on the Grid Status blog. So just what is happening...is there anyone home at Battery Street this week? :smileysurprised: ETA: Oops, no it's gone from the calendar so I guess that settles it....no RC roll. Nice of you to tell us.
  23. Ah...oh...um...:smileyembarrassed: quite so *tiptoes away*
