  1. Actually, you can blame being logged out on the estate. Many landlords have their own upstream landlords or they pay tier directly to Linden Labs. If your landlord is insolvent, the islands he rents can go offline. There is a way to check this out. Go to http://www.gridsurvey.com and search for the island where you rent l and. That will tell you if the place is online.
  2. A couple of days ago I received a second request to help mount or fiddle with retail vendors in a store. The beggar who does not know me very well offered me a share of the earnings. I was not all that interested, but got curious enough to ask the location of the store. I found the place, which is on a sim with a club I frequent. Something about it does NOT feel right. The merchandise is too diverse to look as if it all comes from one creator. Is there any way to tell if these folks (There are at least two beggars involved) are selling copybotted stuff? They may not even have done the copybotting. This could be a "business in a box" of junk. I'm more just curious than anything else since they haven't hurt me.
  3. The official corn field is not the only one. I have some corn in my temperate house, and then there is Morrill's own corn field complete with herbicide applicator. If you live in New York State, these are your tax dollars hard at work: Morrill Corn Field
  4. You are right, but every time I swing the camera or the avie moves in any knd of built up area, her clothes go out of focus, and it's Ctrl-alt-r time. That's a lot of Ctrl-alt-r.
  5. There is now a Jira about this issue, and I didn't post it. https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SH-2494?focusedCommentId=285180#comment-285180
  6. Uh hitting Ctrl-alt-r every time the avie turns around or I swing the camera can get old very fast. A cache clearning has helped things. I wonder how soon they will get bad again.
  7. I have a question that is more than idle curiosity. How often do you have to rebake? I find I am doing it a lot more these days. Also have you tried wearing something that is busy with a lot of detail in the print. I run SL on two different computers. Both have ATI graphics cards. One is a ATI HD 2400 pro. The other has an ATI Radeon 9250. The machine with the ATI Radeon 9250 can not run mesh compliant viewers, but the ATI HD 2400 Pro machine has started to have rendering issues. I wish I had photos to show. If I find some, I'll post them. I will try clearing cache. Playing with the graphics settings did not fix the problem since my worst problem is land rendering.
  8. For me the viewers (And also Firestorm mesh compliant) crash after all the clothing downloads. I have an older computer and the best graphics card I can run is an ATI Radeon 9250. Here are my specs: Singularity Viewer 1.5.10 (2) Aug 8 2011 06:25:06 (Singularity) Release Notes Grid: Agni (secondlife) Built with MSVC version 1600 You are at 134263.0, 256353.2, 2799.4 in Mystico located at sim3983.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.4.149:13000) Second Life Server 11.09.09.240513 Release Notes CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz (2793 MHz) SSE Support: SSE2 Memory: 1278 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) compatibility mode. real ver: 6.0 (Build 2900) Graphics Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc. 9. There is a new beta viewer update tonight. Beta viewers usually don't update on Monday nights. Maybe I'm not the only one out there with issues. I'm going to give it a try.
  10. Height is NOT synonymous with age. My avie is 39 years old and 4'10" to 5'0" depending on how you want to measure. That said, every so often she gets ejected or threatened (or harassed) in clubs. My response, biting my tongue in anger, is READ MY PROFILE which clearly states my age. No, I don't have an "adult" avatar. If you are lazy this is your own stinking fault. No, I don't have a chip on my shoulder. I just don't like rude bouncers who don't do their job. There is some hieght discrimination in Second Life. If I find myself a victim of it, I usually take my business elsewhere. Now, I don't help matters because a realistic small female avie, dresses a bit cutesy. Smaller women in real life tend to do this. I like floral and novelty prints and bright colors. I also like them in real life. At the same time I don't let my avie run around in provocative dress. If bouncers would READ MY PROFILE, my second life would be totally sweet.
  11. Let me give some advice, from someone who is happily renting and who thought she'd never be happy renting big land. What has worked (and also what has failed, but it has NOT failed for residential real estate. It failed retchedly for commercial stuff like mall stalls.) is to take stock of where you usually go. There are usually parcels for rent near the clubs and stores you frequent. They don't have to be that near, but the area should be familiar to you and you should feel comfortable there. Since I fequent Brazilian clubs (the kind that spring up in malls like mushrooms after a rain), I started renting in Utopia Portugal XVIII. It took me a while to get used to being a tenant who pays monthly instead of yearly. I also have a 512 on mainland which costs me nothing. My landlord and I get along well and I have moved three times as he has lost sims and rearranged property. The land I needed was mixed use since I build and you know what amateur builders' stuff looks like. Second, if you are a premium member, consider buying mainland. Your landlord is Linden Labs so you know they are stable and half way honest. Mainland comes without covenant so for someone who wants to build from scratch it's ideal. I have neighbor issues no matter where I rent. The biggest problem is encroachment. Landing in all ready occupied property gives you an idea of who you'll be living next to for the next few months. This is true on islands as well as mainland. Due to my two unhappy experiences renting retail stalls, I would be very leery of renting land again should my landlord go out of business. I would probably take the mainland route. I feel safer wtih Linden Labs. By the way, there are landlords that will rent you a piece of mainland without you going premium. Sometimes this is a good solution.
  12. It happened mutliple times. It happened after I cleared cache. I have a six year old XP computer with one of the less fancy video cards. I ran 3.01 beta with zero problems except lag in crowded places. I did not log in to anywhere laggy. In fact I was probably the only avie in the sim the first time out. I obtained Regular Viewer 3.0, installed it, and am having no problems with it. This is really a shame, because I find that beta builds tend to work better on older machines. I'd like to go back to running beta versions, but right now I can't do that unless someone has a fix for me.
  13. Well, I'm a fool. Three of the six radio stations on my radio had moved. A bit of script editing and everything works just fine. It's pretty good to be a fool with a working radio.
  14. Not as strange as it looks. The stations that don't play have 4 digit ports. The ones that do either have no port number listed or else have five digit port numbers. I didn't see the pattern until I pasted the links. Now the other reason this may be happening is that stations move around. The last time I "fixed" my radio was a few months ago. I can see if what is running in my script matches what I pasted above. That would make me look like a fool, but at least I'd solve my problem.
  15. OK, this one is simple: The ability to stream sound is really awful in the newest release of 2.83 beta. Several radio stations that used to play on my land, have stopped doing so. They still work. I've tried them in Shoutcast and on my phone. Other radio stations play just fine. Bandwidth does not make a difference. Has any one else run into this issue. Also when I go to other sims, the streamed music sometimes cuts out intermittently. Other times it is just fine. Radio stations that play: Broadway World Radio: http://72.13.82.11:21688 WRVO http://pubint.ic.llnwd.net/stream/pubint_wrvo WICB http://www.live365.com/play/327162 Radio stations that no longer play: Deepmix.ru http://85.21.79.93:8040 New York Jewish Radio (Lakewood NJ) http://173.193.205.96:9016 This is a very weird problem. Does any one know how to fix it.
  16. OK, I've had the textures forever, and I've owed my avie a dress with them. There is a longer version of this skirt too, but I like the short one for wearing in clubs. I don't have to worry if my avie is "appropriately dressed" should she have to leave the club. Also muscari or grape hyacinths are a spring flower, and yes my avie's hair matches her shoes. She is color coordinated from head to toe.
  17. I don't have any beauty experience in the real world, but I have made two skins, and all my avie and her alt's clothes. The reason is simple. My avie stands about 5'0" (148-155cm) and weighs 125lb (I can't convert that to metric off the top of my head.) This makes her a 10 petite. No one has that size. Also, my avie works two hours a week in the education sector and needs work safe clothing, but I hate that black pants and men's shirt uniform, a lot of more conservative avies wear. Necessity is the mother of invention.
